rriggs Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 (edited) Just quick note to apologise to anybody looking at my posts and not seeing any pics. I put my pictures in my own webspace but have recently changed providers and not everything has happened as slickly as it should have done! (massive understatement BTW ). Pics will be back soon - if anyone has even noticed! Anyone else had to change away from Lycos as part of their re-structuring? I'd be interested to know if it's just me or they have muched everybody's stuff up... Cheers Rog Edited March 6, 2009 by Sinner Clarified title
JCC1004 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I was told not to post apology topics. The one I did was more for the staff then readers.
Sir Dillon Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I was told not to post apology topics. The one I did was more for the staff then readers. While apology topics are usually frowned upon, I see this as okay, as it serves as a notice to let us know his pictures won't be showing up. In the future however, this type of thing would probably be better suited as a post in the individual topics that you've posted photos.

Ricecracker Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 That's asking a bit much, don't you think? Especially if you have a lot of topics. I was just thinking that, especially if they are fairly old.
Corvus Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I think a better name for this would be "Apology- temporarily misplaced pics," as this topic seems to suggest that you're apologizing for the quality of them.
Sir Dillon Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 That's asking a bit much, don't you think? Especially if you have a lot of topics. Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant more if there was a couple recent threads that he was worried about people viewing and not seeing the pictures. If someone looks in a thread and finds that the images are missing, they probably won't look in the community forum to find the answer, so it might be helpful to have a notice in the thread.

I think, at best, having a note in your SIGNATURE would be best than posting in different threads.

Sir Dillon Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I think, at best, having a note in your SIGNATURE would be best than posting in different threads. Good point, that would be the simplest and probably most efficient way.
KimT Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Thanks for letting us know that they'll be back soon. As suggested putting such info in one's signature might be a better solution next time.
rriggs Posted March 6, 2009 Author Posted March 6, 2009 I think, at best, having a note in your SIGNATURE would be best than posting in different threads. That is a brilliant idea - Why didn't I think of that in the first place!?! I've now added it to my signature so this can be closed if you like......? Cheers Rog
5150 Lego Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 While apology topics are usually frowned upon, I see this as okay, as it serves as a notice to let us know his pictures won't be showing up. You guys should find aline and be consistant on it. Telling people one minute that opoligiy topics are frowned upon, then saying that this kind is ok, gives mixed messages and causes unneeded headaches for both staff and memebers alike.

I think it's just common sense which ones are ok and which ones aren't. Common sense applies online too, I'm sure if you think "Does the forum need to read this apology?" before you post, I'm sure anyone can figure out if what they're posting is ok or not.
Siegfried Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I've now added it to my signature so this can be closed if you like......? Done!
