January 15, 200817 yr Just a sub-forum, and your own website? What is this, then!!!??? Touche! Of course, CC is an independant state. Classic-Pirates' affiliation with Eurobricks would make it more like a colony :-D (I kid of course). Edited January 15, 200817 yr by blueandwhite
April 3, 200816 yr Castle all the way. First off, which line has been going on for more than twenty years(my math may be more or less)? Castle. (note: This doesen't mean I'm a KK fan; all Castle was cool to me, especially the Fright Knights, which I remember before anything) I can ask a lot more questions, but I can also read the entire topic. In the interest of this forum I will do neither and vote Castle. I still love Pirates, and I'm mad I missed the firing cannons. >:-(
April 4, 200816 yr Argh, me two favorites dueling it out, I always thought the two lived harmoniously together on the shelves and in catalogs, But now i agree castle has sold out CLASSIC castle as been abused by having trolls and LOTR style sets. NOW ELVES oh, save me, next we will have Zelda castles... Allow me to explain. Simply an old CLASSIC SET such as Black Dragon Castle had numerous nights and horses, the latest set that had a castle i have seen only has 1 horse, even the jousting tournament only had one house (with flesh!) if castle was as good as it used to be it may provide a challenge to pirates but until then... They can take there new 13" dragons and post em where the sun don't shine... i prefer the old one as it is more Lego like.

