RileyC Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 The packets do have the little dents (dots) on the bottom but they are almost impossible to make out. That's what I was expecting. I think people hyped up these bumps far too much in my opinion, but I dont go and hoard minifigs cause I think that's just wrong. Though I did pick out 5 of the series 1 minifigs, and 3 series 2 all different without looking at the barcodes. At least feeling them will still work!
Dragonator Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Wow! Went to Farmers and picked up both the Battle Packs for $17.50, and the Battle of Naboo for $35! I did the same, it was a nice surprise!
CommanderFox Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I did the same, it was a nice surprise! It was indeed! I must say Legoman, I encourage you in buying afew of the Naboo sets, they are GREAT! Happy New Years all! Hope everyone has a wonderful year, hopefully less earthquakes for you CHCH people. CF

Hope everyone has a wonderful year, hopefully less earthquakes for you CHCH people. CF Thanks The problem is, I acully like the earthquakes. The damage sucks, But If nothing bad happened during them, they are seriously a lot of fun But I know a lot of people don't feel the same way Hopefully I'll manage to get out to farmers today... And hopefully they'll have the new sets out

And hopefully they'll have the new sets out Haha I suppose they would be fun! They should have them out. BTW, has anyone gotten any of the Ninjago sets? Im kinda keen on afew of the $10 and $13 sets. They have nice parts and the Ninja's are cool. Might go to Farmers again and get some. CF

CF As I said earlier ( ), I bought three of the $13 Ninja Ambush sets. For the low price, you get two great minifigs and plenty of useful parts.
Legoman Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 I just got home fromquite a nice trip 4 Battle of Naboo's, A V-wing, and an ARC-170 (Down to $84 because there was 1 part missing ) Now for a relaxing day of building
epic_red Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Just got home from Farmers! Bought 1x Helicopter and 1x Minifig collection. I like the minifig collection but the Police helicopter seems smaller than the Fire one. That said, the two sets do go quite well together and with 30% off they are a bargain. What are the Ninja Go sets like? Might have to make another trip......
RileyC Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 (edited) Today I bought the two battle packs and Battle Naboo. I was tempted to buy the Bounty Hunter Gunship for the same price but im happy to get that at 20% off, its only $10 dearer so it aint bad. But $35 for the Battle of Naboo is amazing. That's 2.91 a minifig without including parts! I didnt buy the V wing just yet because Im going to wait and see if its selling or not. I'd love to pick it up at the same discount the TIE defender Edited January 1, 2011 by Roncanator
Bricktrain Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Any luck on finding a white one? PM me if you do and you are okay with selling them. CF sorry havent found mine but did add one to a BL order so will have it in a week or so.
David Thomsen Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 The Warehouse has 20% off LEGO. They have series 3 minifigs which are not automatically discounted, had to get the checkout to change the price. The packets do have the little dents (dots) on the bottom but they are almost impossible to make out. Oh... I thought the discount was only on selected lego, and the minifigs weren't included. Infuriatingly difficult to identify the minifigs, though fortunately some of the pieces are extremely easy to identify. Although now that I think about it, I hope I didn't mistake the hula girl's maracas for the rapper's maracas. Should probably go open them and check...

Yes, I paid full price for my minifigs the other day too :(. Moreover, I had a hell of a time identifying the figs. I bought 24 all up, and about 4 of them could find those mystery dots. Have 15 out of the 16 figs - still need an Alien. The Hula girl is one of the hardest to find imho, I bought a few wrappers thinking they where the hula girl. Best bet is to look for the hair...

