New super deluxe and ultra cool title for the first person who builds a 9v LEGO plane and crashes it into a tree, while recording video that they share online.

Dead serious here, I want to see this! :sweet:

Righto Imperial Shadows, I want my title!

Hehehe

Well, maybe a bit too late, but; I´m on! Without animation, too!

Just wait and see, Hinck...

(Don´t worry, I think I know exactly which minifig with Hagrid face and Han torso who will be the pilot. )

Oh, wait, there always is 2 pilots.. :hmpf_bad: Ah, a walrus *cough*Sinner*cough* will do.

The video will be up next week! *put evil laughing smilie here* (Well, at least I hope it will.. Ive never put anything up on youtube before.. :look: )

Anyone think about sending it into orbit? I hear if you throw something like 300000 MPH while running, you can send something spinning around the earth.

Lets just hope it doesn't hit a TV satellite. I want to watch the Clone Wars on friday.

How random

Well, if it breaks through the atmosphere, it could work, making a Lego plane fly.... unless gravity crunches it up into a little tiny ball and the it falls and makes a giant crater right where it drops...

sorry Darth legolas I've already tried and failed. It turns out it has to be throwen 300000.005 MPH to get into orbit .you just forgot the extra .005 miles an hour

It would need to be glued in that case

I just had an idea, If we talk to NASA very nicley they would probably take a lego plane up with them on their next visit to the space station and launch it from there.

Awwe crud. I'll need one of those highway speed clockers, and a measuring stick.

@Buttons: Anyone know the number for Nasa? Maybe they'll take it to the ISS and throw it out a window.

My uncle makes those professional planes which go pretty fast and are 4-6ft across. I'm sure if you strapped one of those engines to a lego plane it would fly. Then again, not exactly 9volts.

In all seriousness, I'm darn sure taht if you managed convince NASA it was spurely scientific (which, LOGICALLY , it is), they'd do it.

Just my two penny piece.

I have thought for a while about a LEGO self-propelled aircraft.

I would use the blue panels from the Technic Mars Rover set for flapping wings - they're light and flexible.

I would make some sort of crankshaft to flap the wings and I might have 2 sets of wings that flap together and apart, forcing air out at the back, at a downward angle. I have seen a polystyrene toy that uses this technique for a flying bird.

I would use a 9V PP3 battery box for lightness, a modded Power Functions lead, a PF motor and a PF IR receiver.

Hey guys,

yes, I have made the movie, I just have to put it on Youtube. I´ll post a link here when it´s finished (hopefully in a few hours).

Prepare my cookie title!

Maybe we should call Mythbusters and tell them about the working 9V lego plane.... :look:

Yes, of course I did!

Just wait and see!

(However, now that you mention it, I forgot to put Hinck and Sinners sigfigs in it. :sceptic: Oh well...)

Ok, it´s up. :classic:

Click

to watch it.

Be warned though, as it´s in REALLY crappy quality. I only had my cellphone camera at the moment (makes great photos but horrible movies), so here is a pic as well:

There ya go!

(Oh, and I used an RC train, since I don´t have any 9V ones.)

Finally! Someone has added some scientific research to this discussion. I think the theorem has been extrapolated. What sayeth the rest of youse? Which one is the smart emoticon? :sadnew: This one?

Great work Dennimator. What conclusions did you draw from your extensive research?

YOu crashed your plane into a bunch of rocks? You're crazy dude!

Did anything break?

Me tinks you've earned a title.... :look::wink:

Well no, actually it was a tree with some rocks around it.

Nothing did break or even get any scratches, as I put some tac-it at the far front (where it did hit the tree). And even if it would´ve broken, I wouldn´t have cared too much, as 1) I have a spare of that front piece, and 2) that piece is ugly.:grin:

Yay, a title! :cry_happy::tongue:

AHAH dennimator, I just can't stop laughing XD It was an awesome crash! any survivors ?

Thanks! :classic:

Yes, Hinckley and Sinners sigfigs did survive...unfortunately... :look::tongue:
