Like just almost everyone else before me, I LOVE the army men. I hope a Battle Pack is not too much to hope for. I have a feeling TLC will need to make 10 times more of which ever set the army men come in compared to the other Toy Story sets. Also, I think RC was superbly made.

Speaking of sets, and I hope I'm not off topic on asking this, but does any one have any actual news on what kind of sets these two themes will have?

Lastly, I agree with Klaus-Dieter from a few pages back in that TLC may have saved themselves some money if they made up their own Arabian Nights theme instead of paying to make PoP. Love the figs but just not sure if they needed the brand name of "PoP".

Simple. Whilst they pay in licence fees, they make up $$$ in saving on development and marketing costs.

Back story, concept artworks, characters - all supplied by the license. Multi million dollar promotion budget, paid for by the movie studio - all to Lego's advantage meaning they don't have to try and sell a new and untested house theme to the market.

Those clamouring for an Ancient Rome theme should be extremely pleased by the PoP licence, as something like this model is the best chance of a historical theme appearing in future years.

I wan't ay leats 100 of those little army men

I have finally seen the day of the first Lego Army helmet

How long I have waited :cry_happy:

PoP looks interesting, although i agree that if you show a head off one of the toy story guys to an adult they wouldn't know it was Lego, but thats the same with the new space police really and no one complained about squidman did they? But the toy story line is meant for kids isn't it? I love the evil dude! So awesome!

:vader:

The PoP and Green Army men are going to put a dent in my checkbook. Very nice, my kids are crazy for the Toy Story theme and the Army Men top it off for them.

I think the TS figures are not good at all. I mean, they are not even proper minifigures! :sceptic:

My point exactly! How are the TS figs any less "proper minifigs" than the Space Police or SpongeBob ones which no one seems to mind? :sceptic:

I think people should really be a little more open to new ideas. :sadnew:

I thought lego would never do anything war orientated? i thought thats why we have never seen a official lego tank.

It's OK, your forgiven. And I'm sorry I picked on you like that. A few people have been saying similarly silly things as you and I wanted to get things straight. Sorry. Carry on.

Thats alright, I see what you're saying.

I know that these are a bit different to normal lego but I think it is alright being that it is toy story. If it was a normal system theme I would be raising my eyebrow. But it suits this theme. And remember, story is targeted at kids

The white PoP bandana/turban is perfect for Dengar. The tan armor is also amazing.

I think the TS figures are not good at all. I mean, they are not even proper minifigures! :sceptic: PoP looks much better, but that camel looks weird too. :look: I may get a couple PoP sets, but that is it.

I'm a bit dissapointed. :sadnew:

EDIT: I'll be getting those little army men for sure. Those hats will come in handy for WaW animations!

I dont like any of the TS minifigs, they just look like minifigs with massive suits on them. I wish they'd make them more minifig scale.

As for the army helmets, Brickforge ones look alot better.

I like the PoP minifigs though, Even though I dont think I have a use for any of them, Just pure eye candy.

Who said "ostrich farm anyone" LOL  I should try and make one...

Or even Fabuland minifigs, which hardly resemble normal minifigs, but are still incredibly adorable little guys.

I think the TS figs should at least be given a chance. They could have some potential to make good MOCs.

That is to be discussed elsewhere, not here. (Try the 'Other Themes' thread)

Well, at least Lego released something. The Toy Story figs are outright disgusting to me, because they feel junorized, unusable for anything else, and modeled like M!@#B*&!ks toys. Luckily, the Prince of Persia figs are AMAZING. They are very versatile and the torsos will work for anything with edge, while the heads remain very usable and they have new HEADWRAPS. The PoP figs will rock the toy shelves next summer.

Wow. I gotta say, those characters look amazing! As a huge fan of all the Pixar movies, I am so excited that TLG has done such a great job capturing the fun of the Toy Story movies, and made it LEGO. Using three sizes of mini-fig to create a new scale is genius.

What a great move to partner with Disney. The timing is perfect: the first Toy Stories in 3D will build momentum for Toy Story 3 which I expect will highlight LEGO for mutual benefit. I look forward to a new wave of Disney fans MOCing in Toy Story scale. (What do we call it? Maxifig scale? Woodyfig scale?)

And just a word to the haters. I'm new to the AFOL scene, but I imagine a similar Chicken Little "The sky is falling!" panic must have arose here when TLG introduced flesh-colored skin, non-smiling heads, and BURPs. Now I understand we all get nostalgic when we think of the good old days when our taste matched the sets on the shelves. But we've grown up, and kids' taste has changed. (Kids love Spongebob, which I personally find repellent.) I think we need to recognize that we are not the target market anymore. The fact that LEGO has evolved to appeal to our kids, and will continue to evolve to appeal to our kids' kids, is a very good thing. Remember, we want TLG to prosper so they'll keep making those bricks we like to play with.

i think they did pretty good with the toy story set. i was actually thinking if they would do it in a regular lego head but they decided not to. but its all good.

i only wish that they would really make the whole cast... like mr potato head slinky and rex and hamm. :D hehe very excited. cant wait for the official preview to come out! :D

They are not Minifig now, they are Tallfigs!

I'm very happy with the camel and the ostrich animal pieces  , but it is a bit dissapointing they first need to buy a license to make them. :hmpf_bad:

Come on guys. You can do it!: Lego city ZOO :classic:

The minifigs of Prince of persia looks very good to me. One of them look good for a ethiopian soldier or something like that.

Oh, almost forgot the toystory.

I didn't wait for it, but the green soldiers and the little green marsians are nice.

It is not my kind of line, but that doesn't matter, Power miners isn't also.

Come on guys. You can do it!: Lego city ZOO :classic:

Exactly, I think it will be 2 years and we will get a Zoo theme finally.

Also the Space Police guys at least look like minifigures, and the same goes with the Star Wars aliens. The TS ones look horrible, and Play Mobile like.

Zoh my God! This is horrible! Is LEGO that desperate to sell product that it will make the cheesy crap that is Toy Story! Also, refering (spelling) to the City Zoo Idea, I don't even like city, but I would buy that (if it looked nice). They should make this one.

Zoh my God! This is horrible! Is LEGO that desperate to sell product that it will make the cheesy crap that is Toy Story! [/url]

They're not desperate at all. The past few years have been great for LEGO, top themes and top sales! Toy Story isn't crap at all, it's one of the best movies for children out there. And it's a good decision of LEGO, in my opinion, to take a Disney license and produce some LEGO Toy Story sets. It's hard to make good figures out of movies, because if you look at other movie licenses, it's hard to see the actors in the figures. And with this theme, they really couldn't have done it any better. The figures look exactly like the ones in the movie, they did an excellent job. Even the RC car looks perfect.

I wasn't into these figures at first sight, but they really have grown on me. I'm looking forward to the sets!

I know I'm late to the party but I just wanted to give my opinion. As far as the PoP figs go, pretty much standard fare and what I expected. The new heads and headgear will be much appreciated, and new animals are always a plus.

As for Toy Story, I think they chose this direction with younger fans in mind. Sure TLG could have made them all standard minifigure size with regular heads, but I think this way they look more like their "real life" counterparts on the movie screen. I personally won't be getting any of the Toy Story sets for the figs (besides Bullseye  ), but I can see them being popular sellers.

(I haven't really read over the comments about the new pics in this thread, so I apologize if I'm repeating or contradicting anything).

Well, I can't say I like the looks of Toy Story much at all. The tall minifigs are kind of of weird, but at least they'll make for some interesting combos (gorilla figs, anyone?). The heads and horse molds are pretty scary, too. I do like the RC and the army men, though.

I think this could be as close as we get to Fabuland II.

On the other hand, Prince of Persia looks promising. The figs are exactly what I expected, and the new ostrich and camel molds are great. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.
