P.S.: Hi guys

G'day! Always great to have another kiwi on board, And it's great you seem to be up to speed so fast :laugh:

Anyone seen this site, fishpond.co.nz the have cheap lego somtimes and have the prices for the new technic coming this year.

http://www.fishpond.co.nz/Toys/LEGO_Sets/Technic

Sorry if someone has posted this info, I could not see anything about it in previous posts.

Yeah, Fishpond is definately known.. Quite a few people aren't fans of them (Myself included) Because they often cancel orders and have insane pricing (Advertising RRP being double what it actually is, then putting the set 60% off kinda thing). But feel free to give it a go, I'm sure there's still bargains to be had

Yup, Lego is most of the time overpriced there (and it hilarious to see people on TM sometimes advertising those prices as retail :sceptic:) but its worth checking it out every now and then...

Indeed

I've been looking for City of Atlantis and Fishpond had it for $100 with free shipping a couple of months ago, which I thought was a good deal. The only other shop I could find it at the time was ToyPlanet...

Does anyone know how come some sets aren't supplied to physical stores? I asked at Toyworld Dunedin about it, can't remember what they said though, probably that they will receive City of Atlantis sometime this year, but it is peculiar that they stock Portal of Atlantis released in 2010, which has been 50% off for a while now but that there hasn't been a trace of City of Atlantis yet (or maybe it is already sold out and I missed it, but I doubt that) - why are some sets delayed and others not? For instance, a few months ago they received Pet Shop (2011), Imperial Shuttle (2010), Tower Bridge (2010) and Imperial Flagship (2010) all at the same time...

City of atlantis came out most places mid last year and got clearanced.. I got one for parts for $70 at toyworld late last year. Haven't seen them around for a while, I'm guessing they're sold out

As for why we get quite random waves of D2C sets - That's just the way Lego NZ does it... :classic:

I'm actually looking for Tower Bridge at the moment (Decided to collect the landmarks..) - I'm kicking myself for not getting one for $240 a month ago from Amazon. Ah well, It's not like they're retired yet. On that note, I don't suppose anyone here has a 3450 Statue of Liberty or 10189 Taj Mahal they'd consider selling or trading? I'm very intrested

Warehouse mailer has just gone live on their website...

Farmers Home Sweet Home mailer live on website...

Cheers for the heads up :classic:

Actually, I recently bought 7 64x64 baseplates from Fishpond for $11 each, as well as 2x Kings Castle for 102$ each... They do tend to muck you around a bit, but if you hold your ground the product shows up.

You are from Dunedin? More the merrier down here!

BTW, City of Atlantis was definitely in the stores here, I have 5 of them on my shelf :) Awesome set. The Warehouse clearanced them off some time ago however, but Farmers still has stock.

Phew

Today I gave in and bought up some sets at K-mart. I got 2 of Each of POTC The Mill, POTC Cannibal Escape, and Heroica Fortaan. Pretty happy with the loot, for $236 (RRP would be $440) :classic:

Will definately be getting more POTC if they get any cheaper

Hi All

Farmers Takapuna has the Series 6 Collectable Minifigures. I grabbed a random 14 bags and was wondering about my luck when 5 opened bags in I had 3 highlanders! Ended with 9 different and some duplicates. Went back later and tried to feel the rest. I'm left needing the robot and the spacegirl. Was sure I had the robot but it appears I may have confused a teddy bear with a robot head... as 1 does

They have about a half dozen City of Atlantis too.

I see, I definitely missed it then at the time somehow. :hmpf: Good luck with the Tower Bridge, you might as well consider getting it off TM in the near future, while the value is still below RRP, it never hurts asking sellers if they would do a reasonable price but you know that as being one of them. I got mine from French Amazon a few months ago but the box was so damaged (torn in fact) that I'm quite reluctant getting any more of these heavier sets off Amazon. But if you can get it for a good price it's certainly worth it, although I can't see them listed on any Amazon atm so maybe its days are counted...

