July 28, 200915 yr As for Toy Story, I think they chose this direction with younger fans in mind. Since the consensus seems to be that the very detailed Toy Story figs are already aimed at youngsters, it will be very interesting to see how the Duplo versions of the figs will end up looking. Just larger scaled versions of the special moulds shown here on a Duplo scale body? If so, they will be huge!

Just larger scaled versions of the special moulds shown here on a Duplo scale body? If so, they will be huge! I can see it now, with the even larger figures. "THERE'S A SNAKE IN MY BOOT! No, Woody, that's the Midgard serpent from the Viking ship set."

Did I miss something?
July 28, 200915 yr And just a word to the haters. I'm new to the AFOL scene, but I imagine a similar Chicken Little "The sky is falling!" panic must have arose here when TLG introduced flesh-colored skin, non-smiling heads, and BURPs. Now I understand we all get nostalgic when we think of the good old days when our taste matched the sets on the shelves. But we've grown up, and kids' taste has changed. (Kids love Spongebob, which I personally find repellent.) I think we need to recognize that we are not the target market anymore. The fact that LEGO has evolved to appeal to our kids, and will continue to evolve to appeal to our kids' kids, is a very good thing. Remember, we want TLG to prosper so they'll keep making those bricks we like to play with. None of those events you mentioned was as catastrophic as the Great Bley Color Change. That was damn near apocalyptic. Go read the original Lugnet thread for some real fun. Ah, the memories ... I totally agree with your point though. While I personally have no use for the Toy Story figs, to decry them as "not real mini-figs" is kind of weird. Who gets to decide what's a "real" mini-fig and what isn't?
July 28, 200915 yr Agree with most. Toy Story figs are interesting, but don't seem to "fit". Prince of Persia looks fantastic, and will make a great companion to Indiana Jones.
July 29, 200915 yr i see high possibilities for the PoP pieces to be re-used if LEGO ever decides to make Aladdin for Disney.
July 30, 200915 yr i see high possibilities for the PoP pieces to be re-used if LEGO ever decides to make Aladdin for Disney. Yeah. I do see that as well. I also foresee the use of fezzes, turbans, tigers, and those dome pieces from Orient Expedition redone in brown. That would be great.
July 30, 200915 yr Eh? I thought that Toy Story was only going to be system, and Cars was going to be Duplo. Did I miss something? According to the press release in the first post of this thread.... Toy StoryChildren’s imaginations will go “To infinity and beyond” when, beginning in 2010, they will be able to re-create the adventures of Buzz Lightyear and Woody with LEGO toys inspired by the Toy Story franchise. Toy Story-themed construction sets will be available on both LEGO DUPLO and LEGO System platforms, building the adventure and fun for children ages 2-12. LEGO System products based on Toy Story and Toy Story 2 will launch in January 2010... Toy Story-themed LEGO DUPLO products launch in June 2010. (I missed this the first time around too )
July 31, 200915 yr Yeah. I do see that as well. I also foresee the use of fezzes, turbans, tigers, and those dome pieces from Orient Expedition redone in brown. That would be great. Oh, anything for more onion domes
July 31, 200915 yr i think that in 2011, they should do a Disney Classic series, and bring out some of the classic films... but i think it's more wishful thinking...
July 31, 200915 yr I would really Like to see some WALLE lego, if they are bringing that out, are they?
July 31, 200915 yr i think that in 2011, they should do a Disney Classic series, and bring out some of the classic films... but i think it's more wishful thinking... Disney classics sounds like a great idea, though I'm not sure they would be willing to make new heads/pieces just for one set. Maybe if they kept the figs kind of generic and used pieces that were already available this could be possible, hopefully they can get it done.
July 31, 200915 yr After watching the movie again, more than anything else I want Incredibles Lego. We'd get proper figs, a wicket new hairpiece with Syndrome, and the possible sets are brilliant. There are many vehicles in the movie too so it would fit really well, like Mr Incredible's Car, Syndrome's jet, the Omnidroid, the henchmen's rotor flyers etc. To the Brickmobile!
August 1, 200915 yr For Syndrome, they could just recolor the Inferno hair I think we covered that already. I hate to mini-mod, but this thread is getting quite off topic. Wishes and ideas go in this thread, guys.
August 1, 200915 yr I hate to mini-mod, No you don't, but I'll head over to that thread anyway. To the Brickmobile! EDIT: So do we know any details about this license apart from what themes there is and that there is one? I'm talking length of deal, if Disney had an regulations etc.
August 1, 200915 yr Found this on brickshelf looks like the Duplo cars here wow. these actually aren't bad. i might buy duplo just to get the characters.
August 1, 200915 yr wow. these actually aren't bad. i might buy duplo just to get the characters. That's a current Megablok set. http://www.megabrands.com/Shop/Brands/Disn...g_Tractor_7786/
August 1, 200915 yr That's a current Megablok set.http://www.megabrands.com/Shop/Brands/Disn...g_Tractor_7786/ oh woe! i actually got tricked by megabloks. curse you!!!
August 1, 200915 yr Now, that seems slightly confusing. I wonder what retailers will do about the old Mega Brands products when the Lego sets come out? People are not as quick to buy Mega Brands over Lego at Duplo size, the giant bricks are popilar but the smaller ones are not as good as the Lego. I was still finding megablocks Cars in Woolworths even during it's last days of trading. Brand confusion is not something retailers like (unless it is their own brand people are confusing with the popular branded product).
August 3, 200915 yr Man, the more and more I look at the Toy Story figs, the more and more I get psyched! I remember one of the first things I did when I was allowed to play with actual minifigs was pretend that two of them were Buzz and Woody. They didn't look anything like Buzz or Woody (I think Woody was actually a Timmy figure.), but I still had so much fun pretending they were! And now I can get that feeling back and then some with these figures! I can't wait!!! (Also, I know it's been said to DEATH before, but LEGO WALL-E needs to happen NOW. NOWNOWNOW.) August 25, 200915 yr Not sure if this means anything, but just like the TS3 teaser trailer, the trailer for the 3D version of TS 1&2 features Lego bricks as well.
August 26, 200915 yr Not sure if this means anything, but just like the TS3 teaser trailer, the trailer for the 3D version of TS 1&2 features Lego bricks as well. That's strange, Leog will probably be in TS# but they might redo the old ones. I don't think it means much, just a goof.
