David Thomsen Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 I'm completely perplexed by the Bank & Money Transfer. I've called all chains and even Lego head office trying to figure out who has it as an exclusive. Not one seems to know, and all the information I got from the lady at head office was that it was an exclusive, probably to Toyworld. Toyworld know nothing about it. Anyone know anything?
AllanSmith Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Hey Allan - did you see if there were any TS train sets there?? would quite like one of those:) No Toy Story trains at Wellington. Went to Toy World Lower Hutt and Porirua today. No trains there either. At Lower Hutt under the counter they had a carton of series 3 minifigs that they had opened the packets, numbered them and resealed them so that you could get the minifigs you wanted. Lots of popular ones were gone but once that carton is empty they will do the same for another carton.
Legoman Posted January 22, 2011 Author Posted January 22, 2011 Hey Allan - did you see if there were any TS train sets there?? would quite like one of those:) If you can still find it at K-mart, it's currently on clearance for $80 or something insane like that
vmln8r Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Hey Allan - did you see if there were any TS train sets there?? would quite like one of those:) A week ago they had at least two at Moore Wilsons in Tory Street ($139). Wouldn't hurt to ring them, if they have any at their other stores they'll bring it in for you

Hopefully we'll find out with the next Lego club mag - they usually put it on a printout in there as to whom has what exclusive sets. Given that no-one knows, it'll almost certainly be the Warehouse...
harmacy Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) Is it my imagination, or have some of the prices on Lego.com gone down?? For example - 7939 Cargo train is listed at $339, 10213 Shuttle adventure is $169, 8097 Slave 1 is listed at $179, 10193 MMV is listed at $169. These are not listed as specials, but as normal pricing. Could it be that some of our prices have been re-evaluated with the consistently high NZ dollar? Or am I just completely bonkers, and prices have always been at this level? Oh - and thanks everyone who made suggestions around where to get a TS train - Ill be calling around shops tomorrow to see who I can get one off! Edited January 23, 2011 by harmacy

I saw the Shuttle Adventure price and thought it had gone down in price. There was one on Trademe that was I was looking at that was roughly local to me at the same price as Lego.com but is now not. Wonder if the stupidly expensive shipping cost has been reduced as well.

Slave 1 was $200, MMV was $200 and the Shuttle was $200. I think you're right that its because of the NZD. Good to see Lego adjust the prices like that. Unfortunately the shipping hasn't changed.

Good to see Lego adjust the prices like that. Unfortunately the shipping hasn't changed. Yep those prices have definitely come down... Glad to see it! Although I always thought MMV was priced nicely to start with, lowering it just makes it better :) Has anyone seen the new Harry Potter sets in any stores btw?
Legoman Posted January 23, 2011 Author Posted January 23, 2011 Wow, thanks for the heads up guys, thats quite nice! MMV is a steal at that price! If only S@H had 20% off sales like everyone else... Postage will always be a problem, I guess we'll just have to live with that. I'm going to go see if any other prices have come down
AllanSmith Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Oh - and thanks everyone who made suggestions around where to get a TS train - Ill be calling around shops tomorrow to see who I can get one off! Moore Wilsons have 7 Toy Story trains at the above mentioned price
nzkiwiman Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Oh TS = Toy Story! I was wondering what you guys were on about (since I am new to this whole Lego thing). There was one at Kmart Dunedin, though I haven't scanned it to see what the current price of it is

harmacy Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Looks like everywhere I have tried for the TS train have run out. There are a few shops around with it at the original RRP of $199, but Ill flag at that price. Theres also a few on TM, including one with a start/reserve price of $109. BUT, I've just had a look at the new Maersk train set in the the Train Tech forum, and may just wait for that instead - perhaps a Port scene with the Maersk boat? Hey Dragonator - I think I want a Maersk ship now - perhaps we should do an order!!!!
Legoman Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) Heya guys, has anyone ever seen set 66364 in New Zealand? I don't recall seeing it at all.. No wonder it's rare. Also, does anyone still have set 66368 at their local toyworld? I can't seem to find it in CHCH anymore (Anyone in CHCH seen it?), however, If someone was able to get it with the 20% off TW Voucher and post it down (or up) to me I'd be very greatful PS. I've added the 20% off voucher to the first post of this topic, since I know it takes me half an hour to search and find it every time Edited January 26, 2011 by Legoman

Matt The Tuba Guy Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Hi, new here. anyone here from Christchurch? the only place I have bought LEGO from is Toyworld, but are there any other places that might be better? I am probably going to buy my first set in a few years (the Technic excavator) tomorrow from Toyworld Tower Junction.

I am probably going to buy my first set in a few years (the Technic excavator) tomorrow from Toyworld Tower Junction. Welcome I just finished building 8043 - I like the complexity but the performance is a little underwhelming due to the M motors. If you do buy it, make sure you use the indispensable 20% off voucher. You might also want to let the TW people know that 8043s are available for $320 from Lego S@H.
Legoman Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Hi, new here. anyone here from Christchurch? the only place I have bought LEGO from is Toyworld, but are there any other places that might be better? I am probably going to buy my first set in a few years (the Technic excavator) tomorrow from Toyworld Tower Junction. Hi there, welcome to Eurobricks! I'm from Christchurch, and don't have too much advise to offer exept: Toyworld TJ (Tower Junction) Definately attempts to have the best range of seets. They carry a lot of sets ofther stores won't, but everything is almost always RRP. As for price, K-mart is usually best, but their stock can often be quite limited. Their Clearance sales are often very good, if you can keep up with when they are. The warehouse are a bit 'meh' most of the time, but they do sometimes have decent sales of clearance products. Farmers is usually quite good, but have a miserable range. But they do have 30% off sales every couple of months, which is always good for picking up new sets (if they're being carried by farmers), But their clearances are a joke really (Unless you find some really old rare set - but thats quite unlikely in CHCH) Your best bet would just to keep an eye on this topic, we usually find good sales and deals pritty quick, so you can get in before others notice. If you're buying anything from toyworld, please do take advantage of the 20% off voucher (linked in the first post of this topic, and also in the post above this Best of luck! Legoman
Matt The Tuba Guy Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) OK, thanks for the link to the toyworld voucher! I would not have known about it. ETA: am I able to use one of those vouchers every time I go in, or just once? I might look in Kmart to see what they have, because I am going to go to Westfield to get batteries first. does anyone know how well rechargeable batteries work with lego motors? it is almost 2 volts less because rechargeables are 1.2V instead of 1.5V. Brickthing Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 OK, thanks for the link to the toyworld voucher! I would not have known about it. ETA: am I able to use one of those vouchers every time I go in, or just once? You can only use it on one item per transaction, and you're only meant to have one voucher. However, the voucher isn't unique and the discount is provided by the Toyworld franchise rather than the store itself, so the particular shopkeeper might not mind if you use it again on separate occasions. You'd need to print of another voucher each time though.
