KnightlyKnight Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Well I just went and checked out the Farmers in Manners Mall here in Wellington, and no new IJ sets. Well they were all there but still in their shipping boxes when I was in on Tuesday and hadn't made the shelves. I was in on Thursday and they had new star wars sets (and I think Indy too but I was in a rush), including about 4 echo base's. But I was in there today and they were sold out of echo bases (guess someone's been stocking up ), and I had to go to Queensgate farmers for one. Queensgate definitely had Ambush in Cairo, the Chauchilla Cemetery Battle, and a bunch of new star wars, but I wasn't paying much attention with my 19 month old in tow. Haven't seen the Venerator yet at farmers. So I am now +1 echo base and it is SO cute. I love the visors followed by the Taun-Taun and the turret. I really like the tank droid but I can't justify buying it at the moment as I am trying to limit my Lego purchases to mostly OT sets. With Endor and Home one coming out this year, and the off chance that the death star might turn up in stores (& on sale) sometime I need some money aside. I won't be able to pass on endor but I'm not sure I can justify the cost of home one for an A-wing and some (very cool) mini-figures.
MagPiesRUs Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 (edited) I checked at a few of the Farmers stores in Wellington, and the only one to have the Indy sets was Lower Hutt, though there were only a few left. I picked up Ambush in Cairo and Venice Canal Chase, both lovely sets. Edited June 6, 2009 by TinyPiesRUs
Fumoffu Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 IJ *droooools* i would like to get at least the Ambush in Cairo tan barrels ... but am JUST consentraiting on SW.check it out i just got my very own Commander Fox set http://www.trademe.co.nz/Toys-models/Lego-...n-222677312.htm im so proud of it just have to wait till it comes in the mail now CommanderFox CommanderFox, make sure you update your profile photo with your new Commander Fox photo but I think your custom Commander Fox is pretty good. $210 for Venator is a good discount but I think that's still overpriced for the set ... just not as overpriced as $300!!
CommanderFox Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 (edited) CommanderFox, make sure you update your profile photo with your new Commander Fox photo but I think your custom Commander Fox is pretty good. Great idea Fumoffu ill put that plan into action as soon as i receive Commander Fox Thanks on saying my custom Commander Fox was good, its nice to see my work appreciated if you want more pics of my custom clones just check my sig. Im not selling them anymore because some people got annoyed that the sharpie was coming off ohh well their loss i guess CommanderFox Edited June 7, 2009 by CommanderFox
Brickthing Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I just got back from Farmers Albany and they had all the IJ sets except the Cemetery Battle. However, they also had the new City Corner, Camper, Tow Truck and Car Station. So I got the City Corner for a reasonable $70.
Ravi Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Hey im am just wondering does ToyWorld ever discount old lego sets. Price before discount was $50.They also had advent form 2008 for $50. I dont see why they are selling at full price. Can someone elaborate

They don't make enough on individual sets to justify putting some old ones on clearance, so it's more profitable for them to wait until somebody like you sees the old set and jumps at the opportunity to get it. Bigger stores like The Warehouse do it all the time though, because they always want to have the newest sets on the shelves all the time.

Couple of years ago I snapped up that big Exoforce Fortress set for 50% off and last year I picked up the Twilight for $100. I didn't find the same sets with the same discount at all the TW. Only one of them.
CommanderFox Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Went to Farmers today and got Nutes shuttle...just finishing building it now and i must say its a beut that and Fox arriving hopefully tomorrow is making this week one of the best in awhile Nutes shuttle was only a beutiful $49 so that was extremly satisfying man that buy 3 or more items and get 30% off is one awesome sale i might get an IJ cairo set later on if the sale lasts longer. They are only $17.50 so thats pretty good CommanderFox
Legoman Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Only at Kmart (July)10188 Star Wars Death Star 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker Quoted from the Aussie sales thread. If last year is anything to go buy, then K-mart NZ and K-mart AU have the same sets in their big toy sale. I'm looking forward to the death star! Hopefully they'll have is discounted too (they had $200 off the falcon last year)

I hope NZ will get the Death Star too AND a good discount like the Falcon last year!! Fingers crossed!!

