Starwars4J Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Am I the only one that is vomitting after hearing this news? No, you're not! I am glad to see lego gave a new definition to the "no more expensive licences" expression :-D I'm not the least bit glad! The first definition was brilliant and they should live by it religiously. We could get some good parts from these.Whatever you say about 4Plus Pirates, we did get the odd good part. And what are these imaginary parts? Chrome scimitars come to mind ;) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 8, 2005 Governor Posted November 8, 2005 Scimitars are Asian swords and shouldn't be in Caribbean pirate sets to begin with. *n* Quote
Starwars4J Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Scimitars are Asian swords and shouldn't be in Caribbean pirate sets to begin with. *n* Agreed, but it was a decent part... Quote
Nothing Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I knew from the start that the Avatar line would be system, but still, I am not so sure about SpongeBob. It just doesn't seem like it would fit in. I think it will be 4+ like DTE and BTB. :( Quote
Lost Viking Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I bring great news! I am almost positive that they'll be system read this quote from the press realease-The first two Nick properties coming to life in brick form are "SpongeBob SquarePants" and the newest network hit, "Avatar: The Last Airbender," both rated in the network's top 10 for boys ages 6-11, according to A.C. Nielsen. Both lines will be available in August 2006. As you see it says 6-11. The scale to system is... 6-11. Read this next quote- LEGO Avatar: The Last Airbender offers two hero models with collectible minifigures and role play action to recreate popular environs of the animated series. Planned marketing support includes TV, Web content, LEGO Club, model tour, co-promotions and retail feature. If they're both aimed at 6-11 year olds and also it confirms Avatar is minifig scale, I am sure SB will be to! Also, if Duplo got Dora the Explorer and Bob the Builder I think we need 2 of our own aswell :D This is my take on it ;) I said this before, this is why I am sure it is goinig to be system. Quote
Backpack3 Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Ok, Spongebob will definitely be minifig-scale.I was talking with some people who brought up the idea that it might be like Chewie, where they have a 'head' that changes the shape of the body (in this case, it fits over and makes it rectangular). That would allow Spongebob to be a fig. I personally like this. As it will be fig-scale, I think we can expect a lot more of a very cool piece; the trans-green seaweed pieces introduced in Rescue From The Merpeople. The more and more I think about it, the more and more I look forward to it. This sounds Uber-cool...thanks for the news BJ..... UBER..... Quote

WesternOutlaw Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Sponge Bob: a perfect theme for 'lots of rubber pieces and 4+ elements. The cost savings to make will balance the licensing fees. Bring back the classics that didn't need licenses! I hate to say this, but lego is turning in to Mega Blocks with decisions like this. Quote
Dark1 Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 does anyone have pics of at least one set if so post them plz ;) :') Quote

Zarkan Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Well, I can tell you one thing. I'm not going to be getting any spongebob kits anytime soon. Not that I have anything against TLC, I just don't like the show at all. If they have a lot of cool pieces, I'll probably get them seperate on Bricklink. And, not saying that this line won't do well, younger kids will No Doubt love this line. This goes for Avatar too, I just don't like cartoons that much. Well, except for The Batman, which is why I am SO looking foward to TLC's line! I think this is an overall good idea, at least for young kids and cartoon lovers. Quote
