paul_delahaye Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Favorite 1, Trains 2, City 3, Technic 4, Old School Space 5, Old School Castle Worst 1, Bionicle (I just don't get it, It's like pokemon to me, I bought 2 and I still don't get it, technic monsters? maybe someone will explain to me, I'd rather have a technic crane) 2, Jack Stone (It's obvious) 3...... Still thinking on this one, if it looked rubbish I did not buy them, hence I don't really know a third bad genre to list. Paul Quote
Norro Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 This is just silly. Cheers! Of course it's not 'system,' it started as a subset of Technic. But regardless, both are LEGO. Not only are both produced by LEGO, both are LEGO and are designed for interconnectivity and creativity. I've consistently argued that Bionicle is not a part of 'system' no more, no less... System and Technic/Bionicle merge quite nicely, as long as you try. I have seen many the advanced builder integrate Bionicle pieces into their MOCs... As I'm clearly not an 'advanced' builder, and not 'trying' I won't comment... It may flabbergast you to hear that, but I would say this to anyone who MOCs. If you can't find a way to use a piece, you aren't trying hard enough. I don't have a 'useless bin' because I don't think any piece is useless. Even those round colored balls with no built in connection location can be connected and integrated into MOCs.] I was flabbergasted at your implications of 'shame' on myself.... not piece use. Of course anything *can* be used... but I don't build just to say I used x piece... I tend to design first, and then build. If a part helps me achieve an effect, it gets used. I don't scratch my head over parts I haven't used thinking it is not a creative model until I've successfully integrated them... Nor do I feel less creative or that I have not 'tried' hard enough. simonjedi Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Themes I like: 1) Star wars - Brought me out of my dark ages, based on some of my favorite movies. Most sets look fantastic and remakes are a huge improvement over the previous ones. 2) Agents - This theme sort of epitomizes the awesomeness of the current line-up. It's wildly creative, uses some great building techniques and is just generally fun. 3) can't think of one, like the rest equally. Themes i don't like. 1)Exo force - I'm not a fan of Japanese Anime anyway so the line didn't really doesn't interest me anyway. 2) Bionicle - I don't hate it, but i'm not a fan either, i just don't get it, they look too much like "action figures" imo. Brickaholic Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Best: 1. Town 2. Technic 3. Classic Space Worst: 1. Galidor 2. Bionicle 2. Exo-Force Quote
Justin Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 2. Spongebob - not to pick on the kids sets, but just dont see how this could be a Lego System set, Duplo yes. I hate it when people pick that set for worst! It's degrading. I happen to be a SpongeBob fan, and I'm 21. There's a lot of kids and adults that like SpongeBob. SpongeBob is suitable for kids ages 7 and up, since the show is rated TV-Y7, so it only makes sense as a LEGO SYSTEM set. I like the pineapple and the Patty Wagon, but the Krusty Krab they made this year is too small. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I guess I don't like spongebob because it is an insistant and constant irritation in my life (really now, even a fan wouldn't watch one episode four times a day...) my small siblings seem to spend all weekend watching it. When something wasn't of an intrest to me when I was the target audiance it isnt going to intrest me today. Plus like all liscenced lego it costs a lot (I love batman, but i only ever bought one small set...) so I rate it low on my scale. Sorry. Lot's of people seem to dislike what was my top theme for the past few years, its all a matter of opinion, as long as you don't let them stop you enjoying what you like it doesn't matter. Quote

