David Thomsen Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 (edited) Great to see that the Collectable minifigs are popping up around the place. I really need to check around to find me some! So are these a toy world exclusive? I got mine at Moore Wilson's in Wellington. They turned out to be a spaceman and a crash test dummy. I'm not really satisfied with the quality of the plastic for $4.50, so I don't think I'll be getting any more. k_r_brown: There's a barcode on the back that tells you which is inside the package, if you have some kind of barcode reader. I tried to feel-guess my bags after I got them but was completely wrong both times. Despite my reservations about the quality, I do think it's worth getting a couple of random ones just for fun. Nikkiwi Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I had a rough idea what the barcode I needed was (I had the cheat sheet all printed off, but foolishly left it at home). I had studied the barcode for the figure I wanted enough that once I found a pack that looked close enough, I was able to feel through and felt something that felt like a bow. Even so, it was still a gamble, and I did enjoy that little frisson of "what is it going to be?" that I'd have not had if I had used the cheat sheet. I'll probably get a few more. Nikkiwi
David Thomsen Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 (edited) S@H New Zealand has updated with lots and lots of stuff, so I can see the prices of things I want. Cargo train... $399.99. Might have to wait for another sale to get this one. Train station... $99.99. I think I'll stick with my old yellow one from 2007, it looks better anyway. Level crossing... $39.99. My city really does need a good level crossing, so I'll be getting this one. Doesn't include the Family House or the City Public Transport, though... It also has World Racers and Kingdoms and some other things that I also can't afford to also be interested in. Edited June 2, 2010 by David Thomsen
Callum Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Toyworld are having 20% off lego this weekend. (at least the local one is, I assume all are) I just grabbed a hand full of minifigure collector packs (staff discount is fantastic) I got a zombie (Note, I am after MORE ZOMBIES... so if anyone gets one I will trade any collector figure for a zombie :) an Indian Crash Test Dummy Ninja (PhwwaaaaaR!) SpaceMan Magician Quality. Hmmmm.. Quite obviously NOT standard high quality, these are a bit softer/lighter, but they do appear better than the magnets. Also in the news, We have a big stash of new sets out the back, including the new Atlantis stuff! VERY cool...
evil_elmo Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 20% would be nice anyone seen Grand emporium or fire brigade in chch?

AoNZ Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 How much will these Collectible Mini-figures be with the 20% sale? I think I may get some depending on the price. What would be a good price for them?
Legoman Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) 20% would be niceanyone seen Grand emporium or fire brigade in chch? A mate went to toyworld TJ yesterday and said they only have the Yellow Lego truck and the figs in the way of new stuff down there. I'm going down there later today too so will let you know any updates. I plan to get a couple of Zombies, mabye a caveman, and a heap of Green 32x32 Baseplates (has anyone here got any they don't want?) Well, I just got home, after Rigging the 'random' figs, getting my 2 Zombies and a Caveman. They had no Lego trucks left, and no green baseplates. Ah well. No Modular buildings either Edited June 5, 2010 by Legoman
Brickthing Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 For those near Browns Bay, North Shore, the Toyworld there has the Fire Brigade ($300), all new Atlantis, PoP and Toy Story 3 sets. I was there to get myself some minifigs, and I found all the ones I was looking for.
Fumoffu Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 The Manukau branch of Toyworld has the Lego Truck, all the new TS3, Pop, Fire Station, Grand Emporium and Imperial Flagship along with the minifigures for $5.99 each.

Dragonator Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 ... along with the minifigures for $5.99 each. Unfortunately the pricing is the same in all the Wellington stores, so I understand.

I'd complain to them (aka, suggest that you'd go buy 20 of them at another Toy World), because I got my minifigs for $3.99, which was 20% off the $4.99 RRP.

AllanSmith Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 In Blenheim, The Warehouse has 20% off LEGO this weekend and Farmers has 20% off all toys. I picked up the yellow truck 3221 at Farmers yesterday.
David Thomsen Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) $5.99? That's ludicrous. I understand $3.99 because even though they're cheap plastic, a lot of time and effort has obviously gone into their designs and new moulds, which requires monetary compensation. It's like the way greeting cards cost over five dollars, not because they're expensive to produce, but because people need to be paid for the design, administration, production and distribution and retail of these cheap bits of cardboard. But 150% of RRP... no. I wonder if they aren't selling them so expensively so they will eventually be in a position to have a promotion to give them away free with any purchase over a certain amount of dollars, and not lose anything from this. RileyC Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Dam still trying to find the collectable minifigs, I cant find them anywhere in Hamilton . It would have been really great to get them discounted . I asked one of the staff but they didnt even know what I was talking about. The toyworld staff there really annoys me.

Their Minifig stocks are decreasing at a rapid rate however (whistles innocently) Those on the North side better hurry..... Nikkiwi

AoNZ Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Finally got some Minifigs in New Plymouth. Me: Could I please take a look at those Store Lady: Sure *Goes through the minifigs to check the barcodes* Another Customer: Those are cool Store Lady: Yep and they are only $3.99 today Customer: OK, I'll take 4 Me: (Darnit, those were the ones I hadn't checked yet as the Store Lady takes a handful of them) Customer: Are they all different? Store Lady: Yes but you CAN'T identify them in any way Me: (I believe she was hinting towards me as I kept checking the backs) Anyway I managed to get 2 Robots :) Beforehand though when I didn't know about the barcodes I bought 5 and it was a good get: 1 Robot 1 Forestman 1 Zombie 1 Skater 1 Caveman Not bad eh?
Legoman Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 Heya guys. Just wondering, does anyone here have any Greenery they'd consider selling or trading?
AoNZ Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 OK, Went to my local store today to find myself a wrestler. My mum was getting one for our cousins Birthday so I decided I could find one I wanted to swap with my Diver that I didn't want :P I was there for a while and swear I went through the whole box twice and couldn't find one that looked like a wrestler. I started to panic so went to the car checked the sheet and went back in. I started to doubt the barcodes and my memory and grabbed one that l thought was close enough. Guess what... Now I have a Diver, again Two divers = Bad luck
Logbo Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 picked up the Grand Emporium and fire Brigade from TW Shirley the one at homebase? in chch?
