Dadster Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Awesome! My computer froze for about 10sec right before the release date year showed up and I got extremely enthused that it might come out 2009. Alas, I have to wait 11+ months. I wonder if we'll start seeing some products by the end of the year... Quote
Ratshot Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 (edited) It looks like a good movie as long as it involves Lego bricks Maybe I will get my Dad to take me to see it. Edited May 31, 2009 by Broadside Quote
Justin Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I've seen the first two Toy Story movies. I'm guessing this one will be great, too! I like those movies! I also might like the LEGO sets. Hopefully, the sets will utilize lots of bright colors in different shapes, including some rare pieces. Toy Story quote of the day: Woody: YOU ARE A CHILD'S PLAYTHING!!! Buzz Lightyear: You are a sad, strange little man. Quote
Commander Flash Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Very nice quote justin, best quote in history . They could make a lego rc. or even army men... Quote
Ronan Nissen Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Why is this on the frontpage? Is it because its toys, or because there is LEGO featured in the trailer, or is it because of the Licencing deal? Quote
andy0002 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 honestly i think this is an impossible task for lego to do with a minifigure sized scale( and to me thats what legos all about. the world around a lego man). seriously. go watch toy story 1 and take notes. take notes on everything that is in anyway possible to make with minifigures( wich are the toys, not Andy). comapre your notes with mine: podium talk( give news to toys that the Bday party was today)possible price:$15 Army men spy on Bday party.(includes playskool radio thing, jumprope, and armymen)possible price:20$ Arrival of Buzz(space ship box type thing Buzz comes in)possible price:$10-$20 Pizza planet crane game(rock shaped crane with green aliens)possible price:$50 RC, Buzz, And Woody(scene where they chase the moving van((van not included))) possible price:$20-$30 5 sets for 1 movie. not a lot to work with. however i havent watched the 2nd movie and taken notes on it. so perhaps they'll rely more on that.but now that i think about it most of it revolved around things like the toy stand, the fat guy, a yard sale, a plane,a toystore, and an elevator! again, not to minifig scaled items!!! Lord Admiral Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I think it's fairly straightforward to design sets from even the original Toy Story line, and Toy Story 2 has even more set possibilities. It'd be interesting to see what TLG decided to do with the scale though, as there's both toy scale, and human scale in the premise of the movie. Toy Story has the gas station, the crane at Pizza Planet, the truck scene, Andy's bedroom, and Sid's bedroom among others. Toy Story 2 has several other scenes, the toy store, stinky pete's bedroom, the elevator, etc. And, not only do we not know what Toy Story 3 will bring to the table, but it's always possible to build sets unrelated to the movies using just the Toy Story characters. For example, Buzz's spaceship, or a RC jeep, etc. For minifigures, it's fairly easy to do cowboys, astronauts, and animals like pigs, horses, and dinosaurs. Slinky is also do-able, but the toy soldiers might be difficult, and Mr. Potato head is Hasbro's product and Etch A Sketch the Ohio Art Company's so those aren't going to be feasible. Perhaps the toys in Sid's room will be featured too. Toy Story 2 also has Zurg, the Darth Vader parody. Again, who knows what Toy Story 3 will have. Perhaps it'll feature minifigures, in which case TLG has sets right there. Quote
Oky Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) Maybe they'll have a big Buzz Lightyear figure with lots of play features, kinda like they had the Build-a-Bob! That would be freakin awesome, and the new large dome piece from Robo Attack would be very well suited for Buzz' helmet! Thanks for the trailer btw. It's nice to finally see Lego in Toy Story. Interesting that they released it already, considering that they didn't give us any trailer for their last movie, UP, until only a few months before its release. But who's complaining. Wout Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I'm just hoping that we'll see some LEGO minifigures in Toy Story 3. And that they are fighting with sluban or other clone brand figs who's the best bricksystem. Quote
Legoking Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Hey, a new Toy Story. Looks pretty good! I saw some Lego in there. Can't wait until it comes out since the other Toy Stories were really good. LegoKing Quote
