Oswald the Rabbit Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I think Woody should have the old cowboy hat. Quote

Oky Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 undoubtful fact is, Lego will made this scene:SNIP Totally! So If Lego will make a Toy Story theme... Maybe we will see some Lego in Toystory3 movie? Oh hopefully! That would be awesome! Just imagine one of the new characters to be a classic minifig! They could have done this in Toy Story 2 already, but apparently they chose not to. Would have been great if Andy's toys would have come through the Lego aisle in Al's Toy Barn! Oh well, here's hoping our favorite toy will have a cameo in the next movie! I'm quite looking forward to the Toy Story theme. Some of those pieces, parts, and minifig parts should be a little useful for Indy and Star Wars mocs. SW & Indy? Really? There is nothing in Toy Story that reminds me of anything from SW or Indy. But we'll definitely get some parts that can be used for Wild West mocs and maybe some for Space. Quote
Donut Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 This is really exciting, I really enjoy Disney animations so this is the best of both worlds in one package. Quote
Freddie Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Oh well, here's hoping our favorite toy will have a cameo in the next movie! A cameo!? I'm hoping that they go full-out and have a minifig as a new character (i.e. two-way licensing)! That'd be awesome. Quote
Shoc Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 This news is insane, but also really interesting! Cars as Duplo, I'm not too bothered about that. I didn't like the film but I'm sure they'll sell well. Prince Of Persia I only know a little about, but it is really cool looking and I hope the Lego sets will be too! Toy Story sets I would never have expected! I remember saying myself in another EB topic about them and that they'd never happen. The Toy Story films I do like, so it would be cool to see them as Lego, but toys of toys?! It's just really weird... Hopefully we'll get some great new pieces out of these themes, even if we have to wait a year... P.S. I'm back after not posting here for ages - yay! :skull: Quote
natelite Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 ^ TS has not been around for 20 years 20 years? That's a bit of an exaderration (spelling?). i didn't say 20, i said almost 20. sorry, i didn't google before i wrote that and i kinda remember it was released in the 90s. it's actually 1995, so actually 14 years. 6 years shy of 20. Lordofdragonss Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Whats about Lego Lasso? It will be usefull for Indy :) And look at this: This is the Buzz and Woody made by red5man: I hope real will look somewhat like this! Quote
drdavewatford Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 As someone who isn't particularly interested in any of the new franchises, I guess my question is what will be retired in order to accomodate all these new lines ? Unless Lego are planning to recruit a whole bunch of new designers, the implication is that other lines will be retired or there will be fewer kits. Dr. D. Quote
Freddie Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 As someone who isn't particularly interested in any of the new franchises, I guess my question is what will be retired in order to accomodate all these new lines ? Well, i just came across this article, so there's a chance they might lose Spongebob. But sure enough, LEGO can only grow so quickly (and as CEO Knudstorp have stated, don't want to grow too quickly), and one can only hope it won't negatively affect any of the other lines. Quote
Orion Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) I did some screen-shot searching yesterday, and if the movie is like the game, we're gonna get some nice sets. Btw, since one of the main characters in the movie and game is the princess, does that mean a new female fig? Edited February 18, 2009 by Orion Quote
KinGanon Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Am I the only one that noticed that Lego making a theme on an M-Rated game?(Prince of Persia is M-Rated right?) Unless we are refering to another Prince of Persia please correct me. Quote

Unless we are referring to another Prince of Persia please correct me. Yes, we are. I hate to say this again, but if you would pay attention to what others are saying, you would know that we are talking about the PoP movie. And the movie is being produced by Disney, so I'm guessing the rating can't be all that bad. This, of course, raises the question of how good the movie (and in return, the sets) will be. Quote
Matn Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I think there will be some violence, some... I think much violence in the movie. If so, I would find it ridicilous to bring out this theme and not continiouing the Harry Potter line, becoming darker, what a lame excuse. But, oh well. I hope the sets will be good. =) Quote

