Which is better: Castle or Pirates?

Actually change that to a dense wilderness. What do you consider a wilderness then?

I think you've misinterperated me Evil Willy! I meant I haven't been witin 1000km of the "outback" but my nearest wilderness area which is about 50Km is what's in the picture above.

My definition of a "wilderness area" is an natural area that has little impact or modification by humans. By impact or modification I refer to pollution and urbanisation. Areas that aren't effectived by technology and have been the way they are for thousands of years.

They must know its either Pirates or not to vote at all! However, as we are to learn there are some Pirate LEGO fanatics posting at Classic Castle that actually favour Pirates over Castle. Interesting, huh? My job is to extract the pirate from within and help them see the true favourite!

So are your saying you like pirate MOCs more because there are less of them, or because you like pirates more then castle?

It's both Dillon. Rarer mocs cause more originality and uniqueness and therefore generates more charm for me. Also me liking pirates is another huge deal. As far as I see, castle MOCs are on an increase and to tell the truth, they've started to look alike. Of course there are some super original castle MOCs now and then.

Dammit! This was bound to happen sooner or later. Hopefully the trend will not continue! At one stage Castle was beating Pirates 2:1 but the tide has turned a bit since then!

Oh...this is a very hard question...

I'm a big fan of this two series and I collected only them(and Wild West,of course,but this was for very short time)...

I feel sorry for Pirates'cause they don't make them anymore,and a more sorry for castles because they make them like these days...

I must said PIRATES...Maybe'cause of nostalgia...I just love them best...

And those KK2 put castles very low...

well, this topic is in the pirate forum now, not the castle forum... so the thread is now bias, and should not be taken as 100% accurate.

especially when you consider Phes' new pirate fan acquisition thread. the whole idea would bring pirate fans directly to this thread, but castle fans woud be left over at CC.

Well, if so much people like catsle more, why is pirates the most discussed?

i believe most castle talk goes on at CC, not EB. so it would appear pirates are more talked about, if this is the only forum you read.

Well, I had to chip in on this long dicussion, and vote PIRATES!

Castle has been a part of lego since time began, and I think it will be a part of Lego till the end. Pirates, however, had a shorter run, but produced quality sets. Also, it is the theme that got me involved in Lego in the first place, thank you BSB.

To me, Castle has shown how you can only do so much with a baseplate and grey bricks. The Pirate theme had so much diversity, that the possibilities were almost endless. With a baseplate, you are somewhat limited to your MOCing options, but the base lego pirate hull leaves almost limitless options for a MOC. Sure, the more eager MOCers will build castles without baseplates, but to me, they all look pretty much the same. Massive buildings made out of grey bricks. While these MOCs are still impressive, there is only so much style you can add to a castle, before it becomes KKII worthy. Pirate bases built without a baseplate are open to much more design liberities. A roudy bar, full of pirates and wenches, a governers mansion, ports, island forts, the list goes on and on. As well, colour options for the pirates line are more varied as well. Even the dreaded bley, scorn to many a castle builder, could find a use in a pirate MOC.

Also, what pirates introduced to the Lego lineup deservers mention as well. All the accessories, like firearms, monkies, sharks, etc, opened up a lot more options for lego. And where would the castle sets of the 90's be without the baseplate? IMHO, castle owes pirates for that one!

For all these reasons and more, Pirates is far superior to Castle.

Edit: Now pirates is only merely 7 votes away from tying, 8 away from victory!

Sorry guys, but Castle it is for me! I grew up in CC, and it still has a special place in my heart! Although the recent lines have really let the team down! My favourite were the original Royal Knights, although I have many a Black Falcon, Crusader and Forestman!

Although I do enjoy pirates too, I am not overly keen on the dominance of Western European ships, now if the Pirates line did Oriental or African piracy, I'd be right in there! X-D

I'm glad you liked it, Djole. Since I've had that avatar for a while now, I decided to change it to something else.

I like forestmen more then the samurai, so I may change it back sometime, or make a new one. :-)

It's the problem with my attitude that bugs me all these years...

Right now,at this moment,I find castle sets more beautiful,and I'm more interested to build in medieval theme... I can explain it well... That's how it is...

I think everyone dabbling from theme to theme all the time,they just don't admit it so often... ;-)