Justin Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 (edited) As you can tell from this picture, Woody is in fact, taller than Buzz Lightyear. If LEGO were to make Buzz Lightyear in minifig form, they could use short legs to depict Buzz as being shorter than Woody. Woody's legs could be standard light blue-colored minifig legs with a printed belt, belt buckle, gun holster, and cowboy boots. Jessie's legs could be printed with cow spots, similar to Woody's vest. The Prospector's hat would be a black "Johnny Thunder" hat, positioned so that the fold faces the front. Bullseye would be a standard brown horse modified to have the cartoony look found in "Toy Story 2." Buzz Lightyear's helmet would either be an Insectoid mask, or a completely new piece altogether. Toy Story quote of the day: Woody: You actually think you are the Buzz Lightyear? ...And all this time I thought it was an act! Hey guys, look! It's the real Buzz Lightyear! Buzz Lightyear: You're...mocking me, right?! Woody: No, no, no. BUZZ LOOK, AN ALIEN! Buzz Lightyear: Where?! Woody: Ah ha ha ha ha! Edited June 6, 2009 by Justin Quote
Brad-The-Brick Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Bah, I'm pretty sure tlg will be lazy and just give Buzz Mr. Freeze's helmet and Woody Iny's fedora. By the way, Woody is my favorite cartoon character of all time. Quote
Oky Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 (edited) A Buzz fig with short legs and insectoid mask? Are you crazy? No, no, no, they better give him normal posable legs and make a whole new piece for his jetpack and helmet! Just look at the picture - Buzz doesn't have short legs; Woody's are just freakishly tall, plus his head is bigger. They could resolve this problem by having Woody be a Jack Stone style fig, but I doubt they'll do that. If Woody is a normal fig, I can see TLG giving him Indy's hat, tough, since it's very similar. Toy Story quote of the Day: Zurg: No, Buzz! I am your Father! Buzz: NOOOOOOOO! (Have you ever noticed that this is the only pop culture reference in a PIXAR movie? I guess they just couldn't help themselves on this one. ) Edited June 7, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
Tinn-man Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 No, no, no, they better give him normal posable legs and make a whole new piece for his jetpack and helmet! I could see a new helmet piece, but they will probably reuse the new clone trooper jetpack or give him back printing. I think that there are going to be so many more new pieces in this theme that TLG isn't even going to give a second thought to his jetpack. On a completely different note, I hope that LEGO decides to give us at least one set from UP, that movie was amazing, and should have sets before a movie like Cars . I admit that there are not many sets that you could make off of the line, but I bet they would sell well. Plus, Avatar only had two sets, so LEGO could branch off of the disney theme and give us two-three UP sets. Here are my three ideas: THE SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE A medium to large sized zeppelin with a few dogs (maybe a new mold), Dug, Charles Muntz, Russell, and Carl. Carl could also come with a new cane, with detachable tennis balls. Maybe the top can come off and reveal a dinning room or a trophy room, like the minifig scale ISD. It doesn't have to be to scale, or even that realistic (in that the rooms are INSIDE the zeppelin, instead of underneath them in the cabin). CARL'S HOUSE A medium sized set as a depiction of Carl's house. Comes with Carl, Russell, and Kevin. Maybe a new balloon mold, and enough of them to create the illusion that there are alot, even if there are only 20-30 of them. The roof can come off to show Carl's living room, with maybe a couple of chairs and a few tiles on the wall with Ellie's picture printed on them. A little adventure book, similar to the harry potter books, would be nice, too. Maybe even a garden hose outside that can connect to a neck clasp on Carl. BI-PLANE A small sized set featuring one or two bi-planes, similar to the Indiana Jones one, only with brighter colors. Includes one or two dogs and Russell. You might as well through Carl in too, so that he will be in a cheap set. Not too much else in this set, except it would give lego a chance to put in some flick fire missiles ( ). That's all I can think of right now. LEGO will probably skip right over this great movie and move on with future projects, but the have done weirder things before. And, even if we don't get UP sets, there still is a chance at an Indiana Jones Zeppelin, and if that ever comes out, expect THE SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE to turn up a few months after it's release . Quote
