jamtf Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 As ImperialScouts pointed out he doesn't look piratical at all. Maybe he broke free from below deck where he was being held captive and grabbed a gun and is attempting a heroic escape! Well, to me he looks like a pirate. Not all pirates have a pegleg and an eyepatch. He belongs to the ship anyway and fits the other guys nicely. Also, merchants sometimes became or were actual pirates! Perhaps the lady on board isn't a pirate either. She is most likely the governor's daughter. No, to me they are all pirate crew and I think Lego intended it that way. They wanted to have more different minifigs and I think they added the rather unique ascot guy to the crew just for diversity. Quote

I think Steve would have wanted it that way... Nice on the governor's daughter bit. I think you are right! Quote

Steve looks alot nicer than that! I'm willing to say that he may be a pirate, but like hinckley39 says, let our imagination make people who to be who. :-) Quote
Governor Broadside Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 On the front of the box he is shown with the (incorrect) Captain Roger head with red beard and eyepatch and he has a flintlock gun and a cutlass in his hand just like his fellow crew mates. Which set is that? I've never seen that before. Got a pic? I've always thought of Steve/Roy as brothers, and relatives of Red Beard, because of the red beard. One was an honest merchant who worked for Governor Woolhouse(?) at ITP, and the other was a pirate that Red Beard allowed into his crew. BTW, funny story about "Steve". :-D Quote

If you look at it, you can see that "Steve" was given the Captain Roger head by accident. The head in the set itself is the one with the red beard but without eyepatch, a unique head that was only used on this fig and the merchant in 6277. Quote
Joza Bezeg Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 My story is, that Steve is a pirate quartermaster and that he is in charge of cannonballs, food, etc... Because he doesn't look too pirate-ish, he can easly fool people into thinking that he's actually an innocent merchant. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 28, 2020 Governor Posted August 28, 2020 Ahhh... the Legend of Steve... An olden but a gooden! Quote

There is no trace of Steve, but that bucket has to be his! Quote

He was the youngest of a family of 9 boys and 3 girls. But life was hard in Liverpool, so his dad became an sailor but lost his life in a tragic accident, he feel down from a mast, wile he was trying to catch a segal..... Steves mom could not get a job, so she had to ask people for money, and if the month where hard sell her self..... She died in 1715 when she walked in front of a horse.. Some say it was an iccident, boths say she did it on her own.. she was tired of life, and did not want to see here anoying kids any more.. At the age of 14 Steve was without his parents, but still had some 3 brothers and a sister left... The three brothers and Steve tried to start a music group, but people said that a music group of 4 never would have an chance in Liverpool.. Sadly this was not the end of Steve's tragic life... 2 of his brothers dies in 1724... One of them, his brother Joe, was hit in his head by something called a blattersack, wile playing a game, where people used thir feet.. He died on the spot.. Steve's other brother Peter went crazy, and ran to the Kings castle at Windsor, yelling that they should make somekind of Entertainment Land there..... The Guards killed him on the spot... Now Steve was left with his brother Felix, and his sister Mary.... Steve went from job to job, being many things like a carpenter, brickbuilder and cleaning toilets. But one morning Mary came running to Steve that she heard of a great job for him..... But tragic hit again, before she could tell Steve what is was, she too was hit by an Horse like her mother.. Her last words where....This is not dandy.... There was nothing to do for Steve, then keep working... And hope that he would get lucky..... One morning a sailor named Redbeard noticed how great he was at cleaning toilets, so he asked if Steve wanted a job on his ship, and Steve was happy to say yes.. So he ran home to Felix to tell him the great news, only to find that Felix had died of the Plauge...... or Hunger.. nobody really knew... So there was nothing to do for Steve than join Redbeard on his ship... Where he later proved himself, as a great figher, leader and toilet cleaner... Steve died in 1767, when he by mistake walked infront of a canon... he was 66 years old. Hope this helped :) legendary post :D I wanted to continue discussion and ask - which version of Steve is the one you treat as the "main" one? the one with light gray pants or blue pants? Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 I am sorry for this heretic question, but the name Steve (sounds not very pirate-ish) was a joke at first that became part of the Lego folklore and Pirates legacy over time? Quote
zinnn Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Pretty much, yeah :) Btw, to modernize Steve, is there a better torso to make him more 2020s-friendly? Quote

Yes, it was joke that eventually became LEGO pirate folklore. I agree that Steve does not sound very pirate-ish, but he began his career as a merchant and later became a pirate, so... But maybe we could call him Scallywag Steve to make his name more piratey. Quote
Captain Becker Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 You know, I cant help but smile of the thought of someone asking His name. And Steve going: I. Am Steve! Just like Jack Black on the new Minecraft movie Quote
