drdavewatford Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Given that I'm trying to collect all the Lego Star Wars sets, I regret not buying them when they were still at their RRP and being sold by Lego..... Trying to get some of the older sets at a reasonable price is challenging, and would have been unnecessary had I emerged from my Lego dark ages earlier. I finally got hold of a MISB Darth Maul bust yesterday, for instance, but paid quite a lot more than I would have done had I bought it in 2001 when it was released. Still, we live and learn. For the record, not including currently available 'new' sets, I need 9 more and then I can finally rest....! Dr. D. Quote
Sir von Lego Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Hmm, good question. When I started collecting LEGO Star Wars, I decided not to buy any of the Technic Sets. Last year I decided to collect everything from LEGO Star wars, so I had to buy all the technic sets. I want to have each Set two times, and right now there are only missing the 4481 Hailfire Droid and 8010 Darth vader missing....and some of the 2009 sets, but thats no problem, they are still around... greetings Hendrik Quote
Ras 74 Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I've done some shopping and now I only need:Watto's Junkyard Still the Junkyard... That is hillarious If I had the money I would buy all copys on BL and eBay to make them unvailable I have no idea what all you guys are talking about? What missed sets? I still have not bought some sets that is out in stores now. But that will be changed within one or two months time. Quote
Bobskink Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I still have not bought some sets that is out in stores now.But that will be changed within one or two months time. same here, you have a whole year to buy them, if not two. I missed none of the sets I want, I started collecting them from the beginning, the ones I couldn't afford at the start were on sale a year later, so that was really nice and what me got hooked for reall. Big Cam Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Well since I've been actively bnuying sets, I have not missed out on anything I have wanted. Currently the Endor Set is on my mind, and I want it so bad, that if for some reasoin I end up missin git, I'll end up paying too much for one off bricklink. Quote
bamaker Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I regret not buying the Cloud City set. Many times, I had it in my shopping cart on S@H, but just couldn't justify what I considered the exhorbitant price of the set and I would cancel the transaction. I waited too long and missed out on it. If I'd only known... I also regret not getting 4504 Millenium Falcon when it was $50 during the holiday sales in 2006 or 2007 (when was that?); though I did end up getting one for original retail last spring. My biggest regret is selling all of my Star Wars sets back in Christmas 2003. I had the AT-AT, Mos Eisley Cantina, Republic Gunship, Watto's Junkyard, Jango's Slave I, plus almost every Star Wars set released up to that point. I sold them all at once, and got just under retail price for the whole lot. I was trying to generate funds to help with the purchase of a car -- we definitely needed the car, but there was other stuff I held on to, mostly Hasbro items, that I could've sold to generate funds. The kicker is I eventually ended up selling the other stuff at a huge loss last year (would've broken even or even made some profit in 2003) and the LEGO stuff I sold is now grabbing top dollar in today's market. Investment wizard I am not. Quote
Commander_Rob Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I find it kind of funny how I seem to have walked past this thread without really noticing it. However there also isn`t a´lot of sets I regret not getting, probably only 4483, the original AT-AT (which I meant to buy—at the point, THE EXACT POINT when it was not available anymore) and Cloud City maybe (only for the figs though). Apart from that there is just a few sets I regret not having, sets where there never really was a chance for me to buy them, like the minifig packs (never available in Germany and released before my Star Wars interest started) and the Ultimate Space Battle, if only for the red JSF (those pesky American exclusive sets ). But really, that is about it. And what I also find interesting is that I seem to have got some of the sets mentioned here frequently: both MTTs, 2006 Slave I (most, no wait almost all sets from that year), 4505 Millenium Falcon and 4502 X-Wing (not the first Lego Star Wars set I got but the one that started the addiction). Sorry, I had show off a bit here! Quote

Investment wizard I am not. That blows. I also once sold some of my PT sets, but then started playing the video game and bought the figures back only a month later. When I buy a big set, like cloud city I just save for, put my 2€ coins asside until I have saved enough. It can take several months, but it's money you squander without having the feeling it comes from your wallet, same way I bought the Endor set this monday. Quote
MiniGreavy Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Definitely the UCS X-Wing and the UCS Tantive IV... But now it's too late; I won't pay these prices for used products Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Out of all the System sets with minifigs, I have almost all, but the one that I never got was 7260, Wookie Catamaran. Quote
pedro Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I regretted not getting the original AT-TE. I got almost every set from the ROTS line and when I decided I wanted it, it was gone! Not to worry though, the new version is much better... but funnily enough I still haven't bought that one either! I better think about doing it soon or it'll be a case of history repeating itself - and I don't want that! I regret not buying the Cloud City set... Investment wizard I am not. However there also isn`t a´lot of sets I regret not getting, probably only 4483, the original AT-AT (which I meant to buy—at the point, THE EXACT POINT when it was not available anymore) and Cloud City maybe (only for the figs though)... Bamaker, man, that's too bad! But at least it was for a very worthwhile cause... Not to make you envious, but your posts reminded me of when I found myself stood in the LEGO shop Birmingham UK (which has since been closed for a while now ) at the time Cloud City and the AT-AT were on the shelves. I spent an incredibly long time deciding which to get. It was so difficult: set with awesome minifigs, purely awesome set; set with awesome minifigs, purely awesome set. In the end I chose Cloud City! Superb set and I wasn't disappointed. Several months later I scooped the AT-AT at half price from Woolworths online... result! Quote
CloneCommanderDelta7 Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Definately the motorized AT-AT as it was the only one I saw in stores that I didn't buy. I would've liked to have acquired the Clone Turbo Tank and ARC-170 but I never saw it in stores. Quote
DarkFader Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 So far, the only set I regret not getting is the original 7134 A-Wing; the updated one from 2006 was not released where I live so the mistake feels even bigger now. Quote
RepublicForces Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 (edited) The UCS star destoyer. I didn't had enough money. Edited October 19, 2009 by repubilcFORCES Quote
Rufus Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Jabba's sail barge. 2 years or so ago I had the choice between JBS and the UCS Tie Advanced; I chose the latter. Can't get hold of the JBS for love nor money now. Quote
Big Cam Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I'm updating my answer with which set did I wish I could have had the chance to buy. Imperial Inspection and Cloud City. Quote
Commander Assassin Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Imperial Inspection, and a two pack containing the original Slave I and the original Landspeeder for only $20. Quote
Rook Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 The early 1999-2001, 3 minifigures w/ stands and card sets. Quote
Rijkvv Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I think I can add the 7665 Republic Cruiser to my list. Quote
Strand Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Cloud city for me and maybe the 4504 X-wing. I picked up a couple of 6212s later, but missed out on Yoda's hut. Other than that, I've been quite lucky. The ones I don't have, I usually made a conscious decision not to buy them at the time. That or, I couldn't afford them at the time, but picked up better-built re-releases later (AT-TE and Gunship are in this boat) so it's cool. Quote
LEGOscum Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 The only one I regret is the only one I don't have: 7191 UCS X-Wing. Jeremy Quote
JCC1004 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 (edited) I wish I would have gotten more 7668 Rebel Scout Speeders. One is not enough. Edited October 22, 2009 by JCC1004 Quote
Big Cam Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I wish I would have gotten more 7668 Rebel Scout Speeders. One is not enough. Zero is also not enough I would have bought those in bulk like I did the battle packs. Quote
Omega 8 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Sadly, my list is long: 7106 7133 10131 10123 7666 7255 10144 6210 7657 4483 10178 7672 Quote