The Hula girl is one of the hardest to find imho, I bought a few wrappers thinking they where the hula girl. Best bet is to look for the hair... Yeah, the ridges in the hair were the distinctive feature for me. Quite a few of them have convenient giveaways, like: The cyborg and alien have a 3x light sabre bar The Samurai has a flexible sword The Ape's banana is impossible to mistake for anything else As is the Mummy's scorpion, just hold it by the tail and look for the claws The Snowboarder and Pilot have goggles The Elf's bow, if you can seperate it from everything else The grip on the Baseball player's bat The rapper's boombox The tennis player's racquet The race car driver has a disctinctive rim on his helmet And so on. The trouble is that I can spend minutes looking for anything other than a torso, legs, head and base, and these minutes do add up. Meanwhile, everyone else is looking at you like you're a crazy person. Edited January 1, 2011 by David Thomsen
Grrr Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 And so on. The trouble is that I can spend minutes looking for anything other than a torso, legs, head and base, and these minutes do add up. Meanwhile, everyone else is looking at you like you're a crazy person. That's the main problem. I'd say it takes about 2-3 minutes per bag. Also, only once you're overly familiar with all the sets do you stop making mistakes. For example, the Samurai's sword is flexible, as is the Fisherman's rod. The cyborg is definately the easiest, just look for his pin leg.
Dragonator Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Gentlemen, we have a unique opportunity available. The Maersk Container Ship is currently on S@H for $139.99NZD, clearly a mistake, as it is 119.99USD, 169.99AUD and 129 Euros. If we could get 4 people to chip in on ordering one each, we could split the shipping, which would be great. Brickthing and I are both keen, anyone else? We need to do this ASAP before the mistake is noticed.

I'll probably leave it sorry, but best of luck! Depending on when you order, I may be in touch as I'm meeting with fellow Lego Fans tomorrow and will bring it up with them too, as they may be intrested in one. Cheers for the heads up!
Dragonator Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 You don't think it is a mistake? I would have expected the RRP to at least be more than Australia, more like $200NZD. But, maybe we're just finally getting some good prices.

But, maybe we're just finally getting some good prices. Well, it probably is a bit of a mistake, But Not too huge. Nohing like the Death Star being $400 More Like the Cafe Corner being $160. A bargain but not an insane deal as such. Still nice to have it at a good price though. My guess would probably be that it's supposed to be $200 too, so it's like 30% off. Not bad, if it's a set your actually wanting
David Thomsen Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Is any store selling the Bank & Money Transfer? I thought it was coming out later in the year, but it's on S@H now. I didn't see it at the Warehouse or Farmers, so I'm assuming it's a Toyworld exclusive?
harmacy Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 (edited) More Like the Cafe Corner being $160. Oh man that was a sweeeeeet deal! - I wish I got more than 2 of them! I would love to have snapped up a few more Green Grocers when they were on special last week too, but they all sold out. Boo. Very tempting to get a Maersk set, especially with all those lovely blue bricks, but Im actually more interested in getting the UCS Obi-Wan JSF if you are planning a S@H order. $139 is not too shabby. UCS JSF Is certainly very tempting. I was going to mention it but thought that K-mart will probably get it in Mid-year and have it for $80 on clearance by next christmas So I think I'll leave that one too at this stage

But man would that be lovely! I'd definitely get one. Im off to the Warehouse now, hopefully will spot the Mace set and the Battle Of Geonosis and grab at least one if not both, today I think is the last day of there sale. CF
nzkiwiman Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Hi from Dunedin. Saw new Ninjago, Star Wars and City Police in Warehouse, Farmers and Toyworld on Sunday, and then Minifigure Series 3 at Warehouse on Monday. Had to pay full price for the mini's even with the advertised discount. (GRR) Purchased most of the Police City sets, along with a couple of the smaller Ninjago sets @ 30% off -- that will save me a bit of coin. Have to read a few pages back in this thread to see what other news people have posted about what is coming out this year in New Zealand.
CommanderFox Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Welcome to EB nzkiwiman! Hope you enjoy the site and our NZ topic! On page 187 post 2794 AllanSmith has a list of the sets we will be getting for the year from his contact. I went to Warehouse before but no sign of the Mace set or the Battle Of Geonosis, so im guessing they are coming out in Febuary of late Jan like the Ahsoka's fighter and Dooku's solar sailer afew years back did. I say some Limited Edition City sets at Warehouse though so hopefully that means the Mace and Geo set which are both LE will be at warehouse and not at Toy World. Just a small thing, I noticed that Warehouse are selling the SW BPs for $22, not $25 like Farmers. Even with the sale Warehouse have at the moment though, it still isn't as good as the Farmers sale.