Yup, might be seeing you while scouting for Lego deals  You have five of those?? Wow  I really need to check out Farmers sometime to see what else they've got.

Seriously, still? I was so desperate that in the end I got it off German Amazon.

Btw, there's 20% off on selected Lego in Toyworld atm.

Another Dunedin person. Welcome.

I guess I shall have to rush to get Lego thats on major sales and discounts now that there is more competition locally.

(Joking - no job means no funds for the bricks at all)

Ah, good move  I wish I'd got one from Amazon.fr before Christmas, but didn't. I'm watching one on TM at $380, but that still seems far too much, well over $100 more than Amazon had it for

Went to the Warehouse today, they had Cars, POTC and Pharaoh's Quest reduced, with about a 30-35% discount off pretty much all the PQ and the Cars and POTC sets that they had in stock. :classic:

I only check out the stores occasionally so unless there's a 30% sale mailer you have nothing to worry about.:grin:

Sorry to hear about your funds i.e. lack of those... :look: Well I guess the thought that you can't afford your hobby is itself a motivation to search for a job intensively.

Yeah, sometimes it's hard to tell with Amazon, you kinda dwell on the price until it's too late and its gone. But if you just have the item in the basket (panier) or saved for later (mis de côté) keep an eye on it, sometimes it suddenly comes back in stock, like Death Star did recently. If it does, also check Amazon.es & Amazon.it, these two seem to be somehow parallel when it comes to items in stock, with Amazon.es generally having the lowest prices among all three. But then there's always the problem with ES and IT not shipping most sets to NZ (some weird random selection which changes through time, usually simultaneous with the change of pricing on the item), so it's worth taking the item through the checkout occasionally just to make sure.

That Tower Bridge on TM has such a shiny box, I keep looking at it with envy...:devil: But it is stinging, isn't it, when you know it's not worth that much atm but you would so love to grab it. Well you can always snatch it in a few months time when it reaches this value if you don't get lucky searching for it elsewhere in the meantime.

I so know what you mean ..Unfortunately

I've stopped using Amazon.fr because of the high postage, but still keep an eye on it every now and then.

I haven't found anything (Well, that I'd buy anyway) on Amazon.es, but have had slightly better luck with Amazon.it, Though a lot of newer stuff still won't ship here. There's still good deals to be had on all the Amazon sites, but it depends on just how good you want the deal to be before you place the order.

But things do tend to sell out pretty quick, It seems the Emerald Night, Shuttle Exhibition, Imperial Flagship and Grand Emporium have all now sold out. Thanks for the heads up though, I'll keep it in mind :classic:

Oh stop taunting me

So true though. That's my current plan, I think. If I can't get one 20% off at toyworld or something, I'll do that. It'll hopefully stay there as a last resort

Hey all,

Just thought I’d let you all know, The Kiwibricks website is up and running, which is really exciting! A massive thanks to Brickthing (the amount of effort he's gone to for this site is huge!) and a couple of others, it's all go! Obviously we're not expecting anyone to stop using Eurobricks, that would be just silly. It's for those of us that are keen be involved in the NZ Lego community, and be part of NZ events and LUG's, it'll be a great place to meet fellow Kiwi's, and do trades and talk deals and stuff (Like this thread). It's still semi-under construction, but it's already a fantastic site!

I'm sure Brickthing will have more to say in the coming days and weeks, but it'll be great to see you guys over there (Similar usernames would be good, as Members currently need to be admin approved to avoid spam) :classic:

The site looks great, I just checked it out then  . I can't wait to see the New Zealand community grow, and some events closer to home would be great even if they are just community builds or something like that to start with.

Legoman & Brickthing: Wow! That's great news. I would really like NZ to have it's own, official LUG, and I this looks like a big step in the right direction.

Hmm. It looks like only two have sold on TM in the past three years. I recommend Bricklink.

Thanks so much VMLN8R you have made my day. I have been searching for ages and now I have found 1 for a good price. I had seen a few on ebay but they were $400+USD.