I like the pineapple and the Patty Wagon, but the Krusty Krab they made this year is too small. I've got to admit Chocolate With Nuts is one of the funniest cartoons I have ever seen! You should know what I mean. However, I've moved away from Spongbob for a while now - I guess the randomness was too much Also notice that I DIDN'T put Spongebob in the bottom sets - they are expensive but authentic! I could say the same about Power Miners. I'm a Power Miners fan at the moment (still seconded to Star Wars Obviously!), and I can't believe everyone hates the colour of the sets and the use of technic parts. Come on! The technic parts add mechanisms to the sets to make them more interesting. Just take the Thunder Driller for example. A simple bit of technic gearing means that when the driller moves it's drill spins two ways at once. I could go on, because the Crystal Sweeper is also excellent. Unfortunately in Star Wars, clever mechanisms are reserved for bigger sets (for example, the carrying parts on the Dropship to carry the ATOT, coming out in late March). All smaller sets are stucking with freakin' flick fire missles! Quote
Are92 RoWar Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 (edited) What about that ugly, fake, jewelry theme, Click-Its? Most of us here have forgotten about that. If your wondering how I know, it's because I was watching LEGO ads on http://www.youtube.com/. Best: -Agents. It came with rare pieces in new colors. -Power Miners. Finally! Some rock creatures after 5-10 years! (I'm don't know the LEGO time line.) -Star Wars. I only liked the guns. Worst: -Click-Its. Fake jewelry?! What were you thinking LEGO!? -Galidor. 4 words. Big. Ugly. Limb. Pieces. -Technic. I hated it since it started to become 100% non-fiction. Edited March 7, 2009 by Are92 RoWar Quote
DarthSion Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Best. 1. Star wars. 2. SW UCS. 3. SW clone wars. Worst. 1. Harry Potter. 2. Hairy Plopper. 3. Has-been Punk. Quote
LordGalewind Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Best: 1)Technic 2)Space 3)City/Town Worst: 1) Galidor 2)ZNAP 3)Jack Stone Now, I'm trying not to be biased in any of these, but when my good ol' fav' Technic comes under the gun I can't help but question. Sure for some people its different and thats reason enough to like it, but I think all these functions are fantastic. And I'm a tad bit confused on what people mean by fictional and non-fictionaly Technic...either way Technic is still Technic. Quote
3.14 Toasts Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 ***Hall of Fame*** #1. Technic #2. Power Miners #3. City/ Pirates 09 ***Hall of Lame*** #1. Bionicle #2. Exoforce #3. Belville Well that´s my Fame/Lame TOP 3 list. 3.14 Toasts Quote
Bundalings Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) Best: Bionicle (it'll always be my favorite[not to mention it got Lego out of the hole back when it started. It's the most popular line in the US, isn't it? Maybe it's second most popular.]) Fantasy Era Star Wars, mehbeh. Worst: Galidor (???) Robo Rides. I love Slizers, I love Bionicle, but these guys sucked. Didn't they shoot their front wheels? WTH? Jack Stone was like the worst ever. ~Bunda Edited March 15, 2009 by Bundalings Quote
Erdbeereis Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 It's extremely difficult for me to just pick 3 of each, but here goes. Top 3 1) Pirates, both classic and current. 2) Tie: Agents and Indiana Jones. 3) Star Wars. The Toilet-Dwellers 1) Bionicle/Technic. However, I certainly don't think are any of LEGO's worst made themes, I just don't have any desire for them. 2) Spongebob. I don't think the sets are terrible, but the fact they just re-released a set that looks almost exactly like it's predecessor is a big . 3) I'm having trouble thinking of one more, so just insert your least favorite here. Dollar Bill Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Best: 1. Castle. Classic staple, great figs, great buildings, perfect for MOCing, it's THE Lego brand. 2. Star Wars (not Clone Wars). Very great theme that is the bulk of what Lego runs on. However, it's winding down... 3. Indiana Jones. Great transfer from movie to set, with spot-on figs, wonderful vehicles from the 30's-40's, lots of playability. Runners-up: Close, close tie between Adventurers, WW, and the old Pirates. In the middle: Batman, City, Space, etc. Worst: 1. Bionicle. I've just always thought it was a stupid branch. 2. Spongebob. Really? It's an animated show. It's just a stupid idea in general to try and make Lego sets off of that, IMHO (kind of the same thing for Clone Wars). 3. Exo-Force. Never really been into the whole Mecha thing. Runners-up: I've always felt Mars Mission was pretty poor. Same thing with pitiful Avatar . Quote
