Posted March 22, 200915 yr Hi, and welcome to my new topic about LEGO colours. My favorite colour is Red, and one I hate is Purple (looks weird in my MOCs).
March 22, 200915 yr Maybe in your MOCs, but I have seen purple used to great success in many MOCs. I suggest you look around, as the MOC title usually includes mention of the color purple because using it to true success dictates a great deal of attention. I personally love all of the LEGO colors, as colors are what make LEGO great.
March 22, 200915 yr I hate red and yellow as they are very common but of less use in mocs. My favourite colours are dark red, dark green, tan and the greys
March 22, 200915 yr I love colors as well, I just don't think I'm very good at using them in my MOCs. I usually lean towards either grey, brown or tan, with other colors used as occasional accents. It's maybe because in my childhood I used to hate when my little brothers built houses without even looking at the colors of the bricks, so the houses were always a mishmash of every color available back then (luckily there were only five main colors of bricks then, heh).
March 22, 200915 yr Some of my favorite colours are dark blue, dark red, dark green, dark tan, dark brown, medium blue, red brown. Metallic silver/gold is very nice for detail - I'd love to have more! Ordinary colours I use: black, grey/bley, dark grey/bley, white, tan. I like building some old castle-type buildings in old greys, but for just about anything else I'm beginning to think I prefer bley (plus it's cheaper on bricklink!). The same goes for old brown vs. red brown. I quite like sand green, sand red and sand blue, but I've very little of those colours, particularly the latter two. I don't find the primary or bright colours as versatile, although I wouldn't stop getting them. These include orange, lime green and indeed the traditional colours of red, blue and yellow.

Heh, same here. I've always grvaitated towards brown, tan, black and white as well as brown. Recently I'm getting into orange and green though. Likewise, I always hated it when my younger brother made a multi-coloured house or car, I'm a neat-freak. That said, I love most colours, except two: Yellow, because it's downright useless bar for subs and odd spaceships. Not helping that I have a load of it. And Pink, the worst offender, because it's a girl's colour. That's right, you read that correctly, a GIRL'S colour! Muhahahaha! Beware my evil stereotyping as I twirl my moustache and tie you to some train tracks! Hehehe! Batbrick Away!
March 22, 200915 yr Purple and Dark Red are my favourite colours in all of lego. Dark Red is very well represented in star wars and castle however purple is far too rare. The colours I dislike are hmm, that old orangish brown that looks very odd, plus there wasn't enough of it to really use beyond minor "wood" details. Of course bley and black and white are the staple colours that I enjoy working with.
March 22, 200915 yr My favorite colors are Grey, Black and white. My most disliked colors are Pink, Orange and Purple as they don't look good with sets or MOC's
March 22, 200915 yr By far, my favorite colors are dark red and dark tan. These are beautiful colors and they look great amongst most other colors. I hate keetongu yellow, looks like crap.
March 22, 200915 yr Um, none? I mean, honestly, I don't really understand how any color can really be not so great. Each and every color has tons of uses - it just depends on what kind of MOCs you're building. I've seen just about every lego color imaginable used in really creative ways online, including slightly more limited colors like pink. But, if I had to pick a color, I'd chose the new pearl gold. The problem I have with this color is not the actual shade, which is cool, but the inconsistency of the molding. Every piece in this shade has terrible multishaded swirls going down the part in random ways. It's just not of a good quality, and I wish TLC would scrap it for the new metalic gold similar to it (which they have used in certain kits). Either that, or improve their molding methods.
March 22, 200915 yr I was under the impression that the "pearl" colours are *supposed* to have the swirling shades throughout. Just as actual pearls have. Maybe I'm mistaken. In any case, I quite like the effect, and any of the less "swirly" pieces I have just look like megabloks or something in my opinion. Of course, metallic colours all round instead of any pearl parts would indeed be awesome. But presumably more expensive. Plus the metallic effect does wear off (some wear on the corners of bricks just from transport in box/building the Agents car).
March 22, 200915 yr i dont really like LEGO blue eventhough blue's my favourite colour. as for my favourite, i like the dark colours (eg dark blue, dark red, dark green) oh, and i like chrome pieces too, but only when the paint stays on Edited March 22, 200915 yr by prateek

I dont think he meant what color is bad but if you like it or whether you think the color looks good in the mocs you make. Another color I really like is dark green since it is useful and has a nice shade.
March 22, 200915 yr I like the new dark brown, its a great shade to work with. I do like the orange too. Why all the purple hate?
