Thanks for the link!

But 10188 was announced well in advance, and we had several weeks notice of the Dropship as well.

I still don't think another Indy set is at all likely in 09. That Jedi news post is now over 12 months old, and even if it was true at the time doesn't mean things couldn't have changed at any point before the 09 line was finalised.

I wouldn't hold your breath

I agree with youy Svelte. There are several errors on the page. I didn't see a TIE bomber this year.

Don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere else on this forum (I looked, apologies if this belongs elsewhere!) but I noticed something odd at my local Target (Ohio, US) while walking down the LEGO aisle on a mission to find something else.

Needless to say, the Lancaster Ohio Target is now sold out of set 7682s.

Thats strange. Did you get one? Is this just at your store or in other places?

Oh yeah, I bought every copy they had! As soon as I saw it I grabbed one and walked over to the self scan/price check kiosk and verified it was actually listed at $7.48 in their system. When I confirmed that, I grabbed every box they had and went to checkout. They rang up $7.48 at checkout too.

I have no idea if this was a stock error at my local Target, if it's system-wide, or if these were meant to be clearanced and they weren't marked with red tags on the boxes.

Figured I'd pass on the info so anyone can check their local stores and stock up.

where did you find the official announcement from the Lego group?I've been searching for it and I can't fin it anywhere on here. Surely it should be posted in this topic as accoring to the news you sent in to indycast it states that there will be sets made throughout 2010! :sceptic: good news for indyfans!post it up!

I found it on jedinews.uk.co the same site that posted the rumor about it ending :classic:

I was at my Target two days ago and nothing. I check their site and was still at 29.99. How many did you get? Did the clerk say anything to you?

And it's called Temple of Doom for some reason too!
What do you mean? That is at the start of The Temple Of Doom movie.

I sure hope my local Target has that price on these sets, because I could use a few more...

Wow, lucky find! I don't think my local target has any for that price, but I dunno, I haven't checked recently. Hmmm, why don't you go to target sometime and see (when, or it, they restock) if it's at the same price or if it's back to normal.

What's this junk about Indy ending? I kinda doubt it. Why would they end it already? They ended Batman because they said TDK was "too dark". I haven't seen TDK, so I don't know, but that's what they said. Indy 4 wasn't "too dark" so why would they end Indy?

It's not ending this year. It will run through 2010.

1) See the Dark Knight ASAP. :classic::thumbup:

2) They could end Indy for a number of reasons, including sales, how many other licenses they have, etc...If they ever chose to, it definitely wouldn't be because its too dark. I think a majority of the sets that have been released are based on KOTCS...

However, according to JediNews, a Lego rep told them that Indy has strong sales in both sets and Video Games, so both will continue into 2010. :classic:

The Ambassador that asked that question also clarified that Lego's response said only that the 09 line would continue to be sold in 2010.

So until we actually have official confirmation one way or the other, it's still just speculation

I just happy it will be running through next year. I doubt the will sell the old sets with no new ones. I don't see almost any 08 sets at stores or S@H except Temple Escape. If they don't release much I can get sone OT SW!

:sceptic: That stinks. The way JediNews made it sound led one to believe there would be new sets. I'm hoping that the good sales indicate more sets, because I know a few people that would buy them... Some of those new Prince of Persia figure parts just scream Indy...

I know I'm walking into this late (I've been away from the whole EB forum for a while - my attentions have simply been pulled elsewhere lately), but just on the off chance anyone from TLC is following the thread, I want to add my own voice to those here expressing their love for this theme, and their hopes it will continue a bit longer. I can certainly see some life left in it, even if they stick with just the movies - the circus train is a natural for a LEGO set, and if they did it at all it would surely be the largest Indy set ever. There's also the Lao Che Air Freight trimotor, the Marshall College bike / car chase, the tank, and numerous other things, including the entirety of Young Indy (which I don't think would ever be represented as heavily as the movies, but I do think they could do at least a couple sets from the show to fill out the line; personally, I'd absolutely love for them to do dozens and dozens of sets, including something from every episode, but I know that's not going to happen. Ah, well...). There's all kinds of stuff they could do.

(And yes, the Thuggee battlepacks would be an excellent idea!)

