harmacy Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 I would have thought you would be over hoth by now? Ha ha - yeah - being a bit sarcastic there, but honestly, theres some very cool stuff coming out. When I did my Hoth base, The Snowtroopers were something silly like $15 NZD each... And yes - Kapiti TW is a great place for Lego! One of the better selections around, and the staff love their Lego, and will talk your ears off for hours about it.
Legoman Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 Anyone got a spare $12k ??? Link Ouch Thats a lot of $$$... I personally wouldn't get that even if I had the money - A) I think it's a bit overpriced at $12000, and B) part of the fun of collecting lego is collecting it over time. Getting a collection like that would be a big hit Nice collection though
Legoman Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 Just went to Toyworld tower junction They had all the new SW sets (ALL of them exept the UCS) and most of the new trains. My biggest surprise was that Bane's speeder was only $60 Bargain compared to all the other sets

Do you remember the other prices for the new sets?
Legoman Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 Wow thats a bargain I thought it was going to be really overpriced. Do you remember the other prices for the new sets? Yeah most of them. 8093 = $50 8128 = $60 8099 = $90 8089 = $100 8095 = $130 8096 = $150 8097 = $200 8129 = $230 8098 = $300 Wow, looking over, Thats a lot of sets for a summer wave.. Glad I don't want all of them then
AoNZ Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 That's great news, thanks Legoman Does anyone know of any sales coming up for Toy World or will I have to get the sets I want now (Bane's Speeder) while I hope they are in stock?

There is currently no reason to beleive it's an exclusive, so I'd wait. But that said, I almost never pay full price, others differ. I don't know of any sales soon, but there'll be one soon enough. Even as a CW set, at 20% off I couldn't pass it up, I'd use it as a Air taxi. It would be down to $48 - Crazy bargain IMO Also looking forward to the other sets, once on sale
RileyC Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Thanks Legoman! Most of the prices are pretty reasonable and for most of them I would be happy to pay full price, but I wont because money is tight for this wave because it's fairly large. The CTT at $300!? Thats so overpriced! I was looking forward to getting Aayla but now Im not so sure. At least Bane is in another set which is a bonus. Im really looking forward to picking up the AT AT and Slave 1 especially because I haven't got the previous ones and they imo, are pretty good remakes. So which sets is everyone intending to pick up?

I must admit, seeing the AT-AT in the flesh, it didn't look nearly as bad as first pictures suggested. I'm not sure wether they just managed to get a lucky nice shot for the box art or wether its simply better than I had thought. I'm planning on getting: Wampa cave (must get one, even if I end up having to pay RRP - doubt it'll come to that though ) Palpitines shuttle (nice set - could look great with a few MOD's - would like to get it well on sale if possible though) Banes Speeder (Bargian price, will make a nice air-taxi seeing as I'm anti-CW, but on sale I just wouldn't pass this one up) Slave 1 (I hate the fact that they re-made it (the last one was great) - but it's such a nice set, and it looks lovely and has amazing figs. Will probably, hopefully, get it - on sale) CTT- Will probably pass. The sets nice, but the original is fine, and being CW, It's not a big deal wether I have it or not. AT-AT- Once again, will probably pass, others are fine (well, better) and I simply don't need this one. Plo Koons fighter - Probably will pass, but If I see it desperately cheap - which I wouldn't be too surprised of, I may get it just because I'm lacking a Plo Koon fig from my collection (It passes the PT/CW test for me ) GG's fighter - No piticular hate for the set, I just have no want, let alone need for it. Definately NOT the Imp. Star destroyer though
RileyC Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Yeah I think if you collect Star Wars the Wampa Cave is a must get. I did pick up it and Plo's Starfighter recently and I am pleased with both. However the Wampa is a lot smaller than I thought but he is still really nice. Plo's is good but I only got it to complete the starfighter range-thing and for him. I added up the prices of sets I wanted to get and it wasnt too bad. Even better with 20% taken of all of them though
Fumoffu Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 The new Star Wars set are on Shop@Home now. Bane's Speeder is listed as $100 so that Toyworld price may be a mistake. I'm going to check out my local Toyworld and if it is available at that price then I think I'll grab it just in case they put the price up to RRP.

The new city transport set is listed in S@H as $200 but was $180 at Tower junction also Plo Koons fighter is also listed as $55 but is only $50 it Toyworld. Mabye toyworld heard some things from customers about their price jack-ups, and decided to try get more customers... Everything else is RRP, not over. Good on toyworld

Good on toyworld Just got the Toyworld flyer in my mailbox and it looks like Bane's Speeder is $60 and if the flyer is right then this set is exclusive to Toyworld. I think I'll grab one while it is at that price. It might just be a launch special or something. I think they got the pricing on the Fire Brigade wrong a while back too in their catalogue and then put the price back to RRP once the flyer's period expired.
AoNZ Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Woah! $100 is not what I was expecting. May have to pick it up now because I don't want to risk a boost in $40.
RileyC Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Wow $100 is a lot. Im gonna go in and see if they have it at my local toyworld because $100 is way too expensive, its the kinda price I thought it would be originally.
David Thomsen Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 (edited) The new city transport set is listed in S@H as $200 but was $180 at Tower junction also I find this interesting, since it's exclusive to Toyworld. Why would they discount an exclusive? Maybe they just don't see that much interest in a $200 box with a tram and a bus and a couple of tram/bus shelters... Edited August 7, 2010 by David Thomsen
Fumoffu Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I find this interesting, since it's exclusive to Toyworld. Why would they discount an exclusive? Maybe they just don't see that much interest in a $200 box with a tram and a bus and a couple of tram/bus shelters... Maybe it has something to do with the fact that its an expensive set and there's not as much of 2010 left to be selling a 2010 set? We need someone who works at Toyworld to shed some light on this ... also whether the $60 on Bane's Speeder is a special or that is the normal price at Toyworld. I don't think I'll risk it so I'll head down to my local Toyworld tomorrow to grab one.
Chaucey Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm from Lower Hutt and I'm buying Lego for myself and for my 3 1/2 year old boy. I'm pretty new to Lego. I'm not really into the star wars lego but I've been enjoying the creator houses and some other smaller sets. I'd love to hear more about the Kapiti Lego Show - we'd come along for sure!
RileyC Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Welcome to EB Chaucey! Hope you have a great time surfing the boards and find our special thread extra useful.

AllanSmith Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 (edited) The Warehouse in Blenheim has just put out 4 new boxes of series 1 minifigs. I managed to find 10 zombies (I have memorised the bar code ) Brings my zombie army to 34 from various sources Thought I'd introduce myself. Welcome to Eurobricks. Lots of info on this site.I started collecting LEGO when I lived in Stokes Valley (Lower Hutt suburb) 25 years ago (Initially for my 2 1/2 year old daughter). I collect mainly Town (City) and Train. Its very addictive (1000+ sets later). Currently most is in storage in Napier while I am living in Blenheim. Edited August 8, 2010 by AllanSmith
