guys, we didn't want to make this into another topic for set ideas! (Also you didn't amost add anything to the list I did in the first post...) There are already 2 idea topics for Indy, there is one especially for Young Indy and one for UCS, what is a bit too much I think.

So what do you people think about the line? Will it stay for 10 years with endless remakes and all possibilities done, like Star Wars? What if there are 8 other strong sets next year? What afterwards?

thanks, zzz out! :classic:

I was just listing posibilties for more sets so people realize that there aren't only a few ideas left. By the way on your post you left out some important sets that could be made.

You people are all too damn pessimistic. The fact is, if IJ only had one more year to go, we would've already noticed a visible decline in quality. For example: In its first year, Batman released six sets; in its penultimate year, two. Last year, Agents released eight sets of simply stunning quality. This year, five sets (of which I have three). Two of those three that I own have received a resounding "meh". Logic and experience say Agents will bow out next year.

Now, we look at IJ. In the first year, a good nine sets. (Ten if you count the video game.) This year, seven. (Eight if you count the upcoming second video game, and there are rumours of yet another set to be released at a later date.) These sets live up to the quality of year one, if you ask me. If there were plans to axe Indy, we would know it.

With the average amount of sets per theme that Lego releases every year, we have another couple of years to exhaust every single possibility. And SW and Spongebob show us that there's nothing wrong with remakes, just so long as they're well done. SW has rem-used the Slave I like, what, five times now?

Another thing is publicity. Before a theme fades out, the publicity for said usually becomes lazy and lacklustre. So far, Indy's publicity seems as steady as ever.

And besides, we have seen that, if done properly, a licensed theme can last at least two years longer than a regular theme, because the set designers don't have to come up with their own ideas. One of the biggest theme-killers is the fact that the Lego Group's creativity has declined by about 30% in the past decade or so. With licenses, they just take the pre-existing material and tweak it slightly.

Relax, I think we have a good two-four years left. So sit back, take about six Valium as my dad would say, and haul your Venice Canal Chase off the shelf. We'll be OK.

Good point made.

Ah, nice to see this topic again. Tge theme is a little young for remakes like SB and minis would be okay but I'd prefer UCS. Some sets listed like Ckub Obi-wan, Brunwald, Circus Train could easily be UCS. They'd hurt my wallet but they'd be the best Indy sets. SW UCS usally doesn't have figs but figs would be nice for Indy UCS. Capt. Redblade, you might want to repost that here.

I think just like the star wars movies, there are ton's of scenarios they can turn into sets. Just becasue this movie series is not as vehicle intensive as SW, I think it can still be used for years to come.

I personally hope that Indy can last one more year. Something I'd like to see is a German Solider Battlepack or a Thuggee Battle Pack.

The German Solider Pack comes with four, individual soliders with weapons and you'd probably have to include a vehicle, so a side-car motorcycle.

The Thuggee pack, obviously, comes with four Thuggee soliders with those swords that I can't remember the name of, but not the troll sword. Its vehicle, if any, would have to be a Mine Cart to add to your TOD set.

I'd also even go with a Brotherhood of the Crusiform Sword or Russian Solider Battle Pack

I think and hope that they will continue the line of this set, because of the new videogame, and ofcourse the new movie.

The grail temple is something that I have been waiting for.

I don't really like the idea of making mini's and remaking "old" sets won't be a good idea either. :sceptic:

If TLG is smart, they should play for the new Indiana Jones videogame and then make sets of the levels they liked most.

What are the "rumors of another set to be released at a later time?"

An early listing of sets from another website (rebelscum or jedinews or something like that) said that Lego would release a total of 8 Indy sets this year.

Went to this store few days ago to pick some new sets and i also took a look into that retailers catalogue or hows that catalogue which stores have called. And then i've noticed this strange thing. There we pictures of the latests indy sets but all of them featured different minifigures that we actually got. Different torsos, different faces..they were really awkward. Venice canal chase for example had minifigs that looked more like the British police and not those grail guardians in suits.

Rather weird but whatever.

Cant wait for any more new indy sets.

Hehe yeah i saw these i assume =)

There was this prelim mark on the advent calenders but not on any other sets so it was kinda funny seeing those sets in a catalogue and the actual sets with completely different minifigs just a meter apart. heh

I think they send the retailer's catalouge out before the final images are made so there is more time for retailers to buy them The catalouge you saw was probaly last years. I dout this years have been sent out.

Actually, the rumour of an 8 set assortment came from EB, and there was never any confirmation of it anywhere.

Navy Trooper Fenson posted the most likely explanation of the confusion here. The thread is worth reading and you will see that all the rumours are unsubstantiated.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for a further Indy release this year; after the September/ October releases (RBR and the Xmas sets) Lego usually switches focus to production of the forthcoming January lines (which in some countries arrive in December or even late November, like Pirates in the US last year).

TLG has recently wanted to keep everything a secret. We'll see them later but probably not in August.

No, this is the post from Jedi News from which mention of 8 sets originated.

Indiana Jones - Expected January

•Shang Hi Chase (from The Temple of Doom opening)

•Fight on the Flying Wing (from Raiders of the Lost Ark)

A further six standard release sets are expected in August, spread over all four films.

As the five other sets debuted long before August, the possibility of a sixth set in August remained, and remains, a possibility. Lego does surprise us from time to time (like with the Death Star last year and the Republic Dropship this year).

Thanks for the link!

But 10188 was announced well in advance, and we had several weeks notice of the Dropship as well.

I still don't think another Indy set is at all likely in 09. That Jedi news post is now over 12 months old, and even if it was true at the time doesn't mean things couldn't have changed at any point before the 09 line was finalised.

I wouldn't hold your breath

where did you find the official announcement from the Lego group?I've been searching for it and I can't fin it anywhere on here. Surely it should be posted in this topic as accoring to the news you sent in to indycast it states that there will be sets made throughout 2010! :sceptic: good news for indyfans!post it up!

There's no reason Lego might not be postponing a release until later this year. After all, the Tantive IV isn't going to be released for some time still.

Do I think there will be an eighth Indy set released this year? I don't know nor do I care to speculate. My initial post was merely to point out that the source of the "eighth set" rumour goes back to the reference to such in that link and my second post to confirm the information of my first. The early nature of the refence to an eight set demonstrated many inaccuracies compared to what would be (for example, no TIE Bomber) and thus seven sets may be all that Lego decided upon. Perhaps they initially were going to release eight but were displeased with one set and decided against it. Then again, they may simply have planned to release an eighth set later. Is it probable? Yes. Is it certain? No. That's the most that can be said.
