Darth Nihilus Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Can anyone guess who this is . PM------------ATOC--------CW-1--------CW-3--------TCW-1-------TCW-3------ROTS---------ANH----------ROTJ I was looking at my Officers and I thought a little bit of MODing and here is the result. darthnihilius: To make it look more like a commando you need to bring the cheek plating in a bit more like on mine. Nice job on Obi-Wan Mr. Man, I'll be sure to bring in the cheek plating as you suggested on the next version. I wasn't really going for the complete commando look though, more of a ARC/Commando hybrid. Quote
CloneTrooperSergeant Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Those officers are lookin pretty good ADHO! Have you tried Admiral Dao or Admiral Tenant yet? Quote
ADHO15 Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Thanks, CTS. They're on my list. And thank you, darth. Your clone looks better now. Great job, Mr Man! Those are some lovely looking Obi-Wans. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 (edited) Thanks, ADHO. I think the droid kill tallies are the best part of him, the design is one of my best. The only thing I would want to updat is that the stripe goes a little too far up. But overall, great job guys, keep it up! I wish Sparky would come back, I miss him. Awesome work on Obi-wan, Mr Man, I was wondering if you ever have some extra time and even take request I would love to see you do some female imperial officers like Juno Elipse, Admiral Daala, Moff Nyna Calixte (from the Legacy comic books), or even just some female versions of officers and crewmen, once again keep up the good work :) Quote

If you look further up at the previous image those helmets are also used by Wolfe and Fordo they don't seem to serve a function like scout helmets, and the eyes are starting to look like Stormtrooper eyes, so it looks like their are a next step in the evolution of the armour and helmet styles. It is ARC Trooper Fordo from the mini series Clone Wars that has the Jaig Eyes. Fordo and Wolffe wore the helmet to look like individuals. The people who designed the characters used the helmet design so you would be able to tell who the clone is under the helmet without having to guess who it is. Just like Cody and Fox have the visor on their helmets. But i understand why you would think that the helmet is slowly evolving Edited November 5, 2011 by CC-0666Grenade Quote

I doubt that the Grand Army of the Republic would spend the money to produce an new type of helmet just so Officers could look cool, it's more likely they used Wolfe, Fordo, and Neyo to test the new prototype helmet they where working on, wheres Cody has the visor to protect his eyes when he uses his jet pack, as for Fox I have no idea why he wore one. A for the idea of knowing who people are without taking their helmets off, Wolfes individual colour scheme does that without needing a special helmet. The helmet was already in production for the BARC Speeder Troopers. Fordo and Wolffe probably used the helmet because they liked its look better than the regular phase 2 helmet, after all the clones are individuals. The Clone Assassins also wear the BARC helmet. Rex welded his phase 1 and 2 helmets together because he wanted the upgrades of the phase 2 helmet, but he liked the look of his phase 1 helmet t-visor. If you were to look at some phase 2 clone troopers, you would notice that there are several different helmet variations, like the beehive helmet the Parjai Squad wears. There is also the Engineer helmet which Commander Faie wears. Edited November 5, 2011 by CC-0666Grenade Quote

There is also the Engineer helmet which Commander Faie wears. Only 2 BARC troopers where seen wearing it and that was in ROTS for all we know they could have got the helmet after, Fordo and Wolfe. The clone assassins aren't strictly canon as they only appear in the video game, but they could have been equipped with it because it's more visually intimidating than the Phase II helmet, much like the Stormtrooper helmet. I know other variations of the Phase II helmet exist, i.e the 'beehive helmet the Parjai Squad wears' is the Clone Paratroopers helmet that has an extra set of re-breathers to help filter high altitude air, and the Clone Engineer helmet has a search light in the top, also the Clone Scout Troopers on Kayshekk have Scout Trooper helmets because of their jungle environment. The point I was making was the Scout or paratrooper helmets are specially adapted for a job but the Phase 2.5 helmet isn't therefore logical it must just be a evaluation of the Phase 2 helmet. THe BARC Trooper would have being better off wearing the ARF or Scout Trooper helmets. Quote

BARC Troopers and Assassins wore them because of special modifications added. It is really a modified Phase 2 helmet. Another thing, If it was a phase 2.5, how come Wollfe was wearing one when Phase 2 armor was just issued? These were mostly made for BARC Troopers. This quote from Wookiepedia's BARC Trooper article explains it better: "Many BARC troopers, although not all of them, wore a modified variant of the regular clone trooper armor, with a blindered helmet that directs the trooper's view directly forwards, allowing him to better concentrate on his route." Oh, and ADHO, Commander Appo Plus, there were two troopers from Darkness on Umbara Named Oz and Ringo, i can't find a pic, but they are just two normal 501st Clones Edited November 5, 2011 by CloneTrooperSergeant Quote

If that is the case then that would be the worst possible helmet for front line soldiers like Wolfe or Fordo to wear, it would just block their vision there must be some other reason why. Another thing, If it was a phase 2.5, how come Wolfe was wearing one when Phase 2 armor was just issued? A prototype for a #phase II helmet possibly, that was then phased out due to problems until after the release of the Phase II helmet. Quote

I meant that the version worn by Wolfe was a prototype and was phased out until they improved it and equipped more troopers with it, none of Tsui Choi's Clones where BARC troopers and nether was Fordo. It seems to me that that became the standard clone helmet after phase II. Quote

It seems to me that that became the standard clone helmet after phase II. But it was not standard after phase 2, look at Appo, Vill, and any other clones that became stormtroopers... they kept their normal Phase 2 armor. And that helmet is usually used by BARCs, but not always. Some clones liked it better than the usual helmet. and Faie wore the same helmet that engineers wore, but he wasnt an engineer, So maybe thats what Wollfe or Fordo did with that armor. Quote

CC-0666Grenade Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 (edited) I've been working on some of my own unit Clone Troopers. Here is my Clone Commander CC-0666 Grenade. I was originally going to have him keep his phase 1 helmet till the end of the war, but I kind of like Rex's welded helmet so that he could enjoy the upgraded environment protection. He uses a prototype ARC Trooper helmet instead of the regular phase 2 helmet Edited November 5, 2011 by CC-0666Grenade Quote

I have also made an ARC Trooper of my own that works with Grenade. He is one of the original Alpha-class ARC Troopers that was trained by Jango Fett. He is A-33 Appo. I named him after Commander Appo of the 501st. Edited November 6, 2011 by CC-0666Grenade Quote
