Dragonator Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Anyone know when New Zealand is getting Pharaoah's Quest sets? Its not on the list on page 187 and in the Australian thread they are mentioning mid year for Australia. I did mention it earlier in this thread, but apparently NZ isn't going to be getting the Pharaoh Quest sets, as LegoNZ has a limit on what they can order or some crap like that. I am seriously annoyed about it, it's probably one of my favourite new lines for this year. Australia is getting it limited to a few stores I believe. Myself, I'll be ordering it all in from the US I'd say. What a pain...
nzkiwiman Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Oh really .. that is annoying. I am after the three smallest sets. Guess I will have to look on Bricklink and other sites to find the best deals (but not until April when I can start spending $$ again)
Grrr Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Oh really .. that is annoying. I am after the three smallest sets. Guess I will have to look on Bricklink and other sites to find the best deals (but not until April when I can start spending $$ again) Might be able to get them from Lego.com too ... New Zealand has been pretty lousy in general for small sets. I've ordered one copy of 7567 from Lego.com last year, but would like more, but have never seen it in store anywhere in New Zealand (or in any of the many Australian stores I've looked in either).
nzkiwiman Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Farmers Dunedin has all three of the basic Heroes Factory chaps for $20, and the three bigger ones for $25 Also all three new Creator (Dune Buggy, Helicopter Transport and Log Cabin) Warehouse Central Dunedin had the above as well, although no log cabin.
nk4002r Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Yikes! I'll gladly swap you a station set for falling water if you are still keen! I too think you will get a decent price for it on TM, but if you still want to go ahead with a trade, I'll be more than happy do that with you! PM me if you are still keen. Please, let me join the queue. I also have a Harry Potter blue car (used but OK) to sweeten the deal. :) That is worth $20 (USD) on eBay.
harmacy Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Please, let me join the queue. I also have a Harry Potter blue car (used but OK) to sweeten the deal. :) That is worth $20 (USD) on eBay. Hehehe - everyone wants a Fallingwater!! - Let us know when it goes on TM David!
nzkiwiman Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) Because I am too new and don't trust the other forums, I was hoping someone could help me with these minifigures I purchased in a lot of Trademe. What series/line are they from, are they complete and if not what would I need to complete them? I figure the figures in the top photo are incomplete, and not sure if the 'Orcs' have the correct weapons. I got the lot because I wanted the big troll figure And just because I can, I started a display of my Atlantis stuff I have opened Edited February 7, 2011 by nzkiwiman

Callum Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Because I am too new and don't trust the other forums, I was hoping someone could help me with these minifigures I purchased in a lot of Trademe. What series/line are they from, are they complete and if not what would I need to complete them? These guys are incorrect... the shield looks to be Megablocks? while the rest of him is mismatched (Armour is from vladek, but the rest of the body is not) The undead is partially correct, she is meant to have a reversed slope for a dress, rather than legs. (She is from the Lego Fantasy Era castle chess set) The orcs are correct... they are orcs after all, they use anything they want :) although one is using a shield from a skeleton knight. (I collect orcs btw... Just sayin! :) Callum.
Legoman Posted February 8, 2011 Author Posted February 8, 2011 In case people haven't seen, The Warehouse has some of the Atlantis stuff up to 50% off
nzkiwiman Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 In case people haven't seen, The Warehouse has some of the Atlantis stuff up to 50% off Just coming to report that 8056 Monster Crab Clash - $6 8057 Wreck Raider - $8 8061 Gateway of the Squid - $40 8075 Neptune Carrier $50 From 9/2 - 15/2
RileyC Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Just checking, I know they are supposed to be out in feburary/march but has anyone seen the SW exclusives?
nzkiwiman Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Thanks for the help with the minifigures. I took some better pictures as the above was too dark Anymore help would be fantastic This is the Skeleton Knight shield? And the helmet one of my Orcs had seemed to be different - does it belong? Cheers
jonwil Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 All 3 helmets are correct for the orcs The first minifig is this one http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=cas353 except with legs instead of the dress slope The staff in her hand is made from this http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=x12 plus a 1 x 1 cone and one of these http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4095 The second fig has this armor http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2587pb09 The shield is not LEGO but everything else in your photos is LEGO. That ovoid shield with the skull on it is a skeleton shield. In any case congrats on picking up what looks like a reasonable selection of Castle minifig parts :)
Bricktrain Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 the different shaped helmet comes on these minifigs http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=48493&in=M
nzkiwiman Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Thanks for the replies, it has been very helpful for a Lego newbie. I am quite anal about having incomplete things in my possession (I mainly collect Transformers and just cannot purchase anything incomplete) hence why I am trying to match things. I gave the Orc that had the shoulder protect the silver sword thing and the cooper helmet and have told myself he is from set 7037. While 3 Orcs with bronze swords, silver/black helmets are from set 7408 (only two in that set so one is an extra). I have an extra Orc with sheild and I will eventually purchase a silver sword thing and a correct helmet from a New Zealand bricklink trader. Rather have the legs on the chess part so will keep as is, but not sure what to do with the other figure.

