Legoman Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) just waiting for his reply...hahaha someone has bidded already....i can see a bidding war in the future I saw that.. Dang it. I should have bought it on Saturday when he offered it to me for $500 cash. But I just need to manage to get some cash in - hopefully a couple of my auctions will sell.. If I don't manage to win it, you better. I know you've been wanting one nearly as long as me, and I don't want some random winning it (Hey, it's community spirit... ) Oh hey what happened to all your lego after the earthquake? I know we saw the original damage but did you manage to get all of it cleaned up in good time? Yeah, I got most of it back over the week or so we got off. However, I still have that stupid UCS Ddeath Star in a big box waiting to be re-built (which I keep avoiding since it's such a boring build) Edited December 9, 2010 by Legoman

CommanderFox Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Sounds intresting Prehaps you could post the article on here once it's all done? That'd be cool PS. Harmacy.. Just noticed your Sig... and Love it Yes second that! This should be interesting! Same! ...Oh no you didn't! someone has bidded already....i can see a bidding war in the future This always happens when you get something that rare on TM. If I don't manage to win it, you better. The build is one if not the most exciting parts of a new or in your case broken set. Swishabiling (not a word I know!) comes after. CF
cbhs Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I just sold an 8480 MISB for 450$ ... I have one more in played with condition (99% complete (100% maybe - but just to be sure...), Stickers not applied, box intact, manuals intact) EDIT - actually when I say played with condition, it was built once and sat on a shelf. Hi, are you willing to sell that second 8480 set? Thanks
CommanderFox Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Welcome aboard cbhs! Hope you enjoy EB! Introduce yourself Here. CF
CommanderFox Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Its closing soon! Anyone here leading, I recognize you Legoman and Evil_Elmo, but who is louise38? Good luck! Has anyone heard of any toy sales, since it's coming up to christmas I assumed there would be something like this. CF
Brickthing Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 The Warehouse is sporadically having 20% sales on toys. Last weekend I missed a 25% off all toys sale, but I caught a 20% off sale later in the week. I bought the 4-in-1 Atlantis superpack, which at 20% off $110, was much cheaper than buying all the sets included individually.

CF i lost it :) (wife is very happy) i'm not sure who louise38 is but they have deep pockets and congrats to them for winning a awesome set
RileyC Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Is it worth just bricklinking the parts and instructions? Would that be cheaper than buying the whole thing?
Legoman Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Is it worth just bricklinking the parts and instructions? Would that be cheaper than buying the whole thing? It may be a little bit cheaper, But it would take up a huge amount of time and effort which IMO would get very annoying. Ah well, Better luck next time

Ah well, Better luck next time Yeah, but if you really want it then maybe you should start Legoman! It would only take you at most 2 months to sauce out all the parts and get them shipped. Just do it in your spare time. CF

CF I tried doing this a few months ago - All was going well in my calculations untill i got to these parts.... This one And this one All of a sudden, a relative bargain turned into a expensive folly. Honestly - for anyone who missed out on the TM auction, get one from BL for less than $500NZD plus postage. Edited December 13, 2010 by harmacy

This one And this one All of a sudden, a relative bargain turned into a expensive folly. Honestly - for anyone who missed out on the TM auction, get one from BL for less than $500NZD plus postage. That is a problem! Yeah, I reckon that is the best option. I've decided that i'm just going to either wait till a second hand 4737 and 4736 come up on TM in the next few months or maybe get them off BL. They are way cheaper on BL, but I don't know the shipping cost, could be really expensive. CF

Nikkiwi Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Is there anyone out there that regularly, or in the near future intends to shop at an off shore BL store, who would be willing to add a few extra items to their order? I need a few parts that seem to be common offshore, but no-one in NZ has them, and it is not really cost effective for me to buy what I need then pay 4-5 times that in shipping and foreign currency exchange and transfer fees etc. anyone able to help, please drop me a note. Thanks in advance Nick

Thanks in advance Nick Gutted, I just placed an order last week. It could be a couple of months before I do another off shore order, But I'll post it on here first in future You could always let me know the parts, I may have them lying around

nk4002r Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) Lego 8043 is back in stock here in NZ: -Fishpond: $651, ouch: http://www.fishpond.co.nz/Toys/LEGO_Sets/Technic/0673419129374/?cf=3&rid=2118303077&i=1&keywords=lego+8043 -iqtoys; $400 shipped, wow: http://www.iqtoys.co.nz/product/lego-technic-motorized-excavator-8043/ FYI: ToyWorld may also get a pre-Xmass shipment (very soon) ! If I may add: I've nearly completed my 8043, fantastic model, totally worth it. I even have the bucket of the old 8851 from my childhood and that one works very well on this model. Do you know if this shipment contains the new wave of sets or restock of old ones? By new wave I'm referring to the 2011 Star Wars lines released in the US and Series 3 Minifigs. Well this sounds promising I may want something for Christmas after all. Thanks for the info nk4002r
jonwil Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Doubt it would be the new sets. Likely just restock of old sets.

Thanks for the info nk4002r Don't know, I think this is a specific shipment just of the 8043, because they sold the first wave really fast and there was a crunch. But we may get lucky. Normally the next year stuff gets a very limited release in the States (ToysRUs only right before Xmass) and we only get them late Jan or Feb, again I'd love to be proven wrong. Those battle packs are awesome, they will be hard to resist. I am planning to wait until they come out in a combined set though... This year I jumped in too soon and then they released several 3 in 1 sets, now I'll wait for those.

Do the 3 in 1 sets work out cheaper that individually buying? I haven't really noticed their releases and I guess it's a good bargain if one is hunting for a bigger set to bulk up with figs also. Now I'll keep an eye out on my Toy World and hope to be surprised.

I think a battle pack is free or maybe both ? I've missed out on this one, because already had all 3 sets: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=66368-1 But I bought 1 like this just for the Wampa - my son already has a Snowspeeder and the other two sets, so those I put on TM: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=66366-1 Normally the combo sets would only contain last year's battle pack, but they seem to have broken the pattern with the above 2 combos: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=66341-1 Edited December 16, 2010 by nk4002r

Sam here, I saw them at Kmart for $22 each a snapped one of each, but then round mid year onwards Warehouse always has them for $17.50. But I can't wait that long! Alright then I guess we will wait and see. Do the 3 in 1 sets work out cheaper that individually buying?
