I recently got another copy of the set. From the first copy of the set I kept the bricks, and gave my boyfriend the minifigures and the animals. After buying Kingdoms Joust, I decided to get another copy of MMV, as I appreciate it more now - it's a good as a set, and even better as a parts pack.

After having sit on my unopened set of MMV for just over a year, I finally cracked up and built it with a friend after Christmas. And although the build process was a bit tedious at times and could have used the more recent approach with numbered bags, the end result was well worth it. I knew from the first time I ever saw pictures of this set that it would be my favorite set, and I have not changed my mind one bit on that since building it.

If I am to say one single negative thing about the set, it would be the lack of truly unique minifigures. But that's a minor complaint, this set is amazing overall. A true beauty to behold.

I may have to get Kingdoms Joust and see what I can do with the two of them together, now. But next up will be building the MVR, which I've also had for just over a year now.

I'd get the Joust while you still can! (I'm not sure it will be sold alongside the new castle wave this summer, but that's just a thought, no inside information.) Glad to hear another 'thumbs up' on MMV - it's getting me excited to build mine - if I ever find the space to build it and store it... :hmpf_bad:

In the present moment, I'll settle for gazing longingly at the box.

Perhaps the MVR will provide you with some slightly more 'unique' peasant minifigures. Honestly, the minifigures have changed so much even since 2009 - it can be a bit glaring at times to see them side by side. I've often thought the MMV characters seem a bit outdated now compared to their post-2011 counterparts.

Given how long MMV has been on the shelves, I wouldn't assume the Joust set to go away just yet... I wasn't even planning on getting it at first, as I found it underwhelming compared to MMV, but I have since come to the conclusion that it's still good value for money and has a few interesting figs.

Yeah the reason I hadn't built it untill now is the same: lack of space to build and store. I have other unopened Castle (2007) and Kingdoms sets that awaits being added to my landscape as well.

I did that a lot as well during the past year, it gives quite a kick looking at that beautiful box art and knowing that some special day, you're in for a real treat when opening it!

Yeah the MVR has good figs and interesting animals that will supplement MMV really well, I think. I'm not sure I agree with your assesment about the figures though, I think thsoe from Castle (2007) blends perfectly in with Kingdoms (and vice versa). It starts getting edgy if you go further back than that, though.

I have not a single castle set to my name, but this would be the first one that I would scoop up given the chance. Not much more to be said, fantastic looking set, kudos to the OP for a review well done.

I am late to the party on this set, I got one off of BrickLink, for more than it sold for originally..arghh...oh well. It looked like such a nice set, I had to get it. I love it, it looks just fantastic, nice proportions to the buildings, and tons of extras and minifigs. There is even some dung bits in the horse stalls (dark brown carrots/clubs) LOL.

I wish there was something in the current line-up of sets that comes close to this! I am finding myself searching for all the old sets I missed out on, in my dark ages.. instead of new stuff.
