I tried it afer I read somewhere that it was something Harry Potter like except with an evil protagonist.

I read the first few chapters and decided it was extremely badly written, predictable and uninteresting, and the codes in the margins were way too easy for anyone over 10 years old, so I put it away again... sorry.

Same here. The books are really typical and boring.
