not sure what is wrong with the toyworlds in chch but they havent had any stock for months now....no slave, no detectives office, no simpson house

the staff just keeps on saying they are waiting for stock, i only managed to pickup a mini cooper

That's a bummer - when I travel around different cities I try to check out the Toy Worlds for Lego, mainly to see how well they stock the range.

Hamilton despite having only the one store I've found to be very good as far as getting stock. They get nearly all the exclusive stuff in if only for a time, on the flip side it's very unlikely to have an out of production older set, anything like that which might have interest just wont stay on the shelves these days :sadnew: When I first came out of dark ages it wasn't like that...

As an aside, you can utilise the 20% coupon online - I know they did have those two sets available online from a few weeks ago - just looked though not good news sadly

does anyone remember what the original price for 10182 cafe corner was?

I think most people blinked and missed it, but it will have most likely been $300 at most

toyco has a one day lego sale 20% off all sets

finally got the detectives office and slave set, but missed out on the simpson house

Congrats :)

I was just about to post about the sale. Yeah it looks like a lot but not all exclusive stuff has moved so it's definitely worth checking what is available... Makes me a bit gutted I didn't wait on the Slave set, but I suppose I didn't do too badly overall.

For those who may be interested, Toyco (http://toyco.co.nz) are having one of their LEGO sales in which all of their LEGO is reduced. Often the more expensive items are excluded but this sale is one of the ones where even those have been reduced. The sale ends tomorrow (Wednesday July 22nd).

David

Has the Facebook page only been a recent thing, I only joined facebook myself a few weeks ago, mainly because we are trying to get more social in the Lug, planning more activities and get togethers.

I don't suppose any Kiwis know of an online store which ships to Australia which might still have stock of the more recently retired Modulars (e.g. Town Hall and Grand Emporium) by any chance? Even if they were charging more than the RRP. They were both apparently available down under until February this year and the secondary market price has now skyrocketed.

My brother still has a town hall he wants to sell prob $400NZ plus shipping, new in box. PM me with your email addy so I can pass it on to him if interested

I, likewise, am not on Facebook ... and I have no plans to join Facebook.

I've done a quick scan of all the usual suspects (Best NZ LEGO, Sego, His Kids Bricks, Toy Co, Toyworld, pricespy). Only sego seem to have them in stock but they are pretty expensive. You may do better on TradeMe, if you can convince someone there to ship to Oz. I can see one new Grand Emporium on there at the moment with a buy now price of NZ$525 - I don't know how that compares to your secondary market.

That's a bargain! I'd give him $410 ;)

Well, now that our dollar has dropped large amounts, does anyone have any insight on what's going to happen to Lego prices for us in NZ? Either for new sets, or existing ones that already have a set RRP?

So far prices seem to be tracking where we're used to from what I can see (the new Ideas sets seem to have jumped up in price, but I note that's also the case for the Americans as well).

Toy World are having another round of discount coupons starting today till end of the weekend (same as the one they had a few months ago)

Just figured some of you would like to know that a Legoland theme park is opening in Melbourne next year. Just a 3 hour flight away. ;)

http://www.kidspot.com.au/lego-theme-park-is-coming-to-australia

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is set to open in Chadstone Shopping Centre in mid-2017, according to the mall’s owners. It will cover a massive 2800 square metres, equal to about 30 average-sized homes, and will include interactive rides, play areas, a small 4D cinema and ‘Miniland’, which will include models of prominent buildings and landmarks of Melbourne.

Dunedin Toyworld received their shipment of "Limited Distribution" items over the weekend. Special orders from management not to put them out till Monday so they were excluded from the coupon promotion.

Picked up Ideas Wall-E (21303) and have Birds on hold.

Drooled over some of the stupid large and expensive items that I'll never own.

They also had the Scooby Doo Mystery Van set for $70.

Very tempted, but having spending over $250 so far on Lego in 3 days, I am not out for a few more months.

Does anyone know if the Ferrari F40 is coming to New Zealand. I'd like to import it from the Lego store but hate the idea of paying extra postage and can't justify spending $400 to get free postage only to then be hit by customs charges (of $120)

Toyworld in Wellington also has the blue crawler crane (42042 - $220), Ideas Big Bang Theory ($110). These are also available online. I was told that they could not put them out during the weekend, because the product codes were not set up in the computer. They also had the full line up of Star Wars Ultrabuild (Bionicle-style) figures. I was a bit disappointed in the pricing, those start from $35, $45 for Obi and $60 for Darth and Grievous. I was planning the buy them all, I've also got the complete set of Super Heroes similar styled figures. I'll try to wait for a sale though. I was advised not to wait for a sale for Weall-e - out of 12 they've already sold 4... So it is not going to last long.
