I saw that set in real yesterday at Wunderwelt Modellbau, as part of an exhibition of the Lego Society Austria, it´s really very neat, sturdy and imposing.

As for the set itself, its overpriced, filled with holes,too many stickers lacks good minifigs. But with a little modding and some BP's I could change that!

I could go on about this Awesome set for ages....honestly. But I won't. Anyway I would love to have it but sadly I won't be able to afford it do to the fact that I will be buying a big bunch of the old pirate sets and the new Star Wars set plus the IJ sets.

It makes sense to throw in ARC gear along with the other parts to 'customize' a bit, though.

Dang. I was hoping for some more black gear. Ah well, more battlepacks it is.

It seems strange that they didnt put those black things in cause they have been in i think its every clone wars set that has been made so far. I think they are pointless to be honest except for the kama, shoulder thingy and the visors

I am glad TLC made this set. It is not something I want but I know for other adult collectors this is great. Personally I like UCS kits like the MF. That is totally worth my money. I hope this kit sells well or we could possibly be seeing in for sale in a year??

Got mine last friday, and had a pleasent weekend.

Did a few mods myself as well during the time I built it.

Changed all blue technic pins and so on.

Not done completley with that yet. Will post pics later.

And I didn't show the AT-TE at first (but later did in subsequent posts). Part of the reason was I couldn't hold everything to connect it. I later realized you had to move the pin down one hole on the AT-TE then it connected fine.

The instructions aren't very helpful on this point. In fact, they're not helpful at all! I don't see they would have been faced with a deluge of complaints from people who expected an AT-TE in the box if they had one or two pics of this extra function in the manuals, so it's a bit annoying that there's no mention of it at all. I probably wouldn't have known what to do except somebody mentioned it in one of these threads. That said, I swung my AT-TE around for about 5 seconds before it span off and landed on the floor so maybe the AT-TE build isn't as stable as the AT-OT

Other thoughts on having built it... too many stickers! It's terrible they can't even do those 2x2 round tiles with the printed Republic insignia as they used to. Sigh.

It's also weird that in a set so obviously catering for AFOLs, the designers looked at the little storage space below the LAAT cockpit and thought 'I know! What people really want is 8 MORE flick-fire missiles!' At least the Gunship had the bacta tank and the cool little control thing.

It's kind of annoying that you can't fill up the AT-OT with clones *and* use the lifting function at the same time. Is it just me or do the backsides of minifigs have less clutching power than they used to? The slightest bump and they're popping out all over the place!

Anyway, I don't want to give the wrong impression, I thought this was an incredibly enjoyable build and both submodels are amazingly well-designed. I'd recommend it - on sale

I am going to be getting home tomorrow, so I will be able to finish this set. I am excited about the build, but need to find some place to put it.

As for the Republic Dropship with AT-OT;

It arrived last saturday and was a great build. I love design/technic in the dropship! Getting the cockpit in exactly the right position was the hardest part, as I noticed it wasnt positioned right after building it and looking at the picture on the box. And I had to remove the wings in order to fit/store it into the closet where I keep the lego sets - it's that big.

I want this really bad, but I have to wait till it's on sale. My only fear is that it gets sold out before it goes on sale. Do you guys think that will happen?

In the mean time, I'll get some clone battle packs to fill the AT-OT up.

I think this set will be around for a while, not sure it will go on sale anytime soon.

I wonder if TLG ever thought of selling the Dropship by itself. That probably would have been much more palatable to people from an economic point of view. I don't really want the AT-OT but I'd take the Dropship in a heartbeat.

If I had the $ to buy this set it'd be built in a heartbeat. But I still love looking at everybody's great pictures of it!

I just got mine and I can't wait to open it!! I had to sell some other pirate/castle sets to make some more money.

I beg to differ on the price. I believe the set is well priced for the two vehicles you receive. I also got in a shop.lego.com sale for £50 off, making the price £120.00. .the set for me arrived in the post yesterday. I've built the AT-OT walker but not the dropship. I broke my shoulder so it takes twice as long to build
