I've created this thread so we can help each other determining the average price for each Pirate set (old and new)

This could be a useful thread in the future, if people help out with the knowledge they have from looking at eBay auctions

i.e. the Black Seas Barracuda - what is the average price for this set on American, British or German ebay?

- in MISB

- Complete, w. box and instructions

- Almost complete

It would be a great way to keep people from making bids that are way too high

I'll start:

Yesterday a 100% complete 6273 Rock Island Refuge sold for 56 euro - no box included

6273-1.1105158267.thumb2.jpg

Sunday, a 100% complete 6276 Eldorado Fortress sold for 34 UK Pounds - no box included

6276-1.1121307862.thumb2.jpg

So - are these prices about average?

Edited by Lorentzen

I'm not expert of eBay, but the second one seems cheap! I think these 2 sets would probably cost 60e if they were sold today in retail shops.

I paid $60 incl P&P for the rock island refuge *plus* Imperial flagship. Eldorado Fortress wasn't quite as good, nearly €50 incl. P&P (although postage to Ireland is high - about €7.50 in this case I think). I'd been waiting for even that price for a couple months though at the time I was watching on ebay for it.

No boxes - I've seldom got a boxed lot off ebay - it's a nice extra but I wouldn't pay more, and I think many people do - so the prices would put the lots outside my interest.

The one thing I would still like to get is Skull Eye Schooner - but this is always expensive (I did do well on Black Seas Barracuda - just €70 including P&P. If I remember correctly, it was a buy-it-now too, taking a lot of the hassle out of the picture).

Most of my ebaying was in 2007.

Im not an expert either but the Caribbean Clipper :pir-wub: usually goes for around $70 to $100 USD.

Rock island refuge is a bit on the high end of the price (I think you can get it for about 45 euro's), but the Eldorado fortress was pretty cheap for just 34 pounds, I got mine for 55 euro's, including shipping (but it was not in optimal condition).

I got my BSB for 70 euro's incl. shipping (not optimal condition either). SES for about a 100 euro's incl. shipping (with the exception of some yellowed white pieces and small stain on the sail it was nearly like new). RBR for under 40 euro's incl. shipping (weapons and 1 or 2 bricks missing, but it was like new). Lagoon lock-up for about 32,50 incl. shipping (pretty expensive and the condition was not great). My Sabre Islands I both got for about 17,50 each incl. shipping I think (1 in good condition, 1 like new). Not all the cheapest prices, but I'm happy with them. RBR for under 40 euro's was probably my best deal. All in the Netherlands.

I thought "Eldorado Fortress" was called Fort Sabre! Damnit, my Emperor has been living in the wrong house for 15 years :pir_bawling:

34£ seems good value for sure IMO

It was called Fort Sabre in some countries (UK among others), so your emperor has nothing to worry about :pir-wink:

Just like 6285 was called Black Seas Barracuda in some countries and Dark Shark in others, I think there was an entire topic devoted to this in the pirate forum.

Is 55 Euros a good price for a 100 % complete Eldorado Fortress including shipping fees, but without the box?

thanks

EDIT: Is 26 UK pounds a good price for an Eldorado Fortress, w. 3 rowing boats excluding the rare Admiral but with an extra red rowing boat with a little blue sail?

3 Eldorado Fortresses (6276) has been sold as BIN from Germany - 60 Euros for a complete set w. instructions and no box

1 (so far) Rock Island Refuge (6273) has been sold as BIN from Germany for 49 Euros for a complete set w. instructions and no box

looks like the average price for the Rock Island Refuge is around 50 Euros right now.

The Eldorado Fortress has an average price right now of around 40 UK pounds, I think

The BSB has totally different price tags, almost daily. But yesterday, a beautiful BSB w. instructions and box was sold for around 120 Euros

The day before, a complete and great condition BSB was sold for only 41 UK pounds...

Is 55 Euros a good price for a 100 % complete Eldorado Fortress including shipping fees, but without the box?

thanks

Yes it is a good price, I would buy it at such prizes. Even 60 euros for a complete Eldorado is a normal price.

