Legoman Posted July 22, 2011 Author Posted July 22, 2011 Boo! Got the dreaded customs letter in the mail this morning I bought the Imperial shuttle and Pet shop from the same BL seller in the states for $440US inc postage (at the time = $530NZD), and now have to pay an extra $102 to get it released. It still works out significantly cheaper than buying retail (when they get here that is), or buying direct from Lego.com, BUT - its still a pain. That is a pain! I do hate customs fees. GST + $37.50 can make a deal a lot less sweet very quick.. Glad it still worked out cheaper for you though mate Would have really sucked if it totaled more than S@H

Lego Pinocchio Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I think I already know the answer to this but just in case i'm wrong do they still sell prince of Persia sets?
RileyC Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I think I already know the answer to this but just in case i'm wrong do they still sell prince of Persia sets? My local k mart, in Hamilton, has PoP sets for prices lower than RRP. I think Farmers may have some too. But check all the stores that stock Lego in your area as they may have left over stock anywhere. Bought the Battle of Genosis set today. It's pretty good and I'm surprised at the size of the Turret. I really thought it was going to be pretty small. Luminara is a really nice minifg. Has got some really great printing on her. Captain Rex I love to have. He's such a rare minifg and looks really good. Is there any sale on Star Wars Lego on Toy World at all? I was there today but didn't see any signage for it...

Those have been clearanced for ages now, they must be dirt cheap? You should check out the prices, surely they'd be worth it for parts! (That may have something to do with why theres not any in CHCH K-marts.. )
Lego Pinocchio Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Yea that's the answer I expected to hear, that they had been in clearance but it's nice to hear they are still available in some places. Thanks for the help :)

The $25 set is still $25 and the Ostrich Race set is discounted to $20. Can't remember what the other prices are but I know they aren't discounted enough for me to buy them. Haha I was thinking about the Ostrich Race set but it isn't much of a parts pack at all. The only good thing about it is the ostriches and they aren't worth $20.
Fatteh Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Grrrrrrrr. Fishpondscum. Two out of two orders dropped because they never actually had the stock. What a shonky outfit. That order was for my lad's birthday. Never again. An 8018 AAT for $26 from TM helped ease the nerves some.
nzkiwiman Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 20% off all Lego at the Warehouse (and online) Thursday-Sunday only.

Fatteh Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 ouch, did they refund you? Nice job on the AAT! CF We used a credit card and it appears the charge was reversed. Seems quite a few people have had a similar problems with Fishypond.
Lego Pinocchio Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 20% off all Lego at the Warehouse (and online) Thursday-Sunday only. That sounds quite good though I still have to receive a Bricklink order and I am winning an auction on trademe so I sadly I may have to pass.
epic_red Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I went to the Riccarton Warehouse today. They had a bit of HP stuff, which is pretty good at 20% off, but didn't buy anything(although the Hogwarts Express looked pretty good) and they also had the new SW stuff.
Fatteh Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 One for the collectors: Cloud City Boba Fett on TM, $10 start bid, no reserve.
CommanderFox Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 One for the collectors: Cloud City Boba Fett on TM, $10 start bid, no reserve. Im kinda dubious about it being authentic. Decals maybe... If anyones wanting the link it's here. CF

Callum Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 And in the sale, I picked up my first Lego in quite some time, Macks Truck (since I have a thing for Trucks) Ahh you got the truck! :) I left empty handed... Will order some figures off Bricklink I think. RE: Boba Fett, it is confirmed to be just the regular Boba (not the cloud city version. damn)
harmacy Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Just received my BL order - A UCS imperial shuttle and Petshop. Built the shuttle this afternoon, and oh my god! What an amazing build! The sheer amount of bricks is awesome (when I say bricks, I mean good old fashioned 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 2x4 bricks etc etc) The build reminded me a lot of the old UCS Rebel Blockade Runner - lots of really useful bricks. If you get the chance to buy this set, dont hesitate - its brilliant!!! (even if you need to layby it for 6 months:)) Will build the Petshop in the weekend, and will post pics of my townscape in the town forum...

RE: Boba Fett, it is confirmed to be just the regular Boba (not the cloud city version. damn) I spotted that as well, they should really be more accurate with their auctions.

CommanderFox Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 There's a thought. Jango Fett Battle Pack anyone? Well placed skepticism CF. I see it so often, 'jango fett included!' umm, excuse me, thats just a regular mando. Thanks, I think anyone who owned a fig like that would know its value, or atleast research it's value. CF
Lego Pinocchio Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 got my order from bricklink yesterday and made another one today, I really am addicted to lego but..... I have started what I believe to be quite a cool moc of prince of persia
jp-30 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Hey all. I assume the exchange rate hasn't made NZ S@H's prices any better? I saw an ad for this company; http://www.buyusa.co.nz We offer our members a real US street address that is unique to them. We operate from a facility in Boise Idaho. When members have their items directed to their personal BuyUSA address in Boise, we receipt the goods on arrival, tell our members via e-mail that the item has arrived. The member can then log into their mailbox to view details about the items that have arrived for them, and supply us with the required information about the shipment. The user can then schedule the items in their mail box for shipment to their New Zealand address. BuyUSA will then follow the instructions we are given to on-ship to the member's New Zealand address. It's really easy! that could be useful for purchasing via the US S@H. Anyone used it (or anything similar)?
Legoman Posted August 1, 2011 Author Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) Intresting JP. I've seen similar sites before, But never actually used them.. Seems a lot of work. But Could be intresting if anyone's tried it? I'm aware this is very random, but I thought I'd put it out there none the less. Does anyone here like Lollies, Chupachups or flavoured milk? Or have use for them? I have a fair bit of both.. Some of you may have use for such stuff in your lines of work or whatever so I thought I'd put it out there. I've got about 200 65g Bags of Natural Confectionary Company Lollies, 200 ChupaChups, and 200 250ml Flavoured milks (Variety of Strawberry, Chocolate, and Banana). I'd consider trading for Lego, Just to keep it Lego-related Even though It's supposed to somewhat be fundraising, Lollies traded for Lego still means I'm not buying the Lego, Which means Money that would otherwise be spent on lego anyway can go towards funds Strange for EB I know. But anyway, Flick me a PM If you think you might be intrested. Can provide Pics if need be In other news, Has everyone been making the Most of the Dollar? I'm super tempted by a 10212 UCS Shuttle, But Still convinced I should be able to get it cheaper Will see how I go. If I see one under $300 I'll do it, But $340 is the best I've seen so far.. harmacy Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I spotted that as well, they should really be more accurate with their auctions. On that note - check this one out..... LINK. Ive informed the seller about date/age error and the fact that these are new and complete with helmet, head and air-tank on BL from $17. If I see one under $300 I'll do it, But $340 is the best I've seen so far.. Just be carefull with the customs bill!!!! Mind you, and I've said it before, but the 10212 is prob my favourite UCS ever!!!, so just make sure you get it! Im going to be bricklinking a bit over the next month, so will reap some NZD goodness! My parents are also in the States at the moment, so they've bought me fallingwater and some random keychains and other legoey goodness.
