that is abit pricey werent they only about $170 when they had then at shop at home?

Yup. I bought mine for $170 plus postage of course from Shop@Home. I hope it will sell for a good good price because that will help me set a value on mine. I still haven't had the chance to build it and line it up next to the GG. If that person gets $300 for it then I might sell mine too to fund Tantive IV or the Fire Brigade. Somehow Market Street don't seem to be in the same class as GG, CC and FB to me and I can live without it.

Yeah the colours are somewhat ugly. CC is still selling for 150 on lego.com... thats so wrong!

I would expect the marketstreet to go for 220ish tops though

Theres a few on BL for $150 USD ($215 NZD) but postage will add another $40 USD or thereabouts on top.

Beautiful set though.. But leave out the 'garagey markety ' part when displaying next to CC,GG etc.. it looks a whole heap tider.

And the NZ price for Cafe Corner is one of the best prices anywhere!! Theres a few on TM for $170 as well.

What hacks me off is all of the sets are 150$ USD including the firestation (and Tantive IV for that matter)

So why do we get prices from 150$ to 350$ for the same sets.

That has always been a complaint for fans from different countries but in Australia and NZ part of the reason might be GST.

Also despite the ridiculous difference ... us Kiwis (or should that be suckers) are still buying them so that's sending a message that the price is fine.

We're a smaller market and no competitions etc etc. I think the biggest reason might be the fact that we're still buying them at those prices.

sometimes if you do the currency conversion for a set you could buy it off bricklink for a lot less. For example, the Tanvtive IV is $150 US and if you convert that to NZ its $218 NZ. If you got a good deal for shipping than you could save a fair bit on it

The only problem with that is that when you want to keep the box, it'll be a US version of the set, which has piece counts and extra warnings. It sounds a bit pedantic, but when there's the option I prefer to have sets with consistent box art for display purposes. :sceptic:

Re: the Yoda pen TM listing, get them from Moore Wilsons for $11.

I find the people who clutter up TM foolishly trying to clip the ticket on brand new LEGO (and other stuff) without actually adding any value or even buying the set extremely annoying. :hmpf_bad:

huh I didnt know that they were different. I thought they would just all be the same because the boxes over here have different languages under the english

Hey! It makes a difference on my BIONICLE canisters when one of them has inconsistent extra writing obscuring the pretty box art! :cry_sad:

@ Rocanator - The US and Canadian boxes have extra warnings and information to comply with some of the selling laws there, whereas the international version (that we get) has a lot less clutter. It's really interesting to compare, as I've got a double of the same set, but one as a US version, and one not. I might post pictures, but it's a BIONICLE set. :look:

Here's an example of the difference for the Clone Walker BP:

I didn't know about this until I picked up a 6212 X-Wing while in Hawaii and found that it had some extra box graphics compared to the version in NZ.

Wow its got a bit more writing on it. I do like how they have the piece count on it though thats a plus but the rest of the writing just makes it seem cluttered

For those in Auckland, Toyworld Onehunga is having a birthday sale with 20% off all toys. I picked up the Medieval Market Village for $160.

The V19 Torrent is on sale for $75 too. There's some technic sets on sale too but I didn't get to have a good look since I was in a hurry. Might try to go back tomorrow or something to see what else is on special.

Posted
if anyone sees the V19 in Wellington at that price ($75) I'd like to know...

Do you know if it's a special or an end of line price reduction?

Don't know why its on special but they got heaps of them so must be trying to reduce them or else its linked to their birthday sale. It can easily be end of line price reduction because it seem like everywhere I go you can count on finding a number of V19 on the shelves. Don't seem to be all that popular but its actually quite a nice set ... with some innovative features.

I might be going back later today so if you're keen I can pick one up for you. Just means you have to pay $75 plus postage.

I'm guessing End of line. It's been around for about a year now.

I went to the new marshlands toyworld yesterday.... to find no 20% off :cry_sad:

They had MMV for $220. Ouch! I went there to buy a NXT, thinking $400, but it was $500 because of the no 20% off. That was a bit dissapointing...

Oh well, patience, i'm hoping to find one cheaper than $400 anyway.

Hey guys

I went to my local toy-world. Found that they had no specials and put MMV up to 200. I looked at a couple of the one at the back and found some $180 ones

I also found it kinda weird they had 2 death stars.
