Da Death Star! Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 No offense, but Toy Story is the best disney movie ever next to the Lion King. What do you mean 'Next'? (The Lion King was pretty good though ).Woah, thats actually kind of freaky cause I thought it would be a great idea for Lego to make Toy Story, but everyone that posted in the Topic I made about it said that it wouldn't work because of this or that.I have to say I'm ecstatic and hope they make lots of sets, that it sells well, and that it lasts for a LOOOOOOOONG time before TS leaves.(_)The guy who wants to hug Lego just about now(_) Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Cars seems like a great idea, Cars 2 comes out sometime in 2011 or 2012 or 2013. :) However LEGO System Toy Story?! Interesting..... Quote
rriggs Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I hope that this does happen. I would love Cars and Toy Story Lego to be available! Fingers crossed and watch this space I guess... Cheers Rog Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Sounds intresting, it does merge together two things I've very geeky about, now for the next step or theme park ride lego sets and my dreams will have come true. Quote
Eskallon Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Maybe I should send TLC some pictures from my Disney Minifig Collection... just to give them some ideas in their brainstorming! That wouldn't be a bad idea actully seen as your disney figs are great and who knows you might get a reward for it. Anyway I think the cars will be rubbish and Prince of Persia will be ok. To be honest I am most looking forward to toy story as it is a disney childrens film that i used to love. But as someone elso said The lion king would be cool. This could be a huge rock and many lions and other creatures. I can just imagine a buzz figure with a transparent thing on his head. Quote
Joey Lock Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 This could meen some sweet sets for Pirates! Pirates of the Caribbean 4, 2009-2010! Awesome! Quote
Oswald the Rabbit Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I am active Disney enthusiast as I am a Lego one , so this is amazing news. On a side note Disney sold the rights of Chronicles of Narnia to FOX due to lack of sales. Quote
Tinn-man Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Prince of Persia Lego...just ruins all chances of getting zelda Toy Story could be interesting Quote
Filip Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I can't wait for the Toy Story sets. Prince of Persia can also be interesting, even though I haven't played any of the games from that series. Quote
jedikermit Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Toy Story is good news. Cars is good news for my boys, although I've actually been impressed with what evil MegaBloks has done with their Cars line. Hopefully LEGO can give us the same depth of character choice that MB did. Prince of Persia doesn't excite me much...I'd rather see them do some classics. Quote
Runninglizard55 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 i just hope these are done with the same care as the indiana jones and star wars licenses and not very <insert that tiresome argument> Quote
Oky Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 (edited) No. Freakin. Way! That's wonderful!!! I am a huge PIXAR fan, and a Disney license has always been my dream Lego license! Toy Story is one of my favorite movies, and I can't believe we are getting Lego System sets of it! Buzz Lightyear minifig! Wow! I can't wait! Cars doesn't interest me all that much (it's my least favorite PIXAR film) but those will apparently be Duplo only anyway. However, I wouldn't say no to a UCS Lightning McQueen. We'll see. PoP sounds intriguing! I have only tested the game once, but it seemed to be a good game, so I am expecting the movie and the sets to be (at least almost) equally good. Oh boy, I'm so excited and geeked out right now! The good news just keep coming today. I hope there will be lame SW sets in 2010, 'cause I will have to get all of these Disney PIXAR sets! Dreams really do come true! Edited February 15, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
Erdbeereis Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Woo hoo! Finally my dream of Hannah Montana LEGO sets comes true! This certainly has some promise, I look forward to seeing how these will turn out. I will be curious about the minifigs. Thanks for the news! Quote
eti Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I think it is good news over all for Lego. Can't hurt for the company to have some licences of popular stuff and Disney makes sure everything they release is popular... now for the sets, Cars will be Duplo only, Toy story could be nice but I don't know much about it, and Prince of persia sounds most promising just by the name because I have really never heard about it. My big dream would be classic Disney - the stuff I grew up with. That's Mickey Mouse, I'd love to see more of those sets (it was sort of like a follow-up for Fabuland, and quite a good one too, except the figures were awkward). And especially the stories we all read as kids (well, I did, anyway), which is the whole Carl Barks universe. Scrooge McDuck, the witch that wants to steal his lucky dime to melt it in a volcano, the inventor with