I come bearing bad news people.

Apparently NZ will not be getting the Pharaoh Quest sets at all. Not even a single flying mummy. I spoke to my store contact today from ToyWorld who was ordering sets for next year... not a thing. It would seem NinjaGo is meant to be a big seller, as well as Cars and PotC, but no PQ. It was one line I wanted a lot of too.

On the plus side, there is a single retail chain in Australia which will be stocking it, so perhaps that is an option. Also, we will be getting all of the exclusives, including a new modular building simply called "Pet Shop". The Space shuttle is a TW exclusive, not sure on anything else yet. We will be getting 3 series of minifigs next year, 3, 4 and 5. One accordingly has a dragon in it!! I look forward to seeing what that looks like, I'm so excited.

Hmmm, Thats intresting, thanks Draggy

Shame about PQ, But luckily It will save me being tempted by their lovely parts

I'm heading up to Welly this weekend - Anything worth knowing?

Man Draggy you get good info. Disappointing we dont get PQ, the line has some good sets and terrific parts. Its a shame that we arent getting them, but Im sure we will find a way. The pet shop sounds intriguing, the modular are definitely something that has always been in my mind about buying but I just cant see a real use for just one of them. I would need to buy 2-3 and then MOC some to make it look good. The dragon sounds good but my confidence has waned in the collectables. Seems just like big hype over nothing. Though I do hope the dragon is like the gorilla, that would look awesome!

And a little off topic:

Im sorta thinking of changing my display name. I just feel its getting stale and its too long (and to step out of Draggy's shadow  ) Its also partly cause everyone calls me Ron while my real name is Riley. I can see how they would get confused though. But Im really stuck on a name that ties in Riley, does anyone have any suggestions?

That's out of the blue. :sceptic:

I guess NinjaGo is more likely to appeal to the Beyblades-loving child market, but Pharoah's Quest is a more traditional Lego range, which automatically makes it much much better. I'm not going to get either, but it's sad that PQ won't be on the shelves.

So the next modular building is a Pet Shop? Interesting... any due date? I guess it'll be the same time as the Grand Emporium this year.

How can the minifigures range have a dragon in it? I guess it would be something like this:

Thanks for the info Dragonator.

It's around the time where I was going to PM you for information like always

Pharaohs Quest was high on my list and now it isn't coming at all.

That's quite disappointing and sad that Lego sells so badly in New Zealand that we now are forced to face cut backs in the stock.

Well I guess I'll have to get into this NinjaGo thing that I haven't actually don't know much about.

As long as the prices remain constant I don't mind but I am sick of these rising prices taking a lot of money out of my wallet.

If there is one thing I have learned in my years of collecting LEGO, its "dont assume anything about what will or wont be released".

I have seen plenty of cases where it looks like something wouldn't reach Australia and then it eventually does.

Like the Pig Farmer and Kingdoms impulses earlier this year.

Or the red creator sports car that was a Big W exclusive.

In any case if you cant get it from Australia or New Zealand you can always just buy it from Shop @ Home or find someone in the US to ship it to you.

Like Draggy, Ive also got the same contact:) The 'dragon' minifigure is like a person in a godzilla style costume - similar to the Ape / Monkey in S3. It looks pretty cool. What Im really confused about is the frequency of the Minifigure releases. As Draggy has already said, we are expecting S3,4 and 5 in 2011, which IMHO is far too much too quickly.

Im also intrigued by the 'Pet shop' modular building. It sounds a bit odd for TLG to be doing something like that when I would be expecting something more, Um, Serious.... Like a Bank, Library, or something Civic. Perhaps It'll be a small Pet shop on the bottom, and apartments upstairs - Ala Market Street with its croissant / bakery downstairs.

Your start line freaked me out! :cry_sad:

Thats sad that we don't get PQ, I was really looking forward to some of the wings and parts in them.

Hmm, you don't want to change it drastically, I reckon keep Ron in there somewhere...Rileyron maybe?

Oh, that doesn't sound great, a chewbacca style dragon? :sceptic: Im not sure about this, and 3 series in one year is far to much, they won't get much sold imo.

This pet store sounds interesting, maybe we will finally get some more decent pets, not just the dog, cat and parrot.

Im getting desperate now, if anyone is at a TW and see's 2 Quidditch Practice's and a Freeing Dobby, please get them for me and use the TW voucher. I really can't see myself getting near a TW anytime soon, so if you could do this, and put them on TM for me - zjc3 in the title, for the price you payed with the voucher discount then I would be sincerely grateful!

I just really want these sets so I don't want to miss out on them. Thanks!

This reminds me of the movie quote: "Do you want to make 20 bucks the hard way ?" I've been wanting to buy something off TW, it would be cool to get a $20 gift card... Why put it all on TM ? Do you own TM stock or something ? I mean it is $10 off the drain ! Also, do you realize that the 20% applies to a single item only, so the total would be $115+postage ($50 + $50 - 20% + $25), if the check out girl does not recognize me that I've had this coupon a month ago once already. I mean why don't you just go to TW ?

FYI: Whitcouls had a 25% toy sale last week, I ended up missing it. I've got distracted - an eBay buyer claims that the package did not arrive after leaving positive feedback and buying more off me and eBay just blindly refunded the full purchase amount. Beware of eBay selling - you must always ship in a way that you have a tracking number...

It's just that my parents never drive in the direction of a TW, also, they think I have outgrown Lego... Never mind, I guess I'll try to pick them up or wait till some person sells them on TM second hand. :classic:

I don't really like Ebay, not that I've done trades on there, its just there hasn't been good feedback from some of the other NZers here. :sceptic:

Hey CF, if you are still in Albany, why not just catch a bus into Browns Bay? According to MAXX, the 880 will drop you off almost right outside the toyworld there.

Cheers

Who is this contact of yours? It he some shop owner or something?

Any heads up on where I would go in/around Wellington when looking for lego? I'm heading up tonight and staying for a couple of days :classic:

Just been to Toyco in St.Lukes to check out their range, and while I'm not to impressed with their everyday pricing, some of their specials are ok. Most of the LEGO is currently at 25% off, but a couple of items caught my eye:

The city advent calendar is $35

and for your SW types the 10195 republic drop-ship, which they are selling for $250 (they claim its a 50% reduction)

All the PoP stuff also seems to be 50% off too

Cheers

$35 for the City calendar is really good!

Not a bad price for the drop ship as well, not that I need it now. :sweet: I payed $250 for mine aswell.

Well today I caved, and I bought the TIE Defender!

I only really went in because of what Nikkiwi said about the Dropship. I wasnt really planning on purchasing it but just go in and have a look at it. But at the front TW had the TIEs, and they were calling me so at under half price I had to pick one up. Well Im impressed with it, its a nice set. Its got great parts, although just in black and greys and has got an incredible TIE pilot! I kinda think it was worth it just for him. The size is actually pretty impressive, well for a $40 set but not a $110 set. Now I like it, but I have filled up my shelves and have got no where to put it! :sing:

And also picked up 3 collectable minifigs, surfer, lion tamer and the karate dude. Pretty cool figs, to the awesomest ones but Im happy they arent doubles :sweet:

I haven't but I don't like sites that look like that.

Doesn't seem professional enough or something.

Sorry if I've asked this before but does anyone know if Series 3 will be out before Christmas?

They would make great stocking stuffers and I'm getting worried with their lack of appearance to have happened yet.

Yeah, I was thinking on those lines when I asked.

No, apparently series 3 will be out 2011 along with 4 and 5 as Dragonator said. :sweet:

I reckon they will be out soon though, some of the Jan 2011 sets always come out late December so it could be the same with the series 3 figs.
