I currently happen to be working on a minifig scale type UBIII U-boat. Although this is a World War I design, it was the basis for the famous type VII of World War 2. My model is currently built down to only the waterline because I currently only need it for a picture prop. I will eventually build the rest of the hull and interior. There is a folder HERE on Flickr with details on how it was constructed.

Thanks and thanks!

I'm already involved in a lot of online communities but I hope to find time to participate here too.

Wasn't there a film about U-Boats?? I can't remember what it was called... Something about the Brit troops nicking a U-Boat and then getting into major havoc, but I think Hollywood glamorised it and made it American troops instead...

WHAT WAS IT CALLED??

It was called 'U-571'. It was partially based on a real event in which the Royal Navy captured U-110 including the ship's Enigma machine (a machine used to encode messages) and secret codebooks. Hollywood is in the entertainment business rather than the business of making documentaries.

If you want a good movie about U-boats, I can recommend 'Das Boot'

Cheers,
