<RANT MODE ON>

My God - There are some unbelievable optimists on TradeMe when it comes to LEGO!!!! Just check out trademe lister "Sassea" and the price they are expecting for viking kits that have been divided into separate elements!!! Not to mention the "castle seige". I could buy the viking kits complete and new off bricklink for the price they want for the Ofnir dragon alone!!!!!

Don't these people do ANY market research before listing????????? And then they no doubt wonder why no-one bids on their auctions.....

Sheesh

wondering looking over your lego auctions if you would consider offering market value rather than trying to bleed us dry? - me

There's really no need to be rude. My young son put these up after consulting with the local toy shop. These ARE made up. I did suggest he may have to drop the price but he's trying to raise money for his big brothers uni education. Some people try to improve their lot. Rather than go straight for the jugular, you should see if there are mitigating factors first. A pleasant attitude gets you a lot further in general. Thank you.

Sassea,

Thank you for your response and explanation.

Firstly, I wasn't trying to be rude, I was expressing disbelief, although I'll accept that the word "rant" was perhaps a bit imflammatory. I do, however, apologise for any offense caused.

Secondly, regarding market value, you have hit the point I was making. Your son wanted a combined total well in excess of $200nz for the separate parts of a kit (+ some extras) that another trader sold complete in its box for $40nz!! The "castle siege" auction was asking for $280 (although I see you've recently dropped the price), which was also well in excess of what the core set (LEGO 6090) of that auction can be purchased for on Bricklink, even taking currency differences into account, and certainly well above what other 2nd hand castles on Trade Me sell for. That level of pricing suggests that either a) the seller hasn't done their research properly (and I would suggest that the local toy store has a vested interest in not having cheap LEGO pricing), or b) they are incredibly optimistic.

I applaud your sons ideals, but ultimately, "market value" for 2nd hand LEGO, is what people are prepared to pay for it, and if he is going to price his goods that far above what other traders are selling at, then he will find that he just won't sell. And when it comes down to it, I am looking to get the best deal I can get, just as your son is.

Finally, I wish you and your sons well in your future endevours.

All the best

Nikkiwi

Collectible minifigures seem to be popping up around the world now... any word when they'll be in NZ, and where they'll be? I assume Toyworld will have them if anywhere, but I'm not so sure about other retailers. Maybe Whitcoulls, though my source there (who may or may not be me) informs me (myself?) that they're not listed on the system yet. Neither are the PoP sets for some reason, which is annoying because he (I?) really wanted a staff discount on them.

From my info they'll be showing up in Toyworlds around June, plus possably other store, but no info on that yet.

Yeah I think someone in here stated that but I was just wondering if June was still the release date. Oh well more time to save up

It's the 'official' release date for NZ. But It is always possible they'll show up sooner.

I ordered several boxes in January (Collectible minifigures)

Due date for release was June and September.

This is a confirmation that Toyworld WILL be getting them in.

Also of note, coming in are advent calendars, the Christmas Toyshop and several other goodies that I wont be saying more of :)

BTW, Legoman, Welcome back! :) were you able to source the couple of things I was after?

Cheers!

Argh, Oh no! I'm Sooo sorry! I got confused. Were you the one that wanted the Collectable figs pack and the fairly? Agrh. I got totally mixed up. I remember someone asked for those, but couldn't find it anywhere, but I got a PM from Nikkiwi asking for a collectable figs pack so I assumed It must have been him and he just didn't want the fairy anymore, I didn't realize there were two of you :sceptic: . When I did my final post a couple of weeks ago I Asked what people wanted, Hoping to get a full roundup, and Only Nikkiwi wanted anything, so Thats all I got. I'm So sorry! So I'm afraid I didn't get those

I have lots of them as well XD

You're happy about that? Argh I have no idea what to do with them all! You can see from the pics, there are a fair few :sceptic:

Posted
haha that a fair few pretty useless pieces you got there. Why did you buy them?

Of corse I didn't PURPOSELY buy them... I got them in grab bags :sceptic:

Posted
Heh, so were they cheap?

Yup :classic: - Very. But they had other pieces aswell. All mixed in. Those are just the ones I don't want, after sorting

Hey Legoman, maybe you could try melting them down and casting them into some other parts, just make a silicon mold and then pour the melted plastic into it. :sweet::laugh: Would be alot of trouble but in the end, worth it.

Dug This out of my favorites. :sweet:

Hope that helps you.
