If any of you clicked that PM link from "pinupka", I would recommend that you do a virus scan or something...you don't know what might have been in that link... :sceptic:

No, of course I didn't click the link (I always check the link at that status bar at the bottom of the browser).

Anyone know of a good virus scanner for the Mac ?

Is there any point in saying, "I got spammed by that guy too!" after a pile of other people have already said it? How about when the person has been banned since right after it happened?

No, there isn't. So cut it out. Seriously, it's silly and it's getting old and it's going to stop here.

The proper place to report spam is through the PM system. If you see that the person who spammed you is already banned, save yourself some effort and just delete it, it's over, he's gone. Otherwise, notify us and we'll take care of him. Then he's gone. See how that works?

It's almost like no one here has ever experienced spam before on the internet.

Since that seems to be the case, I'll give you a quick lesson in internet forum spam:

  • Don't click any links in it. EVER.
  • Don't buy anything from someone you don't know who offers to sell you something that you didn't ask about.
  • Don't reply at all.
  • Report it to us.
  • Delete it.
  • Move on with your life.

How's that sound, everyone?

Now move along, there's nothing to see here. :hmpf:

I checked in the database and it seems this spammer send several hundreds of these PMs. Very sorry for this inconvenience. The user is banned, so please just delete the PM.

Sorry for bumping this thread (oh well, it's not too old at all.) but earlier today I got a PM from someone called "miqnuliks" or something like that with a link..has anyone else gotten this? Oh, and the SAME PERSON! With the SAME SUBJECT! PM'ed me with that on another forum - a forum which has nothing to do with Lego. (game stuff etc..) I was wondering if this has happened to everyone..

Yup I got it, If their rank isant banned or taking a break or something just send it/report it to an admin.

Yeah i got it too...

But thankfully, the 'BANNED', and '0 posts' kinda said to me, 'don't open that link' :classic:

Yup I didn't open it either, Since the popup came it said "miqnuliks is a member of the group BANNED" I was like riggghhhtt... *delete*

I got the same PM as well, but honestly the best way to stop this from happening is to just delete it then move on. Giving all of these spammers attention is just one more reason for them to send out more spam. Besides I have to hand it to the mods for doing a great job with banning these members as they're always banned by the time I look at the pm.

Keep up the great work mods :sweet: .

Add this to your common sense file:

Don't click on links in e-mails or PMs from people you don't know.

Also, never click on a link that seems to come from your bank or any credit card company or site where you have your financial information. If it seems plausible that they need info from you, either login at their website and check the customer center for information or call the company directly. There are brilliant phishing scams out there that look exactly like Chase Bank, Visa or even eBay.

Anyway, like Sinner said, the poll won't make up our mind about this issue but our eye is always on this type of thing and the safety of our members...

I got a message from a guy named "peterlbarth" he said he needed help reporting a problem. I told him I was glad to help, but he hasn't replied. Has anyone else got a PM from this guy.

I've been getting spam with links (probably to pretty daisy sights)

Thankfully I look at the status and not open it if it's a banned outlaw or if the message has nothing but a link.

And some spammer on Brickforge has even been sending out fake Paypal emails, saying they owe like $18.00 or something.

"Biff the Wookie" has spoken.

Please just pm the admins/mods if the user is not already banned.

Some scumsack sent me a link to some purverted site a few minutes after he was banned how did he do this? His name was nusgriba has he found a way to hack on to the site?

Well, with your name being "computerbug," you sound like a complete hypocrite.

Not really, but I thought I would make the connection.

How do you know when he was banned? I've been sent a nasty message by someone before, but by the time I read it, they were already taken care of and had the "BANNED" stamp. Maybe this was the case for you?

He's been here before sending links to the same page. I got a message by him both times.

But how do you know when he was banned?

Just don't open messages from members you don't know. This has happened from time to time, and they are generally members who have 0 or not many posts. Besides you shouldn't open links if you don't know who they are from.
