iamded Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 (edited) Something I put together on my day off for the contest over at FBTB. Grabbed all the Skellie sets I have, deconstructed them, and started building. Picture is link. I've got the photo box set up, now I just need to sort the lighting. All feedback appreciated. ~Peace Edited March 18, 2009 by iamded Quote
I Scream Clone Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I like this a lot! A couple of suggestions, 1. actually make the skeletal hands the part that attaches to the pod, this will look like the hands are reaching out to grip the engines 2. I don't know if pilots are part of the comp, but some of Hopes009 demonic creations may make great pilots. Here and here Cheers Quote
posades Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Wow that looks really cool, I love how you're blending two seemingly non-blendable worlds. Now I'm just waiting for the Dwarven Podracer... Quote
iamded Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 (edited) Thanks guys. A couple of suggestions, 1. actually make the skeletal hands the part that attaches to the pod, this will look like the hands are reaching out to grip the engines I actually didn't think of them as hands but rather just detail when I was building it, but that's a good idea. 2. I don't know if pilots are part of the comp, but some of Hopes009 demonic creations may make great pilots. Here and here Those are neat creations. However I opted for a minifig as I think it would have been easier to fit that a brick-built pilot. I uploaded a pic with the cockpit opened to show him. ~Peace Edited March 18, 2009 by iamded Quote
Batbrick Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Firstly: Welcome back iamded! I missed you! Secondly: Yes! You made another cool moc. This is the coolest thing.....ever. I just love it. The studdlessness is great and I love how the engines use that window grill. The actual pod using the bionicle spikes and bones is simply brilliant, I wish I'd thought of it! and as someone that sucks in every way at making engines, you've done an excellent job, especially with the bone thrusters at the back! The electric pieces joining the engines are also great, I never even thought of using those pieces that way. Oh! And I just noticed the black skellies at the front! That is so sweet! Also love that it is driven via crystal ball! Now make more things! Batbrick Away! Quote
Oky Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Damn! I wanted to make something like this. Everyone seems to have the same ideas as me. Oh well. Well done, though! I don't see anything that's wrong with it. The energy coupling looks very nice! Quote
WhiteFang Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 iamded, it has been a long time since I last saw you posted. This is a very good moc, in fact, I noticed there are many familar Giant Castle Chess set elements in this creation. Nice one, and good luck for the contest. Quote
iamded Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 Thanks guys. It may be noteworthy that I used parts from only TLC's skeleton things; the boat from 7029, 2 carriages from 7092's, and the skeleton tower (7039). Completely forgot about the barricades from 7091, they could have been useful. Anyway, it was more fun and challenging to limit parts, even though I had the majority of pieces left over. And Batbrick, I've been away because I've been quite busy of late, and I'm really just popping back in. Still got lots of stuff to do... ~Peace Quote
Oky Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Btw, when I was thinking about doing something like this, I had the idea of using the top part of the Skellie Prison Carriage as the air inlet on the podracer's engines. Since you have two of those, you could try to do that. I'm not sure how well that will look on your pod since it has rather small engines, but I think it's worth a shot. Quote
Dragonator Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Hey mate, nice to see you around again, and with an excellent creation to boot! A very unique idea, and you've pulled it off nicely, with the whole skeleton them. You've got to love those black skellie's on the front, a very nice touch! I've missed you too, hope you become less busy soon! Quote
Natman8000 Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I think it fits both themes perfectly. The lightning for the lazer is a great idea, I might use it someday, if you let me. Quote
Darth Legolas Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Freaking cheese! This is awesome! a perfect fusion of my favorite, Star Wars, and second favorite, Castle! Spectacular detail, and great idea for the engines! And the monitor is a crystal ball! This should totally be a set, if Lego ever decides to make a "fusion line." All themes and licensed themes that agree could be fused together in funky combinations! Quote
iamded Posted March 19, 2009 Author Posted March 19, 2009 Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! I feel inspired to make a troll and Dwarf pod now... ~Peace Quote
Dragonator Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! I feel inspired to make a troll and Dwarf pod now... ~Peace Yes, do it, do it! And while you're at it I think a dragon-pod would also be fitting. Quote
the lord of the brick Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 A villagers pod would be freaking awesome. I have to think about that... Your Skellie pod is an inspiration for me . Quote