Yesterday, a complete Rock Island Refuge with box and instructions, sold for only 36 UK pounds...

I was sleeping when the last bid fell. I already own the set, but I would have loved to have it with the box. Oh well, It'll pop up again at some point

That is the normal price too yes.

Still I would try to get it cheaper then that, which is possible. ALso watch our ebay ads.

Thought i would resurect this thread as my question fits in pretty nicely here.

I bought a BSB the other day complete with instructions for £60 ($90) which i thought was pretty good. Then yesterday i saw another complete BSB going for £30 with a day to go on the auction so not thinking too much i put a max bid of £35 pounds on it. Just logged onto ebay and i won the BSB for £33 ($50) !! So i now have 2 BSB, picked up for less than £100 ($150). Im assuming that they are both pretty good deals ? Im pretty new to buying lego on ebay. I thought the first one was fairly cheap but i couldnt believe i would get another one for half that !

I paid:

Eldorado Fortress without box - 45euro (32 + delivery)

Renegade Runner without box - 17euro (10 + delivery)

Cannon Cove without box - 13euro (10 + delivery)

Forbidden island without box - 35euro (28 + delivery)

Rock island refugee without box - 50euro (35 + delivery)

Enchanted island with box (like new condition) 75euro (60 + delivery)

Skull island without box - 50euro (45 + delivery)

12kg of pirate sets (BSB, CC, Eldorado, Sabre island, Forbidden island and many small sets nad minifigs - 270euro (225 + delivery)

All on German Ebay with delivery to Slovenia.

I have been following E-bay for over during purchasing of those sets and noticed that generally ships are way more expensive then land based sets.

It seems my case is the worst one..I paid:

Everything sealed new:

BSB 10040- 220EUR

Eldorado Fortress- 80EUR

Skull Island- 90EUR

Rock Island Refuge- 113EUR

Enchanted Island- 123EUR

Second hand- like new:

Caribbean Clipper- 90EUR

Imperial Trading Post- 100EUR

To be honest, i didnt really plan to get 2 BSB's so i reckon i will sell one. Im assuming i would get the best price on bricklink, how easy is it to sell items on there? Doesnt seem like the most user friendly website !

Or i'd be up for swapping one for another pirate set such as 6276 or 6277, though i doubt i will find anyone up for that !

I don't understand why we need a thread like this.....if people here don't have ebay accounts and hence can't look up completed listings for all these sets themselves, they aren't able to be buying the sets off ebay anyway.

This just seems a little funny for something that should be common sense.....my two cents of course. :pir-classic:

Anyway, if someone doesn't have an ebay account but was just curious, I bought the sets at these prices (used, complete, good condition, includes shipping, USD):

BSB - $100

SES - $150

RBR - $65 (got a great deal on this)

CC - $70

imperial trading post - $115

rock island refuge - $60

armada flagship - $35

I created the thread, so people can determine whether or not they are looking to get a good deal on an auction.

This could be an idea of how to use the information in this thread:

1: I find an auction of interest.

2: I go here, check out what other auctions like it has sold for in the past.

3: Based on this knowledge I decide what my maximum bid will be.

You got an Eldorado Fortress MISB for 80 euros?? And a Rock Island Refuge MISB for 113 euros???

What were the conditions of the boxes like?

Wow... you are one lucky guy!

My point is if you can buy stuff on ebay you obviously have an ebay account and can just use completed listings, which shows every auction that ended in the last 2 weeks. Seems a little more efficient then having people tell you a few random individual auctions here and there, huh? :pir-classic:

I disagree... :pir-classic: two weeks of completed auctions is not good a enough indication to what a true average price is (but you and I disagree, which is totally fine :pir-classic: )

Besides, what about those sets that aren't for sale very often? How can you find old auctions for those sets? If people remember to post sale prices for those sets in here, they will remain here, which is not the case with completed listings on ebay