Thanks for reviving this thread, guys! I almost forgot about it and had a lot to do in the past months. Also the heavy rumor that Indyis not going to be prolonged in 2010 kind of shocked me a bit, I was not in the mood so far to comment about that.

In my initital post here I made a small list of possible sets to prove that there is some potential, but actually not too many. Most of my concerns, though, were based on Indy not being made into too many toys in the past 25 years. I don't want to start the so old SW-Indy comparision when it comes to marketing (cause you cannot compare SW to anything else) and I don't want to speak about the potential, but I guess there have been more toys for - lets say - James Bond than for Indy. That concerned me in my first post (and I got some heavy critic on my pessimistic opinion), but I didn't imagine it to end so soon. My thoughts were actually optimism if Indy really ends in 2010, if Jedi News is right and if we got the interview right.

What really bugs me much more than not getting the actual Indy sets, is in fact not getting the parts and minifigs. Being someone who prefers realistic and detailed Lego things, who likes movies and even as a child tried to put these into Lego, I noticed how well the "realistic" colours and bricks, the unique detailed minifigs help me to moc around with them. (I am not the one being attracted by blue, orange or red City vehicles or the strange Castle buildings)

I am going to miss future Indy sets for the support of useful colours and detailed, fleshy minifigs. Spiderman, Batman and Harry the Potter had some, not too many, but some. Indy was a dream come true for me. 30s style female dress, lots of guys' suits, chinese shirt, soldier uniforms, leather jackets ... and Willie in her indian dress... how could we ever find something like this again too soon? It will be sad to live with some left out opportunities and to work with what we got so far, but it will be a pleasant "work" nonetheless. Wonderful theme for MOCing!

I thought Indy BP too! I'll add more details later. Just want to get my ideas out.

Thugge v.s. soliders (british)

Ugha v.s. Russian soliders

Christ people(what are they called?) v.s. Nazis(Crusade)

Yeah, I agree with you, there isnt much left to make, maybe club obi wan but nothing else. The line probably will end next year.

It appears you're right about it ending next year (or rather, going on hiatus, anyway), but there's still a ton of stuff they could do:

- the Dunn & Duffy circus train (seriously, a LEGO Indy train set would also still be a LEGO Train set, after all, which means it'd have crossover appeal, especially with the animals and all it would have to have; if done, this would likely be the largest Indy set ever)

- Lao Che Air Freight's Ford Trimotor (a recurring concept in this theme has been the $50 plane set - Peril in Peru, Fight on the Flying Wing, Fighter Plane Attack; this could be one more, and it'd be arguably the most attractive plane done, and from an iconic scene)

- the elephant trek / jungle campsite on the way to Pankot Palace

- the Hatay tank

... and that's just for starters, and just some of the more obvious candidates, just from the movies. If they ever chose to do stuff from The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles / The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones or the "expanded adventures" (novels, comics, games, etc.), there's a huge range of stuff they could do, limited only by what the market would bear.

Where is the source of this rumour that Indy won't be continued into 2010? I always assumed it would go on for much longer than this. If Pirates and Indy are both discontinued, I won't have anything left to collect.

Why would they confirm that Pirates have been discontinued, but not Indy? Or shouldn't I read too much into that?

I was especially looking forward to two things - the circus train and the German castle, both from the Last Crusade. The castle would have been gorgerous, and trains are always fun.

Correct me if I'm so off, but... I think having the second Lego Indy game out soon is a good marker that there might be more sets. Like with the HP one and possibly more HP sets in the future.

Izzy, appartently, video games of LEGO and LEGO sets production have no direct link or influence over it, as video games do not automatically means they will extend the theme, similar to Batman license. It's disappointing that there are no clear indciations that Indy is extending for the 3rd year. :cry_sad:

Awww well that's just silly. At least we'll have two games and a bunch of super sets to remember it by. :sweet:

WhiteFang is right, this doesn't really mean much. Look at the Pirates range, which has a chess set, tic tac toe, a coin bank, an advent calendar, a pack of cards, a battle pack, a treasure box, a magnet set and a key chain... so much merchandise, all of which might make you assume they intended to continue the line, but they never did.

It seems that the only real proof that a line will be continued from one year to the next is when new sets are announced.
