Akkhraziel Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I've heard the show is entertaining, but haven't seen it for myself. Moreover, I've heard that the show is *very* popular, one particular number that cropped up was a 3.6 in its time slot, which far outpaced the competition. (If memory serves, 3.6 is the millions of household according to Nielsen sampling data. While such data always is just that, a sampling, market share is valued very heavily in advertising and other suvch things. What the long and short of this message is, it seemed to be one of the most watched cartoons in the market today.) If they had to pick a license, this one seems very promising both in potiential sets and in brining in an audience. Besides, I'm unlikely to argue with anything that gets me more ninja/oriental adventures-esque sets. Akkh Quote
M'Kyuun Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Avatar is fair; it has an interesting premise, but not really to my taste. Actually, I'm surprised TLG didn't acquire the license to IGPX(Immortal Gran Prix), which, again, is an American-Japanese production. It has an alright story featuring several teams which race their mechas around a 60 mile long track. The mecha designs are sleek and interesting, and there are enough of them to keep the Lego designers busy for awhile. Although I generally disdain the majority of Japanese-American shows targeted at kids, this one has a little promise, and I've found myself oddly enjoying it. I've watched enough anime that I've come to expect a certain amount of quirkiness and over-exuberant expressions from the characters. While still present, they're toned down compared to most other shows of the genre. From the first show, however, I found myself thinking that the designs would look quite nice modeled in Lego. Quote
Dragon King Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 The show is sort of well crazy. *wacko* It's kind of cool but to make legos of it is nonsense. It truly is the aurbender waste of money. Who would buy them i kow not me. I am not insulting anyone but this is lego's greatest mistake. Quote
yoda601 Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 I'm 11 and avatar is CARP!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, stupid fish... >:( Or did you mean crap? ;) Quote

These sets are bound to sell very well. Quote

Dragon King Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Well i live in america but not many people talk about it. Mabey they do in other states but not Minnesota. Quote
Evil Willy Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Im in Canada and have never heard of it before this..So it cant be that popular although im old for cartoons now...I dont know, but we just keep our hopes up for good parts/sets etc Quote
M'Kyuun Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 To be honest, I don't actually know how either Avatar or the show I like, IGPX, rate here in the States, as I'm never around kids and have none of my own. I'm all the kid we need, or so says my loving spousal unit. The show I was referencing to be a good inspiration for Lego was IGPX due to its myriad mecha designs. Having seen Avatar only once, I could find naught to be made into a Lego model, unless TLG makes the sailing ships seen occasionally. More ships of yore may appeal to some if done well, but ,given the obscurity of the source material to most AFOLs, will most likely be overshadowed by the infinitely more popular Vikings. Quote

Mabey they will be like Death Eaters with skull face on 1 side normal face on the other because I remember on a few episodes i saw the minions without the skull masks. :oD Quote
The Hordesman Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Being the anime fan Iam, I know bad series from good. Sure, this is an american attempt, but I dont care about keeping a "faction's" side in that debate. A good story is a good story. Thats why I like anime- the good stories... And the great character designs. My biggest dream is though, to create an anime series myself, just in the way of japanese ones (and the animation rate of Miyazaki). Im actually looking forward to this. Ive longed for anime faces, even though they are fleshies they will be useful; peach people being the descendants of the hell, while brown from heaven, this has little to do with their personalities though. Lost Viking Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Wow, I can't wait! Those set's sound great! Thanks Hordesman! Quote

With the peach faces being from "hell", I actually have a similar plan for them, though they won't be decendants, they'll be emissaries ;) Quote
