Hello NZ'ers.. Does anyone have any contacts in the USA? Im really wanting to get a Grievous UCS set, and notice that its at a ridiculous price of $USD29 at the moment, but has a sold out status in NZ. I can get it from Bricklink for 43USD, and theres a few on trademe but thought Id ask here first. Any help would be appreciated:)

Um, Yes, but my contacts are private sellers and probably won't be quite nice enogh to give you one that cheap. It a crazily good price though... I paid the full $170 for mine :cry_sad:

However... I have a few sitting here i'm trying to clear out. I have 4 i want to get rid of ASAP, but i can't quite let them go at $30US a pop. At that price i would keep a few for parts!

How much are you open to paying? I MAY be able to help out...

I cant find any 10178 in my cataloge :sceptic:

I found in mine selected Lego for only $20 :classic: , but thats only city, power miners ect....no star wars :cry_sad:

I wonder when the Warehouse are going to do there BIG annuall Toy Sale and the chance to win a Trolley Toy Dash to get as many toys as you can in a minute which they do every year

I really hope I win it because that would cover me for the rest of the year with Lego

It's in there, you musta missed the Star Wars LEGO page.

As for sales, I'm really miffed that Kmart has only been doing 15% off recently as opposed to the 20-25% of last year. Especially seeing as the BIONICLE sets are now more expensive. :hmpf_bad:

Did anyone else enter the Toyworld LEGO comp at the Browns Bay Toyworld? I'm just interested to see if I've got competition...

I don't see it either? I don't have the catalogue mind you... I just saw the internet version... Prehaps they're different?

What else is on the SWL page?

Wierd - I just checked my physical version and there is an entire section of 15 or so pages that don't count towards the catalogue page numbers. Of those, there is a LEGO page with the Motorised AT-AT for $249.99, as well as some IJ sets, the Hyena Bomber and a Police Station. No sales or anything. I presume the entire middle section of the catalogue is missing in the online version. :sceptic:

well 3d-brickthing I entered at the Browns bay toyworld so I guess your my only competition

so it's just the online one that doesn't show the 10178 set, ok now I get it

Bricklink is safe, but Star Wars is expensive, very much so on Bricklink. It would be much cheaper to wait on TradeMe for someone to sell the set your looking for without knowing the ridiculous prices it could attain elsewhere.

Bricklink is great, but as mentioned before, it can be quite expensive. When I was hunting for the Motorised ATAT before it was released in NZ, I found a bricklink seller that had them without boxes and minifigs - they were dirt cheap (like around $30 USD), and I bought the ATAT driver and Veers separately as they were the only unique figs in that set. Even after postage, I got 3 of them for less than the price of 1 new one here in NZ. (And the exchange rate was awesome back then too:))

But yes, MISB can be pricy through BL, but occasionally there are some exceptions. TM is great too (I recently picked up a great used condition UCS Naboo and UCS Yoda for cheap as), but most of the time, its all about demand from other buyers.

Posted

i only used BL once and i will never again use it

i tired to purchase a MISB 10019 blockade runner, paid the seller for the item and shipping cost totaling about $800+nz

i asked for the seller to email me the tracking number so i know he has sent it, 3 weeks later with no reply, i contacted BL and all they did was put a warning against his account and told me to contact paypal

paypal took another 2 weeks to investigate the problem, then can only pay me back $200nz cause thats all the guy had in his paypal account!!!

ended up my credit card company refunded me all my money but man what a hassle it was trying to get my money back

As with Trademe, always check the seller's feedback ratings to see whether you can trust them or not. Also, if you're planning to purchase a large amount of bricks from them, it might pay to do a smaller "sample order" first to test their brick/shipping qualities.

Often with Star Wars sets, the only set is only expensive with the minifigs, so unless there are exclusive non-minifig parts, you are probably going to get a good deal on the parts for the set itself. Of course, TradeMe always is cheaper, if you're patient enough for the right auction to come along. :classic:

I bought parts and minifigures on Bricklink over the last 6 months. Mostly US sellers but 1 Dutch seller. My experience been great so far and I found the prices good. I stuck to sellers with a large number of positive feedbacks and I tend to ask them questions and use their responses (eg how quickly they get back, how detail they answer etc) to help decide whether they can be trusted.

Hope that helps and I hope I haven't jinxed my Bricklink experience with this post. =)

has anyone used an australian guy called "Maxspace"? i checked his feedback and it seems pretty good and because hes just across the ditch shipping wont cost that much.
