Bricktrain Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 After a few years without trains I finally gave in with Toyworlds 20% sale today and bought both the current train sets. Waiting to see if Lego S@H has a sale before I order the Maersk and new Cargo train sets.

CommanderFox Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 LEGO is addictive. It so is. I only got two sets in january this year and the temptation has been crazy to get more!! Had a small look in on Kmart today when i was at the sales in albany, not much on sale. My brother wanted a Ninjago set and it was $39, he scanned it and it showed $25, so afew things must have 'secretly' been on sale. Don't know why they don't advertise though. Looking forward to 2012, the SW BPs look great!! Can't wait for the clone one especially! CF
AllanSmith Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Is Toyworlds 20% sale on today? There is a Cars 2 set that is exclusive to Toyworld and normally is $200. Which is a bit much for the number of pieces in it. But $160 would be OK for it.

Hi Allan, not sure if the sale is continued, but sometimes if you ask in the store they may give you a discount anyway. I felt a bit that way about the trains, I was reluctant to spend the full retail but at sale price it was more acceptable, but that is the way it is with nearly all Lego in NZ now, one of the reasons I probably wont be restocking my BL store again. Now I have started getting trains again I do have a little withdrawal from some of the pieces I sold you, but at least I can have the fun of building them again. I have bought the Maersks now from BL, it ended up cheper than S@H
Legoman Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 Hey all, I'm back from India. Got back just in time (Literally within 2 hours of getting home) for Fridays Quake.. Yay for being a Cantab Hasn't been a very Lego-y Christmas this year, But I'm hoping to head out soon to have a look at some plastic drawers for parts storage (Layers of Ice-cream containers is getting a bit annoying with a growing collection ) I'm just planning to have a look, But has anyone here got any experience with such sorting, and ha any advise? I'm currently just looking at plastic drawers to go either on, or under my desk. Hopefully I'll find something useful at a good price Hope you've all had good Christmas'

I have bought the Maersks now from BL, it ended up cheper than S@H Picked up the Tokyo International Circuit set 8679 today for $160. I bought 3 Maersks early in the year when LEGO S@H had free worldwide shipping. Think I will get the Red Cargo Train that way next year. Been buying most my sets this year at The Warehouse or Farmers sales (usually 20% -25%).
AllanSmith Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 30% off toys at Farmers stores until tomorrow. I picked up 3 Alien Invasion Tripod sets so I now have an invasion force of 1 mothership, 3 abduction UFO's and 6 tripod UFO's. Should look good on my next show display layout
Legoman Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 I didn't end up finding anything good enough to buy over the last couple of days, Though some of the K-mart clearances (Heaps of Cars, Ninjago and POTC, some HP, SW, and City too ) were rather tempting. May have to head back at some stage. But I just did a random Trademe Check and picked up this which was quite nice, I've been looking for a secound NXT for a good price for a while, so at that price including a couple of extra decent sets, I'm very happy. Right place right time
RileyC Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Hi guys, Haven't been on EB for quite sometime! Boxing Day sales haven't been so great this year. Though the Farmers 30% off was to hard to pass up so I got the Imperial V-Wing. Its quite a nice set and the mini figures are really great. And at 30% off it was a great price too. For Christmas I was given the podracers and woah boy its an awesome set. Its definitely the best set I have gotten in a while. The size of these things is incredible and far bigger than what I was expecting. The minifigs are really great and the detail is awesome. I really recommend this set to anyone. I hope you guys are picking up some good deals!

Been buying most my sets this year at The Warehouse or Farmers sales (usually 20% -25%). I have found a few 20% sale items at Toyworld and Warehouse which is the only time I have bought any large sets, farmers at Rangiora dont have a lot and last time I went to Kmart Riccarton they had a very small selection. I havent been able to find on Lego S@H where it says GST is included in the price which it used to say, now I can only find where it says customs duties are the buyers responsibility. It makes me a bit dubious about making a large order.

It makes me a bit dubious about making a large order. I split the order over 2 days, 2 Maersks on one order and 1 Maersk + Winter Bakery on the other. As it was free shipping over a couple of days. GST was included and I think if the order is below $400 there is no duty this end. The only time I got hit with duty was when LEGO mucked up on a Grand Carousel that I got express shipped the day it was released. They put the price on the documentation on the carton in Euros instead of NZ$. Which converted to heaps of NZ $$$$. As I needed it for a show the following week I paid so I could get it released. That was shipped through DHL were as normal shipping is with someone else and that has no documentation on carton.
CommanderFox Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Anyone sited the 2012 sets? I was in Farmers today and the 30%off sale is still going, but no 2012 stuff. This time last year i picked up the new BPs and the Naboo set and with the then current 30% off sale it was great! Was hoping i'd get the same deal this year but no go... Ah well, will keep my eyes open.