legomilk Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 What a perfect combo — LEGO and Disney. It has just been announced that LEGO and Disney will team up next year. Toy Story, Cars and Prince of Persia all will get a LEGO make over. Toy Story Children’s imaginations will go “To infinity and beyond” when, beginning in 2010, they will be able to re-create the adventures of Buzz Lightyear and Woody with LEGO toys inspired by the Toy Story franchise. Toy Story-themed construction sets will be available on both LEGO DUPLO and LEGO System platforms, building the adventure and fun for children ages 2-12. LEGO System products based on Toy Story and Toy Story 2 will launch in January 2010, to be followed in May by construction sets based on the new animated feature, Toy Story 3, scheduled to hit theaters in Disney Digital 3D June 2010. Toy Story-themed LEGO DUPLO products launch in June 2010. Cars Lightning McQueen will rev his engine at the starting line of a DUPLO portfolio that will have young builders creating and exploring the high-octane world of the Cars franchise. The Cars-themed LEGO DUPLO line will feature iconic scenes from Radiator Springs and the Piston Cup Championship raceway and will feature favorite Cars characters like McQueen, Mater and Sally. Cars-themed LEGO DUPLO products are scheduled to launch in June 2010. Prince of Persia A line of LEGO System construction toys based on Walt Disney Pictures’ and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Mike Newell and scheduled to release in May 2010 is also in development. The film, based on the best-selling video game franchise of the same name, stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina and Gemma Arterton in an epic tale of Prince Dastan’s struggle to stop an evil ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. Prince of Persia-themed LEGO products are scheduled to launch in April 2010. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Yes, January 2010 for the system Toy Story sets! That's great news. I really like this marketing gimmick that LEGO has taken up with new licenses acquired just before a new movie. Well, I guess they took it up back in 1999, when they released the first OT Star Wars sets around Christmas before launching the new tie-ins in the summer. Still, it's great to get excited about what the new movie will bring! Quote
The Rancor Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Ah... Price of Persia parts will be like an extended Indy market set come true (hopefully, I don't know the film that well). Quote
Lord Admiral Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Ah... Price of Persia parts will be like an extended Indy market set come true (hopefully, I don't know the film that well). A similar color scheme applies to both, but PoP is a little different. For starters, no whip and no fedora. I played through Sands of Time. It's half-puzzle, half-action, and I'm thinking that we'll see some interesting puzzles in both the movie and the Lego sets. But I don't know what exactly is going to be in the movie. Hopefully, it won't bomb, as Lego will have trouble selling the line to the mainstream market if it does. Us fanatics probably would buy it, whether we'd seen the movie or not, or liked it or not. SWMAN Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 First off, you are about 3 months late with this news. Second, I hope that these sets turn out well and aren't cartoony and too kiddy. Quote

The Green Brick Giant Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 They could always do the Toy Story minifigures like LEGO has done with Spongebob, just add some crazy thing on top of a normal minifigure. I too hate the Slap-her-chop and the ShamPOW! Quote
Justin Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 LEGO Disney/Pixar Toy Story being released January, Twenty-Ten, WOW! I really hope to see sets based on Andy's bedroom, Sid's bedroom, Al's Toy Barn, etc. That would rock! To infinity...and beyond! ♪ The toys are back in town! ♪ Toy Story quote of the day: Little Green Alien: Thanks for saving our lives! You are eternally grateful! I also hope to see yellow-orange become a more common color (the color which was commonly used on those little Belville dinner plates), as well as purple, lime green, sky blue, dark brown, and dark red. Svelte Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Wow, I'm surprised that Toy Story and Prince of Persia will be System scale. It will be interesting to see what they come up with, especially for Toy Story. The characters are so distinctively shaped and different that it will be difficult to get them to work around the standard minifig legs and torso, even if all the heads are special moulds like SP3 aliens. I really like the Clone Wars sets, for example, but I don't think the translation from super skinny, gaunt animated figures has translated particularly well to squat, stout figs I would have also thought Toy Story was too young to appeal to the usual age group for System, but Lego knows its demographics. Quote
