Callum Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 50,000 SKUs, give or take at a store, means finding Clearance takes a good while.
Legonz Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Just got an email this morning offering free shipping from the Lego Shop if you spend $120 or more. Ordered the Palace Cinema - wonder how long it will take to arrive!!
harmacy Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Yikes - 31 August?? Thats a pretty long deal - but very welcome. I too will get the Palace Cinema, but will still get my UCS B-Wing from BL, as the NZ price is just too high!

xangodango Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Hi all, Im coming over to NZ (Auckland/ Hamilton) from the UK on Friday for 2 weeks. any requests? Have mountains of stuff, too much to list here, e.g. polys x hundreds. After that we're moving over properly at the end of June. Speaking of which, does anyone know the Duty/ tax situations for people importing their Lego collections?
Fatteh Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Speaking of which, does anyone know the Duty/ tax situations for people importing their Lego collections? Welcome. I'm fairly certain that the personal possessions of immigrants are not subject to any duties. Here you go (from http://www.customs.govt.nz/features/charges/dutyfree/Pages/default.aspx): When entering New Zealand either as a returning citizen or resident, or if settling for the first time, your household or other related effects will be admitted free of Customs duty and goods and services tax (GST) for a reasonable time after you arrive, provided you can meet the following requirements: You have arrived in New Zealand and, on the date the effects are imported, hold a document authorising residence in New Zealand. For the whole of the period of 21 months preceding your arrival, you have lived outside New Zealand (brief holiday or exploratory visits do not exclude a person from qualifying for this concession). You have owned and used the goods before the date of your arrival in New Zealand. The goods are for your own personal use and are not intended for any other person or persons, or for gift, sale, or exchange. Exceptions The following goods will not qualify for duty-free entry, unless you can establish that they were for your own personal use prior to their arrival in New Zealand: Any goods shipped directly after purchase to avoid local taxes in the country of export. Replacement electrical equipment operating to New Zealand standards. Goods of a commercial nature (such as factory plant and office equipment). In these cases you may need to pay Customs duty and any other applicable charges.

Where in New Zealand are you moving to?
harmacy Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 The May 4 specials have been uploaded on Lego website - and I've got to say I am quite disappointed. The savings equate to around 7% off the SSD, DS and R2 sets. The B wing and new X wing are at normal RRP. Yes, you do get free shipping, the Han fig and a poster, but even Toyworld does better than this on a regular basis. I'll be curious to see what the equivalent set savings are when the US time ticks over.

I'll be curious to see what the equivalent set savings are when the US time ticks over. Yeah, they're pretty sad offers. I also got this gem via email last week when I tried to order some stuff to my US reshipper (Shipito): "Dear Alex, Thank you for your recent order, YXXXXXXX. In an effort to protect personal consumer information, LEGO Systems, Inc. has elected to no longer process shipments to Third Party Shipping Vendors. We have determined that because your order is scheduled to ship to such a vendor we must, accordingly, cancel your order. We regret any inconvenience this may cause you. If you would like to submit another order or discuss this matter with us, please contact one of our friendly Customer Care Advisors at 1-800-835-4386 (from within the US or Canada) or 1-860-749-0706 (from outside the US or Canada). We are available Monday through Friday from 8AM - 10PM EST and Saturday through Sunday from 10AM to 6PM EST. Please have your order number handy if you need to get in touch with us. Sincerely, LEGO Systems, Inc. Consumer Services" Gee, thanks for protecting my " personal consumer information", there I was thinking that I just don't like paying through the nose for LEGO
CommanderFox Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Just wanted to wish everyone...May The 4th Be With You! Hope its a fun day filled with star wars and lego for everyone! Too bad the sales on S@H aren't great, hopefully we'll get some good local sales within the next few weeks. CF
nk4002r Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I've also got a cancelled order like that. The official explanation is that overseas stolen credit card fraudsters used these forward shipping companies. Due to privacy reasons, they could not reveal to the customer where the package was shipped to or something like that. But we all know that it is to protect regional price mark ups ignoring international currency fluctuations. But you can still get a good deal from Toys'r'us - they started to ship internationally - although they have a GST miscalculation and charge the GST, if the total+15%exceeds $400 - so effectively charging gst from $315 instead of $400. Very annoying, because the shipping costs are not exactly cheap. I've had tons of "fun" sorting through Series 10 Lego figures in Wellington. 5 boxes worth in Jville, 4 in Moore Wilsons and then spent over 4 hours in the Lyall Bay Warehouse sorting through figures - I think there were 12 boxes. Insane, either my method is wrong or I was too late or there were no Mr Gold over there... I hope they'll do a reedition or other give away bags, because 5000 is just way low. Even from Star Wars standards: there were 10000 chrome gold C3PO's and possibly 20000 Chrome Vaders ! (I've got both of those) May the 4th be with you too ! I am not sure if the Han Solo figure is worth to place an order this year - I've bought stuff in previous years.
CommanderFox Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Nice to know Toys'R'us is doing international shipping. Any news on the supposed $400 import limit for new zealand decreasing? Someone mentioned it afew pages back, is it definitely going ahead? If so there goes brick link orders on big sets. Im tempted to go and hunt but it will be fruitless i can see, 5k Mr Golds are just far to few I can see there will be probably 2 or 3 in NZ. Some little child will just hit lucky... No the solo fig isn't worth it imo... CF
harmacy Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Ive seen 2 Mr Gold's sell on TM so far - $650 and $750 I think.... I guess we cant expect to see too many here in NZ, but in all honesty, If I got one I would sell it too - more money for Classic Town sets!
CommanderFox Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Wow thats alot of cash for a figure....well if 2 have already been found and sold, there may be afew more for NZ, we may get lucky! CF

Any changes will take a year or two to come into effect, hopefully. Looks safe in the interim. When the highly limited and very sought after comic convention figs are fetching a few hundred at most, I can't imagine it's dedicated lego collectors. Who is it?

Both auctions were bought by the same trader: http://www.trademe.co.nz/toys-models/lego-building-toys/lego/minifigures/auction-587428208.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/toys-models/lego-building-toys/lego/minifigures/auction-588426893.htm Either really obsessive collector with deep pockets or someone believes these are actually gold... Or they might be onto something and will try to sell two nearly sequential numbered certificates on eBay for $2000? If I've found it, I would have kept it, but it might be smart to sell now and then buy it back real cheap once the prices settled down as more are found... Some people want to be the first to secure these for their collections.

What a waste of money. I think so to. Too much cash, if you get lucky, well and good, if not then let it pass. Unless you have the $ to shell out for 1 figure. CF
Fatteh Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Toyco and iQToys both have 20% off at the moment. Most of the large sets are excluded from the sale at Toyco as per usual, but the iQToys sale includes sets like the trains, modular buildings and the B-wing ($360 - still not a patch on the BL prices, especially after the US May 4th discount).

Fatteh Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Latest Toyworld catalogue has sale coupons on the back for 17-20 May. The usual 20%, 25%, 30% and 50% (under $30 only) off, but I couldn't see any "excludes LEGO" on there.

Think I might use that 30% off one on the White house, it comes down to a very reasonable $63 - for, IMO, one of the real beauties of the Architecture line! I'm not sure I'll be able to bring myself to not use that 50% off tag though.. I'll need to have a look at whats worth buying in the <$30 mark.
