even though i dont own either of those sets pictured my idea would be that you put the AT-TE gun backwards instead of forwards if that makes sense

CommanderFox

It won't fit going backwards. It runs into the mechanism that connects the two.

Honestly, I can't understand what you are asking. And I think your choice of word is well... incorrect.
He is asking if when the RDS (Republic Dropship) is holding the AT-TE, if the walker's main gun can fit in the... Eh, well, I'm just going to call it an open hole :pirate:

Not entirely.

I think he's asking if the cannon can be put through this 'door' (see attachment), to avoid turning the ATTE cannon sidewards.

The one that made those pictures should be able to answer that.

I've build it myself and even tried using it with the ATTE, but I didn't think of putting the cannon through that door.

So I wouldn't know, which means that it's not even sure that Starstreak does

of course - this must be what the door is for!

Never even crossed my mind to use it that way - i just moved the gun sideways....

that would be very hard to do

Nope. Gun doesnt fit there. I have no idea how to use that door.

I've wondered myself, and all that makes sense to me is that it's some kind of gangway between the two ships, or maybe LEGO just added that in to fill the empty space between the two vehicles.

I do think it's a great set though.

Is the small door in the front of the dropship for the main cannon of the AT-TE?

Doesnt this have it's on topic? No need to ask a question twice. It's been answered here

K, I missed this post. And no, as far as I can tell, the main gun will not fit in there.

Maybe, like the "key" that came with the ATTE that came before the dropship, maybe the backdoor is for another vehicle that is in the planning?

I don't know if there is a big vehicle with such an odd shape that it would need that door to be opened but I guess it could be meant as a compartment for smaller vehicles like AT-RTs. There would be enough place for 2 of them in the nose if the missile holder is removed. But I mainly guess this is just wildly speculating.

Yeah, a bit late coming in here, but in late 2010, there's a new Clone Turbo Tank coming out, and it appears to have a Republic Dropship lock-mechanism-thing on it like the AT-TE and AT-OT... perhaps it's something to do with that, yeah?

Just spin to gun around so the barrel points out the back.

or build proper sized dropship instead of using lego small version and you won`t have problem anymore :)

That's not an option. Lego's AT-TE is proportianally correct to their Dropship/ATOT set. To leave the gun forward you would have to have a significant space between the front of the ATTE and that part of the DS. Then it would no longer be a proper sized DS. I went back and watched the movie, and I think the main gun sticks forward and just to the side of the front DS part.

Try to keep yours intact, you may find something later on about that door:

I built my AT-TE, and when I saw that connector I thought "what the...?", and modified it without it. Now the parts and instructions are lost in my collection

Thanks! Glad you liked it. I wish I could still do reviews like this, but my job keeps me away from doing Lego builds in a timely matter.

This is one of those sets that I'd just give anything to have! Fantastic review starstreak!

I'm sure there's a reason. And I'm sure Lego talked to SW:Clone Wars people about it. ANd yes, I'm sure the new Turbo Tank is gonna have a link for the drop ship too. :)