maelgrim Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Has anybody ordered from shop.Lego.com (i'm sure many have). Just wondering how long I should wait before getting worried :) I have Daigon Alley, Medieval market & Winter bakery coming. It said it shouldn't take more than 13 working days (13th day is tomorrow). Its likely a big package so maybe it will take a while? anyone with similar experience? Cheers My order arrived today - yay! Took a bit longer than advertised (shipped on 14/1) but all good in the end.
epic_red Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Woo! Picked up a 8057 today, but I'm even more excited that I managed to get a S3 Fisherman! Sweet!
nzkiwiman Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Picked up a 8075 today. Decided against 8061 and will get in the weekend when I have more $ on me Also learnt something new, you can't layby WOW! deals anymore at the Warehouse.
White Nun Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 For straight out MOC type building work such as say, - an abbey and a Medieval village, - is it better to be buying sets, or to simply hunt out bulk quantities of bricks in useful colours such as white, grey, dark grey and black? I often see job lot toy box clearout type sales on Trade Me, but am reluctant to bid because I don't want to end up with piles of brightly coloured bricks I can't use. Then on the other hand for a permanent model I could try building walls with job-lot yellow, red, blue & etc bricks and then spray paint them a nice masonry colour; - or is that a no-no that would get me banned from Lego forever? I live in a rural area and don't travel outside of the district much, - so who would be a good reliable mail order type trader to deal with?

If there are some sets you can find cheap either in shops or on TradeMe or Bricklink and it has the right coloured parts in the quantity or some of the quantity that you need, then that is a good option. If not, then hunt round for bulk lots on TM of parts, buy them, keep the coloured pieces you need and resell the rest (might be able to find a buyer here). Or go directly to BL (bricklink) and buy the specific parts in the colours you need. Hope that helps. CF

Reds, Blues and Yellows can also come in useful for MOC'ing, particularly with some of the more advanced construction techniques out there for buildings (e.g. tudor style buildings). Red is also good for Brick (as opposed to stone) buildings. Blue, brown and green bricks and tiles are also very useful for landscaping. Re: TM job lots, my experience has been that big piles of coloured bricks isn't really the problem, it is the large pile of specialised bricks/parts (esp. from more recent sets) that can't really be used for much else (e.g. I had some 10x10 trans orange discs with printing on from a SW set which were useless for a castle fan). My experience has also been that if you know what you want to get, then Bricklink is often a cheaper bet than TM -particularly if all you want is parts, as there are many sellers out there who have discounted prices if you want to order in bulk. TM job lots really are pot luck and often heavily competed for, which generally makes less value for money than BL. The few TM bulk auctions I have really gone hard for have been ones were I have identified specific parts from specific sets (generally old ones) I've been interested in, and purchased in hope of getting most of the set. Even then, I've almost always had to go to BL to get parts to complete the sets. As for spray paint - wash thy mouth out....;) Cheers Nick