They can take there new 13" dragons and post em where the sun don't shine... i prefer the old one as it is more Lego like. Now now, it's not LOTR style; it's fantasy. If you didn't know what LOTR was but you were more attuned to WOW(not that I am) you'd say they are WOW type sets. ;-) These types of sets are sets of a kind. Different people see them differently. I, for one, like both Classic Castle and the new Castle. And I can honestly say I'm not that much of a fan of the new dragon. I personally prefer the Vikings dragons; much more articulation given from a ball joint that isn't limited by a swivel joint. ;-) By the old one, do you mean the five piece dragon from the Fright Knights? 8-| That dragon's no more Legoish then, quite frankly, the new trolls. I don't think you can argue with that. ;-) My definition of Legoish is how many bricks it takes to build. The new troll isn't very Legoish for me, nor is the new dragon(also takes very few bricks to build), but the Vikings dragons offer a challenging building experience. :-)
April 4, 200816 yr I know it's quite provocative to say this in a pirate forum but I voted for castle. I hope this won't stir up the pirate fans too much. ;-) My vote was influenced by all those brilliant castle sets that were available 15 and more years ago. But I am not a fan of the castle sets that have been released in the past few years. Still, pirates is a very great theme and I found it hard to decide. I would've preferred voting for "I like both" but it's not an option. To be very honest, my decision was also the victim of subjectivity. I own many more castle sets than pirate ones. April 5, 200816 yr I know it's quite provocative to say this in a pirate forum but I voted for castle. Quick sting him up from the rafters! ;-) nah i must admit if there was a both option i may have considered it over pirates, but i think that was the point, polarize the opinion... i loved those old castle sets, *thinks back to the days he dreamed of them*, hm as for the old dragon i mean this one so i thinkk it is the dragon flame one... i like it due to it being a kin to the croc and shark as well as other lego animals... oh btw i played wow for a good 6 months... i still think its more LOTR than WOW Edited April 5, 200816 yr by Cpt. May 16, 200816 yr I like both but I like Pirates better. The colonial era was an age of exploration and discovery and unfortunately genocide. Huge empires sailed the seas finding treasure for their monarch. Castle is the dark age between the Romans and the renaissance. Nothing really happened, it was stagnant. I really like castles and boats but Pirates can have both better than Castle can. Besides, I'm a sucker for tri-corn hats.
May 20, 200816 yr Pirates and Castle theme are really one of the best themes around. Since this is a poll, and you are forcing me to choose. I will have to choose for Castle. All this time, my collection of Castle is growing. And I am fond of Medival, Fantasy era. Crazy with Knights, Dragons, Wizards and etc. Yes, Pirates is cool too. But, Castle theme is the one whom makes me stay on with LEGO. so my vote goes to Castle
May 20, 200816 yr Castle, no argument from me. I've just always loved big castles than big pirate ships. If Pirates were re-released, and I had to choose whether to get that last Castle set or that cool pirate ship, I'd have to go castle. ~Peace
May 20, 200816 yr Classic Castle for me. Gotta love the old Pirates too though! One of the best themes ever.
August 3, 200816 yr I chose Pirates because I like the time period better. Pirates brought SO much into the Lego world, like mini-fig faces, new parts, and an exciting part of history. Pirates theme includes castle elements in its forts, but expands to golden age sailing ships...and I love tall ships! I love both themes but I made my decision long ago...It's a Pirates life for me! ARRR!
August 3, 200816 yr I chose Pirates, but it was Lego Castle and Space that got me hooked as a child. By the time Lego Pirates came out, I had amassed a large Black Falcon army. I remember using my small Imperial Soldier forces to recreate scenes from the movie Zulu with the Black Falcons as the under-developed civilization the IS were trying to defend themselves from. Good times... The castle sets from the last 10 years and Imperial Armada don't have the same affect with me. They don't seem to inspire large armies. Although the newer castle sets with the release for the battle packs look promising. Tony
August 5, 200816 yr I voted Castle!! Ina ny case, Castle and Pirates are my favorite LEGO series! I love them!
August 5, 200816 yr I voted Pirates, Although castle came close, I just love the freedom of the wide oceans! And the sunshine of the caribians. Kind regards, Teddy
August 26, 200816 yr HAHA. This is kind of a dumb post to put in a pirate forum. Of course pirates are better!
August 28, 200816 yr Pirates of course. But pirates & castle can live together in harmony. They're relatively similar anyways if you look at the big picture, only pirates have more/better ships, but both have fortifications, swords, pikes/halberds etc. (the late middle ages even had gunpowder, unfortunately lego didn't go that far). October 10, 200816 yr Me too. About the sets: both Pirates and Castle had sets that were not as good as others. Both didn't include stickers (although I don't know how it is with the bigger castle sets today and the new pirates coming in 2009).
October 10, 200816 yr Piratus est. Pirates all the way, although castle is a close second. Star Wars would be third, closely followed by trains and some licensed sets(Indy, Batdude,...). I prefer Pirates Lego because of there nice ships, their and the fact those imperial soldiers are so nice ! And they are suited for my Napoleonic Armies ! for pirates !
October 11, 200816 yr How could this be? Traitors! Pirates is only leading by twenty! All who voted castle should be caught and should be sent to walk the plank!
October 11, 200816 yr This thread is linked to the The Pirate LEGO DirectoryA "must visit" thread for anyone interesed in Pirate LEGO I know there's already a What's your favourite Lego poll, however since this section is called Castle and Pirates (although includes some discussions on other themes, but this poll is clearly suggested by the name alone), we shall see which one of those two lines is a master here, and which one's a slave. As the topic's founder I'll remain objective, but only till my next post :-D So if you were to choose between one of those two, what would it be? I really can't choose which is best : pirates have imperials and the ultra cool armada. Castle has dragon masters and the best lego minifigs ever made : wolfpack. So I am collecting both.
October 12, 200816 yr I had this reconciled when I was a kid, I loves pirates castle and town, so I would construct my fleet, my castle, and the town that was overlooked upon, then the war would begin Divided vote here
October 13, 200816 yr Ultra cool armada. W-w-w-what? Are you suggesting the armada is cooler than the imperials? Men! Shoot this man! Are you completley insane? The imperials have waaaaaay cooler ships than the armada flag ship. Well at least I think so.

The imperials have waaaaaay cooler ships than the armada flag ship. Well at least I think so. Its a matter of personel taste , I mean just look at the their helmets, can't get any cooler then that. + the fact they are VERY hard to come by! Just wish they had a set like sabre island. And I certainly don't dislike the imperials, I just like the armada more.

But when you compare the Eldorado Fortress with that dock rubbish with the green doors, there is a clear standout.I do agree though that the Armada deserved better models.
