February 22, 200916 yr TLC now has the Disney licence. Which if I understand correctly, means everything and anything that Disney does. So, technically, ranging from Snow White to Prince of Persia to, say, High School Musical. And PotC. Possibly. Hopefully. Please? Would Disney sell a licence to EVERYTHING they do? Surely that would be a poor marketing decision? No?
February 22, 200916 yr I think this could be a nice addition to my pirates collection. I am excited to see how TLC would make POTC sets if they are going to compared to mega b($%s.
February 22, 200916 yr Would Disney sell a licence to EVERYTHING they do? Surely that would be a poor marketing decision? No? It seems less logical that they'd sell bits to LEGO and other bits to MegaBloks. So sure, they'll never tell TLC "Oh, do whatever you like, if you feel like making a Snow White set - do as you please!" But generally speaking, I think the option for TLC to make sets based on whatever Disney 'thing' is open. (TLC might think of something and then they need to run it past Disney. Many conversations later, we might see a Snow White set. Or a Space Mountain one. Or neither. ) Edited February 22, 200916 yr by Mr Spielbrick
February 25, 200916 yr I think that a PoTC theme is more than likely when you consider the following: #1: Lego has just reintroduced Pirates #2: Lego is doing sets for Disney #4: Lego will be doing sets from "Cars", which already had a building blocks line from another company. #5: Lego is doing sets form the Prince of Persia, a fantasy big budget live action film. #6: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is coming out in the next couple of years. So I'm of several different minds about this. I would like to see Lego continue its own Pirate theme, but I don't think they'd put out two ships and two forts in the same year--it's just too similar. On the other hand, the ships would undoubtedly be better than, say, Brickbeard's Bounty. The recent licensed sets have been pretty awesome. All in all, I'm looking forward to seeing what Lego does when PoTC 4 comes out--but I'm glad we'll have a few years of regular Pirate Lego before then! :) TC