I'm currently just looking at plastic drawers to go either on, or under my desk. Hopefully I'll find something useful at a good price I've got the ones in the left of the below picture. They're made by Sterilite and are about $40 or so from Mitre 10. The drawers can be removed completely, which is quite helpful. Cat's out of the bag by Nannan Z., on Flickr I havent been able to find on Lego S@H where it says GST is included in the price which it used to say, now I can only find where it says customs duties are the buyers responsibility. It makes me a bit dubious about making a large order. I agree - one of the good things about S@H was having certainty and confidence in the cost and security of your order. With this policy, I can't see any reason to purchase from there instead of Bricklink.

The drawers can be removed completely, which is quite helpful. Is that you with your collection? Imperessive! Is the $40 for a set of 3 or set of 4? The ones I'm getting are almost exactly the same exept they're NZ made, and Cheaper (hopefully they're still good quality...). $19.99 at the Warehouse or $20.44 at Bunnings. Bunnings will beat the Warehouse by 15% making them $17ish, Which is good. But I'm not sure if I should wait for them to go 20% off or something at the Warehouse, so I could get them down to $13.60 at Bunnings I bought one Grey and one white just to see how they look (they also have Dark blue availible), here's a pic: You can see the old way of parts storage below: Icecream containers. This should be much better when finished I'm still not sure which colour I prefer, But I'm leaning towards the Grey (Luckily it doesn't clash with Lego Greys). So that's my holiday project On the other note, Surely Lego S@H Must still be including GST? Otherwise thats absolutely criminal.

Might be time to send Lego an email..... I'm away from home at the moment, but Ill post a pic of my storage I got from Repco when I get back to Tauranga. Basically consists of 8 small drawers and 4 large drawers in one 'cabinet' about 20cm square. Cost $9 each too, which was very cool, so got a lot of storage for $60 total. Borrowed a label printer from wifeys work which meant labelling each drawer was nice and neat. EDIT: Have emailed Lego - will post response when I get reply. Edited December 31, 2011 by harmacy

Why would they charge NZ GST? That is the responsibility of customs.
vmln8r Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Is that you with your collection? Imperessive! Is the $40 for a set of 3 or set of 4? Nope, that's Nannan. They were $40 for a single set of three drawers, so not cheap at all. I bought three sets, but I will check out the Bunnings/Warehouse ones you've got. Can the drawers be removed from those? Isn't S@H an overseas website? Why would they charge NZ GST? That is the responsibility of customs. To make things easier for the customer?

I bought three sets, but I will check out the Bunnings/Warehouse ones you've got. Can the drawers be removed from those? Righto, Yeah, thats definately pretty steep. I showed Bunnings that the Warehouse had them for $20 (They beat anywhere by 15%) so I ended up buying 10 sets of 4 at $17 each at Bunnings. They're completely modular, and the drawers are removeable. Here's a picture: I also used some Foam Board I found to seperate out the drawers like this: Which was much easier than finding containers that fit inside and such. They're availible in Grey (What I decided to use), White, and Dark Blue. And best of all they're all NZ made It's win-win for everyone Isn't S@H an overseas website? Why would they charge NZ GST? That is the responsibility of customs. To make things easier for the customer? Funny you ask that Fatteh, now that I actually think about it, I'm not sure.. But I know they always used to. Perhaps to make it easy and simple for the customer as VMLN8R said, or mabye for they're own accounts- As Lego NZ has their own offices in Auckland and should be Tax and GST Registered. Will be intresting to see what responce Harmacy gets

Did they apply it to all purchases, or only those that exceeded the customs $50 minimum GST limit for incoming goods? If they were charging it on everything, people were paying more than they should've. Had a funny trip to the Warewhare yesterday. Was checking the price on the unpopular $80 Freeco superpack and the box I picked up happened to be torn. I thought someone had probably raided it, so took it to customer service to make an offer for whatever was left. Everything was there. I tried it on and said I'd give them $50 for it. The guy said 'Nah, forty'll do'. Okay.

If they are charging you NZ GST on items which are included in a single package with a total value of less than $400 or so, they shouldn't be. Such a package sent from offshore is exempt from GST. If their pricing doesn't change depending on the total value of your order, then they are not charging people correctly.