March 22, 200915 yr My favorite Lego colors are dark blue, dark red, and dark tan, not unlike most of the people who posted here already. All of them just look so attractive, and I always try to incorporate them in my "free" MOCs. I am just hoping we get more dark tan, especially with the Indy line. My least favorite Lego colors... definitely yellow (especially old yellow). When used a lot, these bricks appear the dirtiest and ugliest, even more so than white. I don't have very many yellow pieces, but I'm glad not to. I also really hate pearl-colored (not metallic) pieces. The difference? Bigger than you think. A good example is the metallic gold chest from "Race for the Stolen Treasure". And the pearl gold chest from "Brickbeard's Bounty". I just cannot stand that sickly color... it's also the only reason that I haven't bought that set yet. (The first picture is mine, the second is svelte corps's).
March 22, 200915 yr My favorite is definitely black. I use it more than anything else in my MOCs, and it's one of the few that has been immune to quality variations in the last few years. For the most part, I stick with the 7 or 8 classic, pre-1997 colors in my MOCs. I have a lot more pieces in them than the newer colors and their "bright" look creates a nice contrast with black for the types of things I build. I do like tan and lime green as well, even though I don't have a lot of pieces in those colors. As for colors I don't like, maybe trans-black to some extent. My beef isn't with the color itself, but I think it has become way overused in sets since it came out 10 years ago. It has almost replaced trans-white/clear and trans-light blue in many themes. Pearl gold looks pretty bad from that picture as well (a far cry from chrome gold or even metallic gold), and I remember the TLG guy at Brickfair saying he hated that color too, but I don't actually have any pieces in it myself.
March 22, 200915 yr I love the dark green! I have metalic colors. Why? They flake off! The chep spray comes off and you get sone other color.
March 22, 200915 yr I like light yellow, bright pink, tan. Quit a disappointment for me was aqua. Of course there are way too many red and blue bricks out there that force you to use them. Sand blue and other sand colors I have not yet decided about if I like them or not as I have not yet built from them full structures.
March 22, 200915 yr I like the flesh colours, dark tan, dark blue, greys, tan, white, dark brown, dark green, ... I love using the newer colours of greys and brown as they seem more clean. (quality is something different) Frankly, the only colours I hate are the ones that don't have a lot of pieces or all have useless pieces. for example: certain pinks, medium green, light yellow, ... I really love the metallic colours, pearl colours a bit less but still great. I hate the chrome colours because of the fact they peel off over time... only good for collectibles and the like. I'm beginning to like normal blue not as much as I used to, as most uses for it have been replaced by either dark blue or medium blue. TT Edited March 22, 200915 yr by Tanotrooper
March 22, 200915 yr Nice pic, JimButcher I understand what people are saying about pearl gold compared to metallic gold, but the latter does wear over time. My 2x2 bricks from Town Plan are already a bit chipped When the pieces are small and it's used to add detail I think it looks fine though, as in Medieval Market Village or the IJ: Lost Tomb set. It's when it becomes overwhelming (like in that Brickbeard's Bounty) pic that it doesn't look so good. However, I prefer pearl gold over chrome gold as that chips even worse. Lego, you can keep your fancy Chrome C3P0s and Darth Vaders! I can't believe they used chrome gold on a keychain either, they must have lasted 10 minutes before getting scratched! Apart from that, I'm a sucker for all the darker colours - tan, red, green and blue especially. Yellow is low on the list due to the quality control issues - the 2x3 bricks from the new Farm sets are so soft and tacky looking they look like a clone brand.
March 22, 200915 yr My favourite colours are dark red, dark green, tan and the greys My thoughts exactly - except "colour" would be spelled without the "u"...
March 22, 200915 yr My thoughts exactly - except "colour" would be spelled without the "u"... I hope you are joking
March 23, 200915 yr I hope you are joking I think he just means he would spell it the American way, and that of course was a humorous comment. Personally, I love fresh white. What I mean by fresh white is when you open a new set like 7666 Hoth Base and spill its contents out, I love seeing and building with all that shiny new white. The only problem is that after you've touched it for a while it loses its fresh white quality, and I've got to go by more new sets with white! I have a similar "problem" with clear pieces: I just love them when they're fresh, but then they get all cloudy form fingerprints! When I'm building, I like to use brown, except that I hate mixing old and new browns, so I often get frustrated. I do not have a least favorite color, but I just hate mixing my new browns with old browns and new grays with old grays.
