Here's my thoughts

AT-TE

Really well done, I thought it was a good improvement on the first version. It does look impressive, it is one of the few kits I have on display (limited space), but I'm happy to have this as one of them. I relaly like the Rex figure, and this was the only way I got Anakin and Ahsoka. I like the rubber headed flick missiles as well, that was a nice touch. I have done a few setups with my 7 year old and "played" Clove Wars and this is a great kit to set up with a bunch of Clones running around the base of it, looks really good. I thought the price was fair as well.

Gunship

Great ship, Lucas (or his minnions) nailed the design of this ship in the movie and noth LEGO versions have been great. I was surprised how they could do better, but they did. I like the speeder and the figs are great. I really like Plo, and it was cool how they included Assaj. It was a good kit to build, although I too have had a few problems with it being a bit flimsy, I wonder if I just didnt build it well enough. And again this kit is on display for me. One drawback for me seems to be the limited amount of figs that fit inside it, I would have liked to fit a few more figs inside. And again the price was pretty fair (especially if you wait till there's a 20% off, which is what my Wife did when she got it for my birthday.

I would pick the Gunship if I had to only get one.

I think if the question was would you get an AT-TE+RGS or the new LAAT+AT-OT, that would be a tough choice, but I'd take the AT-TE+RGS.

Another thing to consider would be the displayability because I only have narrow shelves and so the wings in the RGS make it difficult to stay on so it is balancing precariously at the top of the room.

I don't own the AT-TE (yet) but I imagine it would be easier to place in battle dioramas because you don't need to make it appear to be flying.

And for me, RGS+AT-TE over Dropship + AT-OT anyday (but they are still amazing)

I expect that the two sets will actually become a lot more popular when 10195 comes out because collectors would like to have the full might of the Republic army and children who want 10195 will be forced by parents to get a less expensive set for their birthday or something.

RGS FTW!!

you kidding the RGS is like a big rock!! :sweet:

Have you been playing Battlefront? It's weaker, much weaker. The AT-TE is the MOCer's best friend, since there is so much to do. You can put to cannons in the back, add more room and seats, make a troop deployment platform, etc.

LAAT/c hands down. I got up at 7:00am on the Saturday those sets came out to get them both. It was so worth it. But the gunship is so sexy in a non-creepy kind of way.

He must mean the LAAT/I. The LAAT/c is far from sexy.

I beg to differ! That set looks amazing! It's like God created (though possibly the Devil priced it,) but I still think it looks amazing.

I have both the Gunship and AT-TE, and sadly I can be of no help. They are both amazing sets. I guess I would say Gunship because you see it more throughout the Clone Wars.

Me personally I like the republic Gunship because its got obi wan, plo koon and asajj ventress and its got a speeder. I dont like the at te cause its got anakin in it and hes in way to many of the new clone wars sets.

So you judge any set by the minifigs?

Perhaps you should stick to just buying the figs on bricklink.com?

Judging sets like these solely on the minifigs included is what I'd call...odd :sceptic:
