SlyOwl Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 As everyone else is saying, Adventurers and Aquazone take it for me. Whilst there Indy sets are fantastic, they're too expensive for what you get (and fleshies), so I would buy non-licensed versions, especially down the Jungle and Desert lines. And I'm more of a fan of the older sub-marine stuff, like Stingrays, over the newer Human vs Animal thing. Where was the RSPCA, anyway? Fabuland pleaase. :classic: FABULAND! As long as it isnt DUPLO. Never! Fabuland + <insert that tiresome argument> catapults do not mix Seriously though, I think it would ruin the nostalgia value of them totally.
Matn Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Its doubtful it will be revived. There aren't enough signature locales/buildings in the new movies to warrant sets. LEGO models need to be based around a central action, and the new books/movies don't lend themselves well to that. That, and the books/movies are getting darker. Don't get me wrong, I like the books, and I liked the line, I just think they ran out of things to base sets around. Dark is such a big word. ;P For me: a dark movie, is a movie with uncensored blood, raw action, seeing people breaking their bones, etc. Even Batman wasn't too dark for LEGO. ;/ Harry Potter isn't dark it all. Maybe the last part will be dark. But untill now they weren't too dark. The sixth movie won't be dark with all the loving between the characters. The end will.
h.k. Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I think I'd revive Adventurers or Lego Studios. Probably Lego Studios.
just2good Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) Adventurers! That theme was great! I always wonder what happened after Orient Expedetion.... My second choice would be studios. A new ghost set would be awsome. My third choice would be western. That theme rocked! Edited March 15, 2009 by just2good
Raphy Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Can you choose subthemes as well? Anyways, here's my complete list, in no specific order.... Wild West Paradisa Aquazone Fabuland For subthemes I'd probably like the Drome Racers back. Lego have no plans on quitting the Tiny Turbo line, and I hope it will stay that way. But it would be cool if only they belonged to, and solely to, the Drome Racers line. And came with bonus minifigs, not so they can fit inside, but so they can just match the cars. 4-wide is the minifig scale in my opinion. Either that or 6-wide ;)
L-space Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I have to go for Adventurers. A great opportunity to expand the Orient Expedition to others parts of the world. I know they did South America and Egypt but not in the way they did Orient with the game interwoven in the whole experience. that is what topped it off for me.
M'Kyuun Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Classic Space...the old blue and grey stuff was great, and remains popular. An updated version of the theme would sell well, methinks.
Dollar Bill Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Adventurers and Wild West, more than anything.
Clone OPatra Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I would love to see new Wild West, as long as LEGO didn't forget baseplates (something they seem not to like much anymore). However, I realize that the whole Cowboys and Indians thing is really not around much anymore among kids, so I don't know how much LEGO would really get out of new Wild West. If they can't do a whole new Wild West line, I would love if they did one or two special tribute sets. Perhaps a nice $50 or $100 set with the level of coolness and detail as Market Village, of a small junction town, or a fort maybe? That would be awesome.
KinGanon Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I'm getting nostalgic goosebumps just thinking about LEGO reviving Ninjas. Seriously they would sell very well in this video game crazed society, not to mention bringing back katanas and samurai
Millacol88 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Dark is such a big word. ;PFor me: a dark movie, is a movie with uncensored blood, raw action, seeing people breaking their bones, etc. Even Batman wasn't too dark for LEGO. ;/ Harry Potter isn't dark it all. Maybe the last part will be dark. But untill now they weren't too dark. The sixth movie won't be dark with all the loving between the characters. The end will. Sorry if I sound like a know-it-all, but it has been said that the reason they ended the HP line was because the movies were getting too dark for the target audience, and that the newer movies were lacking in central action points. Its the same story with Batman. Why do you think no scenes/vehicles/buildings from the newer, darker movies were ever made into sets by TLC? Heres a link to an episode of LAML Radio were Steve Witt, a LEGO Community Relations Coordinator, explains that the HP movies are getting darker and outside of the target range. He says its the same for batman. LINK. listen to it towards the end.
Bricks Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 1. Fabuland 2. Adventurers 3. Classic Space 'Bricks'
legotrainfan Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I'd love to see the following themes revived: 1. Forestmen 2. Futuron 3. Classic Space
Majek Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I think that they should bring back the older series and redo them. You can come up with some many new ideas for the old themes. Paradisa theme should be revived.
Svelte Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I think there is potential to bring back a limited range of 'Legends' - maybe 2 releases a year. Seriously, that way you get the best of every theme, without the dross. There's still plenty of potential in the older sets for revival. I know there are a host of problems with old moulds not being available etc, but these can be overcome. If they can bring back the turkey body for MMV, and re-do minifigs for the Vintage minifig collections, it can't be impossible to recreate select pieces. Old grey enthusiasts would probably complain that the new sets would be in bley tones, but you know what? I'd love to have some of the older sets redone in the new colours. Printed castle panels and corner walls, anyone? Lego also seems much more savvy these days to the vintage/ retro/ nostalgia dollar, so bringing back some Classic Town houses (like 6374) would be cheaper to produce (less parts than modern sets) while also cashing in on the feelgood factor. However I wouldn't want these new Legends to replace or push out the current amazing exclusives, hence the limited release of 2 per year.
Oky Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Harry Potter definitely! Regardless of how awesome Harry Potter is, the Lego theme consisted of many great sets that brought us a ton of new and highly useful parts & figs! But Avatar would be cool too! There are still so many cool sets that could be made from this show, as Hinckley's Entry Raffle has proven!
Darth Legolas Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 I'm praying that in two years from now, Star Wars won't be on the list of dead themes in need of being revived!
Natman8000 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I'm praying that in two years from now, Star Wars won't be on the list of dead themes in need of being revived! Shhh, you pessimist! I also would like Alpha team to make a cameo in the Agents theme or at least a reference. And defiantly a rehash of classic space (the legends theme is a great idea!)
CP5670 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 What exactly qualifies as a theme? I would say all of space, like this kind of space: Old grey enthusiasts would probably complain that the new sets would be in bley tones, but you know what? I'd love to have some of the older sets redone in the new colours. Printed castle panels and corner walls, anyone? Actually, I think the color change killed off the Legends concept more than anything else, since the blay ones probably didn't sell as well to their target market. I remember seeing many of the 2004 Legends discounted in the S@H catalogs a few years ago, and even today there is a very noticeable difference in the prices of 2001-2003 Legends and the 2004 Legends on Bricklink and ebay.
Legoman Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I'd have to say Western C'mon, all our inside childishness love cowboys and indians!
Svelte Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I remember seeing many of the 2004 Legends discounted in the S@H catalogs a few years ago, and even today there is a very noticeable difference in the prices of 2001-2003 Legends and the 2004 Legends on Bricklink and ebay. You're probably right. They seemed to be practically giving the 10159 Airport set away towards the end. I still think they could revisit the Legends theme, but pitch it differently. Instead of doing the huge, expensive sets that AFOLs adore but the general public isn't so keen on, they could play up the vintage angle. On the other hand, I guess that's what sets like the retro-styled Town Plan are for - Lego as people might remember it when they were kids, not what it actually was.

I didn't heard of the color change until I broke of my airport. If I knew this before, I had never bought it. Not only the colors, but also the wings with those ugly stud holes. I think the sets before weren't so different with the original. I have the Metroliner and the Club Car, both the re-releases, but I think there are only little differences. What I also would like to see: Western, Model Team, Avatar, Res-Q, Xtreme Team, Arctic and Divers. Stealth Hunter Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Rock Raiders! Power Miners is just not able to replace it.
Dadster Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 (edited) Great thread idea. I know "they've" (fantasy line) got a lot going on right now, but I'd prob bring back/ update the Forrestmen, Wolf Pack, Bull Warriors, etc. Wild West would be cool as well though... Oh! And Ogel needs to return!! Edited March 16, 2009 by Dadster
