harmacy Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 By the time I went into the Megastore on Sunday afternoon, a lot of the shelves has been thoroughly emptied. I wasnt after anything in particular so wasnt that gutted. BTW, VMLN8R - If you are after a new Taj Mahal, I may be able to get you a very good price on one - PM me if you are interested:) Also, Im finding that Lego trains are really starting to take up a lot of my Lego time and budget - If anyone has any 9v stuff out there that they are willing to sell (tracks, engines, stock, buildings etc etc) I'd love to hear from you.
Legoman Posted May 26, 2010 Author Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) The Minifigs are now on S@H for $4, much more reasonable.Did anyone get anything special from the TW coupon sale? I was thinking of getting a couple of Technic sets and the Taj Mahal, but didn't end up with either. The Taj was sold out and I can wait for a better deal on the Technic sets. Also, I've received my S@H order, took a while due to PaB I think i must have missed somthing. Whats this 'coupon sale'? Edited May 26, 2010 by Legoman
harmacy Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I think i must have missed somthing. Whats this 'coupon sale'? Well...... The TW stores in the Wellington and Palmerston North regions (Except Coastlands) all had a coupon sale over the past weekend. Basically it was like one of those Mitre 10 style coupon sales eg - 20% of any item up to x$, 30% off any item up to x$ etc etc. Basically, they had too much stock and had to move it on. I went into the Megastore around Midday Sunday and it looked like Lego was a big seller for the sale.

David Thomsen Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I have nothing to buy until the modular buildings or the next range of trains are available, so I'm not too disappointed that I missed the sale... I'm really hoping that at least some of these things are in stock before the Queen's Birthday sale, but time seems to be running out.

Word on the street (ie - Local TW boss) is that the 2010 Trains line has been delayed a few weeks, so might not be hitting us until July / August. Apparently everything else is still on track to hit the shops in June - just not sure when in June though...

harmacy Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) The Fire Station modular set hit Toyworlds today, as did the Toy Story 3 sets (Train, dump truck, rubbish truck). The Fire Station is quite lovely, but Im still not convinced it fits in with the style of CC, GG, MS and GE.... No word on the Imperial Flagship or Grand Emporium, but they shouldn't be too far away:) Also - anyone know who picked up that MISB 12v Train off Trade Me? $1505 for a lego set is pretty good for the seller! Legoman Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 do you know when we are due to get the space police HQ and other 2 sets? Intresting you say that... I Have some info about the space-police sets from the Head of Lego France ( ) They Have not sold well. At all. They were never sure that they would, and so do not want to keep them widely availible to flood a market with sets consumers don't want. They have been released quite late many places around the world, and NZ seems to be one of these places. They should be coming out soonish, but I have no idea of an exact date, but I would say They'll be an exclusive to either toyworld or farmers The Fire Station modular set hit Toyworlds today, as did the Toy Story 3 sets (Train, dump truck, rubbish truck). Intresting that you say that about the Fire station - I've thought the same thing, but never been able to word it right. I completely agree. But, that said, I only own the GE so can't really say much... but thats an incredible set!
CommanderFox Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 On the topic of the modular buildings, anyone seen This?. Pretty big collection! CommanderFox

The Fire Station is quite lovely, but Im still not convinced it fits in with the style of CC, GG, MS and GE.... I was thinking of not getting the Fire Station, just because it really doesn't fit in with my CC and my GG. In the end I decided that I would only get it if I could have a 20% discount for Queen's birthday, but they told me it might have sold out by then... and then they gave me the 20% discount in advance because I'm such a loyal customer. Awesome. And that's why you should go into Toyworld every week and ask when the next new Lego sets are in. It's a great set though, so I don't mind that my modular city is architecturally inconsistent.

Me too - I 'hum-ed and ha-ed' about it for a while, and thought that a few modifications could make it fit in better, so put it on layby. I dont want to miss out and then face paying megabucks (a-la CC or MS) if I changed my fickle mind in the future... Pretty good about the discount you got too! - Bravo! Was that through Megastore?? David Thomsen Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 (edited) Pretty good about the discount you got too! - Bravo! Was that through Megastore?? It was the one in Wellington... I wasn't going to mention it on the forum at first because I didn't want them to be inundated with people saying 'I hear you're giving away 20% discounts on $299.99 toys a week early, can I get a discount too?' The situation isn't that I'd wandered in off the street and just asked for the discount... part of the reason I got the discount was that I'd pre-ordered the set months ago and for me not to get the discount would be 'unfair'. And I'd shown up at least once a week since then, usually with some question or another. Plus I'd been shopping there for years anyway. The only way to repeat my success is to have started a prolonged campaign a very long time ago... Edited May 29, 2010 by David Thomsen

Nikkiwi Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 A question for any regular Bricklink users out there.... How long do you consider reasonable to wait for a bricklink order to be processed and shipped after payment? Cheers Nikkiwi
harmacy Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Was in at Moore Wilsons Tory St today and the Imperial Flagship and Grand Emporium were both in. Good news is, they were priced at $252 each! Thats a pretty good price considering Lego.com is $299 each. And to answer Nikkiwi re - BL timeframes, I usually receive my orders around 1 week after payment, but sometimes up to 2, depending where in the world the order is coming from. Out of all 30 odd of my orders I've done, I've never had any that were more than 2 weeks away. In the later cases, the seller has usually kept me informed too. How long has it been since you paid?

I placed the order with a NZ based store on the 21st, was invoiced on the 23rd, paid the 24th (Mon Last) and BL message sent notifying same day. I contacted the seller by his alternative email over this weekend, but as of 3pm NZ today (one week since payment) I have had no reply from either message (BL shows that the 1st message hasn't been read), and the order still shows as processing. There was nothing on the splash page to indicate that there would be any delay in responding. And there was certainly little delay in sending out the invoice (is that something that can be automated from the sellers side???). Nikkiwi

AllanSmith Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 bit slack i just put order through with seller "gelo" hopefully my one order won't take that longGelo is a great Bricklnk store. Have completed two $80 orders in last few weeks and currently have a $50 order being processed. Highly recommend Helen and her Bricklink store.
harmacy Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Gelo is a great Bricklnk store. Have completed two $80 orders in last few weeks and currently have a $50 order being processed. Highly recommend Helen and her Bricklink store. I second that recommendation for Gelo. Helen is a great seller and very quick and efficient. I also just finished building my GE that I got today. I do love it very much, it looks awesome with the other modular sets.
Nikkiwi Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 As these things happen, The seller has been in touch and my order will be shipped tomorrow....:) And I'll second (or third or fourth or whatever...) Gelo/Helen - great to deal with Nikkiwi

Thats a pretty good price considering Lego.com is $299 each. They also have the Lego Truck (didn't catch the price, was too excited to be getting GE to pay much attention) and the Minifigures at $4.50 each. Still more expensive than S@H, but cheaper than Toyworld will have them. I got two... don't know what they are yet because I'm going to let my girlfriend pick one for herself and we can open them together. I know they're different because of the barcodes on the back.
Nikkiwi Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I got my first collectible minifig today from Toyworld Browns Bay - $5. Was "fortunate" enough to get the forest man fig.... Nikkiwi
RileyC Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Great to see that the Collectable minifigs are popping up around the place. I really need to check around to find me some! So are these a toy world exclusive?
k_r_brown Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 are the figures random or can you feel who is who to an degree?