this wacky inventions (sorry, to lame to look up the English names of all the characters!) - all at minifig scale with new head moulds of course. And it would work. Children would love them because they read those comics (at leas over here there's a Donald Duck weekly that is still very popular), and parents would choose those over almost all other Lego themes because they love it too. darkrebellion Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 (edited) This news are really great!!!! Toy Story and Cars are great but I just can´t believe the last theme... LEGO PRINCE OF PERSIA !!!! I was hoping for a theme of this videogame since the first time I played it but I think it was a very distant possibility almost impossible and now this!!!! I am really excited by this news, I just hope that they release sets of both POP videogame and movie so they could have more possibilities. After this announcement a Zelda theme isn´t impossible after all . Anyone can imagine a small Star Tours exclusive set? Edited February 15, 2009 by darkrebellion Quote
Klonoa Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 WALL-E needs to happen. Besides that, I don't care much for Disney. Who knows though, maybe we'll get something good. Quote
Oky Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) I'm not too crazy about a WALL-E theme. I mean, anyone can build a WALL-E fig with some binoculars and a few other pieces, and there wasn't much scenery in that movie. The only sets I could imagine are WALL-E's "house", EVA's probe shuttle, and maybe an ISD-scale AXIOM. Don't get me wrong; it's a fantastic movie and I would love to see it being made into a theme, but I just don't think it would end up as a very good Lego theme. I would much, much rather see an Incredibles theme! That would be simply... well, incredible! Serously, that one has a lot of potential! Syndrome fig with Dr. Inferno hair anyone? Woo hoo! Finally my dream of Hannah Montana LEGO sets comes true! God forbid! The thought of the possibility makes me shudder all over. That's not even funny. Well, maybe a little. No, it's only of the movie. And keep in mind that movies tend to differ quite a bit from what they are based on. After this announcement a Zelda theme isn't impossible after all Only if Disney produces a Zelda movie. Anyone can imagine a small Star Tours exclusive set? Not so sure about the Star Tours thing, but I can imagine there to be a Disneyland subtheme. Besides, what would a Star Tours set include? That boring, blocky shuttle with Artoo & Threepio? I wouldn't buy that. Edited February 16, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
Dadster Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 My youngest daughter is ecstatic over the Cars announcement - 'course she doesn't understand the concept of a "year" yet, so I'll be hearing about it every single day for the next 12 months... I wish the Cars license could have done something in regards the Racers theme. Oh well. Still very cool news!! I personally can't wait for the Toy Story theme and new movie!! Quote

Syndrome fig with Dr. Inferno hair anyone? : Just cause you could only i magine a few sets doesn't mean it wouldn't be a succes. There could be WALL-E's truck house, the shuttle you speak of, Eve, wall-e, moe figs. Not to meantion all the robots that were being held in the repair ward. An Axiom play set, quad play set, Eve's drop ship, Wall-E's escape pod, captain's bridge.... There's plenty to go about. Quite frankly, this would be the only disney license i'll be looking forward too. I think this would have alot more potentail than the incredibles. Edited February 16, 2009 by 5150 Lego Quote
WetWired Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I hope theymake them Minifig sized toy story characters, though a larger creator style buzz lightyear would be cool. Alfred Molina in prince of persia? so he's to be immortalized in LEGO....again! Quote
Oky Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I may be skeptical about a Lego System WALL-E theme, but I'm sure there are many awesome things to be done with WALL-E. For example, how about a UCS WALL-E like the MOC below: Or seeing him stand next to the NXT bot, I get another idea: A Mindstorms/Technic incarnation of WALL-E! That would be really awesome! Quote
tin7_creations Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Well I certainly wouldn't say no to a Sherriff Woody minifig! He's the very best! The rootin-est, tootin-est cowboy in the Lego aisle, I'd believe. Those're in the public domain, though, aren't they? Lego wouldn't need a Disney license to make them. you should go have a look @ the Sheriff Woody that I made: Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear I really want to send these to LEGO to see if they want to use them as brainstorm (maybe even get to make my own input into the themes!) ~tin7 Quote

Oswald the Rabbit Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I just hope the Toy Story faces arnt cartoonized. I wonder how it will work out. I hope they expand the line to Disney Classics. Quote
Darth_Legois Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Disney & Lego? I just can't really imagine it but wow... I cant imagine Toystory or Cars in LEGO form...maybe duplo but System?! Anyway..Im not to sure about this line unless we get lots of cool new parts. Quote