Only one of them. Where are you from Fumoffu? Wellington like me? My understanding of that was it was extra stock that lego were trying to get rid of (and thus it wasn't a TW discount but a Lego NZ discount). They were doing it as a bulk lot sell off at TW Balance street and Moore Wilsons. I got one from MW for $50, not bad for a $189 set. It's one of the only times I've bought something to re-sell on Trademe. I was nice, and set a "low" reserve and sold it for $100 IIRC. I felt like I had both made a good profit and given someone a deal (thankfully they didn't know what I had paid). When I went back a week later they were sold out (I should have bought more the first time but wasn't sure of the market and had a Wife telling me I didn't need any more lego). I better start saving for the Death Star I guess. How I'm going to justify that one to the wife I'm not sure, she already wants me to sell some stuff (it's the space she has issues with). Maybe I'll have to sell the Exo-force stuff I have packed away for my kids when they get old enough (all bought at close to 50% off). I can't quite bring myself to sell the electronic R2-D2, I'm not quite ready to give up on my PT Star Wars sets, and I couldn't sell my OT sets as I've spent far too much time amassing my collection even if it is mostly packed away. And welcome Huck from a fellow Wellingtonian. P.S. you flicker link didn't show up.
CommanderFox Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 (edited) WELCOME to EB huck to flat i hope you will enjoy it here...if you could try doing a link to your Flickr again that would be appreciated I would like to see your MODs Fumoffu i think ill miss the Cairo set as ive been spending abit latly so the parents wont be to happy if i get more lego CommanderFox Edited June 10, 2009 by CommanderFox
Fumoffu Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I'm in Auckland KnightlyKnight. I thought I got a bargain at $100 but not as good as your $50. Oh well! Can't win it all. I think I'll need to start saving for the Kmart sale coming up. CommanderFox I think many of us Kiwi Lego fans spent a bit this last week with all the new sets coming out and the 30% sale at Farmers. What it tells me is that if TLC will just reduce their prices by 30% then they will sell heaps more and a lot faster too. I hope this 30% thing will be a regular.
CommanderFox Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Hey Fumoffu i didn't know you where an aucklander because i thought it was just me and 3D Brickthing up here, guess i was wrong do you shop at albany? for Lego? yeah i hope these sales keep coming and getting better BTW i thought you guys might like to now that ive got my 7681 Fox set its AWESOME though the legs are abit wobble and they dont fit in to base boards without alot of changing positions but thats OK ill live with it CommanderFox

So does anyone know where in wellington i can get set's that are , older, and discounted? PFFFT, if they still exist! Flickr

Don't go to Albany much because its too far. Do much of my Lego shopping at the Toyworld in Onehunga. Its the one Toyworld that don't seem to inflate their Lego prices above the RRP. I remember reading some reviews abt the Spider Droid being wobbly. Doesn't stand well on its legs and not all that playable. Legs keep falling off if you try to move it. I bought one just for Cmdr Fox.
RileyC Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Damn i cant afford the death star! Oh well i dont really think its nessesary 4 my collection.
CommanderFox Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 (edited) Hey huck to flat those are very nice Blys what paint do you use? lucky you having those printed stormie legs im interisted in Customizing my clones as well and would love to get some of those Beuties off minifiguremaker but alas they are alittle on the expensive side and plus they have to be shipped all the way to NZ which would be abit aswell These minifigure domes are from where? http://www.flickr.com/photos/31391696@N07/...in/photostream/ because im really interisted in them and if you could, would like a link to them do you know how much they are? Thanks CommanderFox P.S. how much is the Death star Roncanator is it the same price as S@H? Edited June 10, 2009 by CommanderFox
RileyC Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 um i dont know but im guessing it would be around the S@H price. If were lucky k mart might stock it and they always seem to have the star wars stuff cheaper than the S@H price
jonwil Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Does anyone have any information or rumors on the actual release date (not what the catalog says) for any of the following in any shop (depending on when these will hit, I may want to have some kiwis get some for me): City Corner Indiana Jones Cemetery Battle Creator Family Home Space Police impulses K-9 bot & Space Speeder These are the 4 sets that are on my "must buy" list, if they arent going to come to our neck of the woods anytime soon, I may have to go ahead and do a Shop @ Home order to get me some (i.e. City Corner)

I haven't seen any Space Police sets in NZ yet (if anyone has then please let me know as I'm interested in having a look). Not sure about the Creator Family Home since that's not an area I look at much (mostly City, Castle, Star Wars and Indy for me).
jonwil Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) Ok, given that these sets arent likely to be out in Australia anytime soon (City Corner and Cemetery Battle), I would like to see about possibly ordering both sets from someone in New Zealand. What I want for this to work is someone from New Zealand who: 1.Can accept payment (in AUD, NZD or anything else, I will pay in whatever) without using PayPal (as they are on my personal black ban list because of previous bad experiences with them) and without the need to send a physical letter (e.g. money order or cash-in-the-mail). If there is a way to directly transfer money from my bank account, that would work, as would a way to pay via VISA, as would other electronic transfer options. 2.Is willing to buy the City Corner and Cemetery Battle, unpack them, repack them with as little empty space as possible (but keeping the bags unopened and the instructions and stickers intact so they wont get damaged in the post) and send them to Perth, Australia using International Air 3.Can give me a pre-quote in whatever currency so I know exactly how much I need to pay. and 4.Can do all this with no major delays (i.e. if you wouldn't be able to buy and send it for 3 weeks, dont bother) Also, if the person can get hold of the 4899 Tractor (I dont know exactly how you can get one in NZ, just that you can) I will buy one of those too. EDIT: If you can help, contact me via the contact options in my profile. Oh and mods, if this is in the wrong place, please move it somewhere appropriate. Edited June 11, 2009 by jonwil
