Johnny 5 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 This is in response to this thread and post, ImperialShadows wants us to be positive, so lets be positive. Tell us what makes you happy, it can be LEGO related or just something in your life. For me it is the level of involvement TLG has had with the AFOL community in recent years. We are getting fantastic things aimed at us and its just getting better. Quote
Brickmaster Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 (edited) In such times of economic struggle, possible job loss, and stress, it seems there are diminishing things that make one happy. Lately afew of my hobbies are my only escapes, aswell as my significant other. Even there there has been some stress involved. Everything is amazing these days, yet noone seems happy. I don't know if it's because of how the generation was brought up, or what, but it is a reocurring trend; just look at the amazing technology, but the new and unbridled amounts of negative attitude. I honestly have even lost time for my Lego hobby, and don't have the money for it. If anything, the money I spent on it all is starting to stress me. Immediately after posting I realized I was rather negative; my girlfriend and hobbies do make me happy, and I have a positive future, and I have my stuff together, unlike alot of teens these days. I am only a junior, and for my senior year, I will be attending a tech school and getting both that credit, along with highschool credits, and the school is paying for it. I get started on my 2 year degree for wind technology, which is a job in incredible demand and pays very well. I have been in a happy relationship for over half of a year, and am doing fairly well in school. I have alot to be happy for, but the stress lately has been catching up to me; my apologies for the negativity. Edited March 12, 2009 by Brickmaster Quote
Peppermint_M Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 (oh, the pet peeves place was a good place to vent all those little frustrations that put a coat of grumpy over my pysche) I find that a new Lego MOC gone well, a new set tracked down and my orders arriving are very "happy" events. I also like it when I find a ZOID. "Happy" isn't really something I can quantify, as I am not familiar with it (I got to around teen things didn't go so well and since then I can't remember the happy like you have when under ten) just good mood, bad mood and really miserable. Lego, listening to music I like and watching films and cartoons, comic books and regular books all put me in a great mood. Whenever I am feeling down or stressed I pop into the loft and play with my Lego, whether I make a new MOC or play with the sets I have, minifig sorting and making viginettes and by the end of the time I spend playing (I can build for up to three hours without noticing sometimes) I feel great. hollisbrick Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Great thread. Just hopefully no one will ruin this thread by posting in it to man times and spamming it.. Well today I handed in my science asssignment Lots of relief there! Also I almost asked out the girl I like (she makes me happy) haha, she said we'll talk tomorrow so hopefully it's a positive talk And now I'm about to play my bass which makes me happy Quote
Darth_Legois Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Everything is amazing these days, yet noone seems happy. I don't know if it's because of how the generation was brought up, or what, but it is a reocurring trend; just look at the amazing technology, but the new and unbridled amounts of negative attitude. Reminds me of something from Stargate SG-1 [Although it does apply in RL] Daniel: *Soon after losing Sha're is sitting on bed looking at a pen* Sam: *Walks in* Hi Daniel: Have you ever really studied these *still staring at the pen* Sam: A pen? Daniel: I spent half my life studying the history of the written word, including how various cultures recorded things through the ages. From hammers and chisels to quills and ink. But I never stopped once to recognize the ingenuity of this simple little peace of technology that we use. After the first team left me on Abydos, Sha're saw me writing in my journal and thought the ballpoint I was using was magic. A little device like this pen was such a wonder to her. The simplest thing was a wonder to her. Also I almost asked out the girl I like (she makes me happy) haha, she said we'll talk tomorrow so hopefully it's a positive talk Go HB! Err anyway I guess when playing with LEGO makes me happy ESPECIALLY when stuff goes right, what I mean is like when you invision something in your head and IT ACTUALLY WORKS OUT in "Real" LEGO form Hanging out with friends I guess too just talking doing stuff... And wrestling with my nephews is always fun too Quote
DarthSion Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 (edited) And people say i'm negative. 1. Peace and quite, which has all but gone since the girl (and i use the term very loosely) hell spawn of Satan moved in next door. 2. The odd gem quality TV show to come out of holycrapnotanotherremakewood. 3. Unleashing the force when I'm ticked off, there is something calming about picking up a storm trooper, impaling, electrocuting, and then throwing them like a rag doll, or just throwing them as high into the air as you can. 4. My PlayStation's. 5. Girl who like guy things, star wars, PlayStation's, lego. 6. Normal/curvy girls, bones is not sexy. 7. Winter. 8. Getting a lego piece when there's a 15 or 20% off sale. 9. My chrome Vader. 10. Girls over 18. Edited March 12, 2009 by DarthSion Quote
Buttons Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 5. Girl who like guy things, star wars, PlayStation's, lego. You may get some stick for that LOL Quote
Johnny 5 Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 2. The odd gem quality TV show to come out of holycrapnotanotherremakewood.10. Girls over 18. I totally agree with these two. TV shows with a bit of nostalgia for a better show that came before are enjoyable to me. Girls over 18, well nothing more needs to be said. Quote
VBBN Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Simple: Being with my friends, family, and girlfriend. Sure, I'm a fraction goth, but that doesn't mean I'm negative. Quote
Buttons Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 The first goes without saying VBBN And I think goths are happy just a little different, but everyone is different in their own way Quote
Natman8000 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I am generally happy, but what make me the most happy is learning Torah at Yeshiva. (for those who dont know what that means- bible studies) It really makes me feel amazing and satisfied. Quote
Lego12 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I could make a 500 million long list of everything that makes me happy. Things that make me really happy are my family, my friends, Eurobricks, Lego, girls ( ), and meg@b1ock$. I'm obviously kidding about the last one. I like to spend time with my friends and family and I like visiting Eurobicks. I absolutely love building with my Lego and collecting Lego......... There's no need to be negative, whatever the reason. I'm usually happy and rarely negative, unless I don't have spending money for my Lego........ Life is full of surprises and that makes it even better! Its like finding a Chrome Vader in a CW set.......... Quote
prateek Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 when i get stuff... since my sisters recieve gifts very often, and i dont, i fell very happy when i recieve them Quote

That is a good reason to be joyous! I get really good money on old pokemon cards, like that charizord or whatever is worth 100$ Quote
DarthSion Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) I am happy right now too, got the V-19 and magna guard heavy discounted, but that's not the main reason. The main reason is the election, not because labour won for the 5th time in Queensland, not because its the first time a woman won, just because its over, no more political ads. Why cant they just say this is what i am going to do, why must they always go on about the other guys past/mistakes. Edited March 23, 2009 by DarthSion Quote
Legoman Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) Ah great topic! Lets see... Board Games!
