As we have so many bionicle fans posting here lately I thought it would be interesting to see how old the average fan is. So, do we have many older bionicle users amoungst us or are most of you young fans? Let's see.

Please make a post with your age in too, as the results of the poll don't show us who voted what, I just wanted to add that as a visual aid for the results.

Thanks for your time! :)

"Fan" is a relative term. I have learned to like Bionicle. Definitely an acquired taste for an old guy like me. I used to think it was hideous, but my kids liked it, and I found it a pleasantly flexible means of building humanoids and other life forms. Some very original things are possible. The recent issue of Brickjournal should make this very obvious, as do many of the contests over at BZpower.

Technic has always been my favourite Lego theme, and the early Bionicle sets from 2001 and 2002 had some mechanically clever constructions. Too bad Lego dumbed everything down after that.

There's some fun in Bionicle for almost anyone if they give it a chance (maybe castle purists and old Pirate hounds are excepted).

Cheers

Noticed while walking through Toys R Us that there were things called "Throwbots". I liked the robot concept, but they looked like pure crap.

Later I noticed they were called "Roboriders",, but now they lost their robot element.

I bought a few severely discounted Lego sets at Goodwill (System, Technic, Z'Nap) in the summer of 2001 (Millenium Falcon $20, some big train set $15, some Z'Nap truck $3 and 3 Lego Studios deluxe sets $10 each) but didn't really do anything with them until buying Bionicle in the fall, because it looked like they finally got back on the robot track... and the joints looked promising for making custom action figures... an endeavor I failed miserably at with resin and sculpting plastic..

For awhile, Bionicle was all I bought.

But, it started to suck SO I started getting more system.

Nowadays, my mocs are a monstrosity of Z'Nap, Bionicle / Technic, GALIDOR (!), system... and somehow, it works.

I'm starting to hate contests that are "system" or "Bionicle".

My stuff BARELY fits into any specific themes anymore.

Um . . . I like bionicle parts. ;) The hard plastic ones in shades of gray and dark colors. Not the bendy, flexible, soft, or wierd colored parts (mostly).

I dislike the sets . . . all of them, so if you have to like bionicle as they are, then subtract one vote from my age group.

A new mecha with bionicle is on its way!

28 over here...

When the first Toa came out I had no interest in them what so ever...until I walked into a Toys R Us and they has some assembled and out on the shelf to mess with...from there I was hooked.

It doesn't hurt that Bionicle also has a well concieved and well written mythos attached to it either. Even back a couple years ago when I took a break from buying Bionicle sets, I always kept up with the latest storyline developments.

I originally bought them to augment my system stuff, I used to have these little adventures with the MOCs I made, and the toa were just going to be another addition to those.

However.

I got way into them, and I'll admit, the original storyline sucked me in.

Then I got onto BZP, started hardcore MOCing, and now I buy system to augment my Bionicle/Technic MOCs.

Full circle.

I won't specify exactly, but I'm in the 14-16 range. Like our Clone Commander here, I also was around for Throwbots and Roboriders. I'll never forget Millenia, my favorite one, aside from Ski. I got into Bionicle because it was a breath of fresh air. I'll always remember the debut of the first comic and the introduction of Kopaka, who was truly a fantastic character. Dark and brooding, yet not to the extent of Batman. I'll also never forget the way they met, it was just a sense of equality and that no single member would overlap another. To me, that was the most outstanding quality of Bionicle.

Yes, I know I'm one of the youngest members here! ;)

Anyway, I've been a fan of Bionicle since 2004. Before then, I had gotten a couple Rahkishi and Bohrok, but never really played with them. Then, in Januarry of 2004, I bought a few metruan, then toa, and it kind of springborded from there. I buy Bionicle mainly for making MOC's, and also, er....telling stories. It's kind of odd that I'm stilll doing something 6 year olds do, but I do enjoy it, and probably will for a while longer. Besides, imagination is what makes me really fun to be around!

|-/ How are there 11 and 12 year olds on here when you agree to a thingy that says you're over 13 when you sign up?

This forum doesn't have the COPPA thing enabled... or it just doesn't have it. (it is IPB 1.2)

I was wondering about that too...

But I checked and I don't think it says anywhere that you have to be 13. Actually, I think EB should change that because well *cough, generalisation, cough* most kids under the age of 13 are, well, annoying. That's just my opinion, don't go hating me for it. If you fell offended, then you have my apologies.