Okay thanks for clarifying, I read a bunch of posts but didn't find anything. So did Disney buy the liscense off of Ubisoft or something? Quote
Shoc Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 So did Disney buy the liscense off of Ubisoft or something? Presumably, I don't know how else they would do it legally! :skull: Quote
Justin Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Well, i just came across this article, so there's a chance they might lose Spongebob. But sure enough, LEGO can only grow so quickly (and as CEO Knudstorp have stated, don't want to grow too quickly), and one can only hope it won't negatively affect any of the other lines. I like the idea of a Disney/Pixar LEGO theme, but I don't want LEGO to lose their Nickelodeon license, as it would be a travesty to millions of SpongeBob fans. I can't afford to see LEGO gypped out of another good licensing agreement. Remember what happened to their licensing deals with Marvel Comics/Spiderman and with DC Comics/Warner Bros./Batman? I cannot afford to see that happen with Nickelodeon/Viacom/SpongeBob. If I were the CEO of LEGO, I would cut down the number of Star Wars and Indiana Jones sets being produced to make some Disney sets available. I would like to see an Alice in Wonderland theme complete with a Cheshire Cat. I know Lego tried Disney before, with Mickey Mouse LEGO and Winnie the Pooh DUPLO sets back in early 2000. There's got to be a way in which multiple themes can coexist for a long period of time. I would hate for more short-lived flops like Galidor, Spiderman, or Speed Racer. Quote
Orion Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Toy Story seems sort of strange to me. I mean, it is one of disney's greatest, but it just seems a bit hard to execute. I mean, a bunch of toys in a human sized world? If everyone is minifig sized, then the props and playsets are going to have to be huge! Will TLC be making molds for all the other characters, like Rex and Mr. Potato Head? It just seems like the set designers will have to get pretty creative. I'm not trying to bash the new theme, I'm all for it! It just seems a bit odd. I'm really wanting some screen shots from the new PoP movie, so I can guesstimate my opinion on the PoP theme. Quote

Just to clarify, the Spiderman license was with Sony Pictures, not Marvel Comics. The license was specifically related ONLY to events and characters in the first two movies (presumably the license elapsed before the third movie; probably a blessing in disguise given how crappy the third movie was). Since it was tied to a movie, TLC was really handcuffed as to what they could do with it. But anyway, I do see your point. Didn't TLC make an announcement a few years back that they were going to reign in their licenses and focus on homegrown themes?? Seems like they've got as many licenses now as they ever have. Quote

Yeah, I thought that was weird. I wouldn't care either way if these sets came out or not, but I think TLC should stick to more of their own themes! I do like Batman, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones, but unless they're replacing some, I don't think they should have too many licensed themes! :skull: Quote
Tinn-man Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I just had a though! Do you think that lego will give us a giant minifig to represent Andy or other humans in the Toy Story sets. They wouldn't have to be huge, just big enough to fit a regular sized minifigure in its hand, but still larger than a troll. This would be extremely cool and good for MOCs . Quote
Oky Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Well, somehow I don't think that they'll include the humans, but I agree that it would definitely be possible. They wouldn't have to be all that big. Andy is barely over twice as tall as Woody, so even Belville figs would do. Quote
Derek Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I can't afford to see LEGO gypped out of another good licensing agreement. Uh, why can't you afford that? If I were the CEO of LEGO, I would cut down the number of Star Wars and Indiana Jones sets being produced to make some Disney sets available. I would like to see an Alice in Wonderland theme complete with a Cheshire Cat. 1. I doubt the CEO controls the liscenses and such. 2. If they did that, they would lose a LOT of sales. SW and Indy sell extremely well with the target (boys), and I'm sure that the company wouldn't gamble changing their focus to Disney. Little kid in store- "Hmmm. Darth Vader's TIE fighter, or Alice in Wonderland Tea party?" There's got to be a way in which multiple themes can coexist for a long period of time. I would hate for more short-lived flops like Galidor, Spiderman, or Speed Racer. Galidor was barely Lego, , and Spiderman and Speed Racer were nice sets. The Spiderman ones ran their course, and I don't think that they were supposed to go on any longer than they did. I don't think that Speed Racer was ever meant to a full fledged theme, just a few, albeit nice, tie-ins with the movie (Which itself was a flop...) Quote

I think LEGO ran Spiderman, Batman, and Speed Racer into the ground. Other considerations for the sales of LEGO sets are consumer tastes. Some people would prefer action to fantasy, while others would like to have both in a LEGO set. LEGO must adapt to the taste of the consumer. Quote
