Bricks Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) No! I'm really sure that TLC will not produce new Avatar sets in 2010/2011. Well they can risk it, but they won't do that. And besides 2010 they get their new licensed theme: Disney! 'Bricks' Edited March 1, 2009 by Bricks Quote

Oky Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Thank you for the info, Legomilk, but what do you mean by "between"? I think he means that he has seen a list of ideas for sets/themes for 2010, but that Avatar was not among them. This is sad to hear, but the release of the movie is still 16 months away, so I think there is still hope that they will pick up the license until then. And even if they don't, they still might pick it up afterwards when the movies end up being popular. Quote

If they brought back the Disney license for the 2nd time, then there is hope for the future when they drop Disney again and return to Nickelodeon for the 2nd time. Both Avatar and SpongeBob are owned by Nickelodeon, a division of Viacom. I don't see a problem with LEGO revisiting licenses. Quote

Clone OPatra Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 You mean IF they become popular. The movie could bomb. Sorry for a little bit off topic, but a movie doing badly does not always determine LEGO's moves ahem*Speed Racer*ahem. I guess LEGO did release the Speed Racer sets before they saw the movie bombed, but I'm not sure why they made the sets in the first place. On topic: I think more Avatar sets would be awesome, I love anime looking characters! And they already designed some sort of, in the July-August 2006 Brickmaster issue Henrik S. Clausen, the lead designer for the Avatar theme, said that they were working on some new Avatar models so he couldn't answer the question about what Avatar-related something he would love to build. Oh, really? I hadn't heard that. That's awesome! I wonder what they were working on..... Does anybody know where I could get Henrik S. Clausen's address, so I could send him a large quantity of unmarked bills in assorted denominations, I mean, uh, a letter, telling him how awesome it would be to be able to know what type of sets they were designing? Speed Racer is not a good example here since, as you say, they did release the sets before the movie came out. I am talking about the possibility of Avatar sets being released after the movie comes out. To answer your question: Seeing how well their own Racers line went, TLG thought that a Speed Racer licensed theme would do well, no matter how bad the movie turns out. And I think they were only half-wrong with that. I think the smaller sets sold relatively well. And they already designed some sort of, in the July-August 2006 Brickmaster issue Henrik S. That was over two years ago, though. I don't think that the Avatar movie was even official by then. It could have just been a planned second wave that never ended up being released. Just being realistic. Edited March 3, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote

I know that it was just for a second wave, and I'm pretty sure there won't be any sets from the movie, but I just wanted to share that bit of information. I didn't mean to imply that I thought they would release some probably preliminary designed sets because the movie was coming out. Quote

That could have been such a great set if they put a bit more thought into it. Quote
hollisbrick Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I really hope there are some more Avatar sets in the future! Maybe some small cheap ones as well this time I think the movie will do well, I can't wait Quote
