Posted November 2, 200519 yr Guys, I'm in the process of building the Crawler and those treads are killing me !!!!! I wanted to create a poll on what are the worst TLC's "building techniques". The Crawler has them all !!!!! Unstable structure: if you put parts and press them correctly, some of the main structure collapses yeayyyyyy All those treads are a pain to build: 34 X 8 = pain and suffering !!! At least there aren't that many stickers (for once !!!!): definitly not the Ferrari truck ;) Cast your vote and lest enjoy the fun of worst building techniques !!!
November 2, 200519 yr Stickers are awful. They fall off, look stupid if not perfectly applied and have little to no added value to a set. The one redeeming value of stickers is that one doesn't have to put them on leaving the piece blank. Which is perfect for a castle builder like me. Having them in a set I want to part out is fine but if they ever start putting stickers on castle buildings I will not be happy >:( .
November 2, 200519 yr stickers are terrible! it's alright if you apply them very well, but i'm not a big fan, so i'll go for stickers!
November 2, 200519 yr Definatly stickers... The stickers on my two Gunships and Reble Blockade Runner began to crack and peel upward after a couple years, and that was just from slight, indirect sunlight filtering through blinds! I contacted LEGO about the problem and they nicely sent me replacement stickers for my Blockade Runner (without me even asking for them :D ) but they sadly didn't have stickers for the Gunships anymore. I mean, we pay enough for these sets already, just go ahead and print the bloody designs on the bricks :P
November 2, 200519 yr Not to feel left out, I must impart upon this discussion my very own STICKERS SUCK! I am very happy that they don't F*** up the bricks much by printing patterns on them, but especially in licensed sets, such as the expensive gunship... it MIGHT be a good idea to go ahead and make the images timeless by imprinting them. I'm a Lego builder who NEVER buys Lego sets to actually build the (ugly, poorly designed) intended models. All those old Alpha Team sets I bought would've sucked hard if the geeky AT logo was painted on all the pieces instead of optional with stickers. I will never put stickers on top of Lego bricks. It's unfathomable. But if I paid over $60 for a licensed character-specific type deal, sure, why not? Just paint it straight on.
November 2, 200519 yr stickers suck *sick* threads suck *sick* unstable sets suck *sick* why lego why *sing* *sing*
November 2, 200519 yr I see so many sticker complaints.. whats th big problem with them? *avoids screwed up sticker sheets being thrown in my direction* :P Of course, these are a pain.. but I find even worse unstable structures. When you have part of a model you need to press firmly to apply it to a model and you end up caving in half of the model.. that really bugs me as you have to go back through it all again! |-/ Jon.
November 2, 200519 yr There is some truth in Jon's words.... Actually stickers aren't a real building technique, more a technique to achieve a particular look (greebles, details, etc)... But I think the reason why so many vote for is that stickers are in most cases a bigger annoyance than silly building structures, because they will go along the whole brick's life instead only one modell's life!
November 2, 200519 yr I dislike all of them actually, but stickers aren't that much of a problem since I don't use them (only on my SW sets because they're display only and will never be used in MOCs). The threads in the Sandcrawler were a pain too, but the effect is really neat ( a lot better then it would've been if TLC would have been using the 6573 threads...). I'd go with technic pieces...I'm a pure System builder, and I want only system parts when I buy a set...technic just doesn't belong there. I mean, Viking were a great series, but omg...all the technic...that was hell. I stink a technic constructions too; have to do them three times or so because I always mess up...
November 2, 200519 yr Technic? Not too bad. BIONACLE PIECES >:( Although they are usually for look/addons... so are stickers so this fits...
November 2, 200519 yr I hate stickers, but I can't stand unstable structures. I've never been as dissapointed as when I got the new Millenium Falcon. Putting a minifig inside the Falcon resulted in the bottom collapsing. And as I was turning it over to study what the h*** happened - the entire top/roof fell off *devil* Thanks TLC for that crappy construction :| :( KimT
November 3, 200519 yr The new Falcon isn't all that bad...the ULD is a lot crappier...but it's a pretty crappy set anyway ;)
November 3, 200519 yr Gotta go with stickers also im afraid, i understand why lego uses them but boy do they suck.
November 3, 200519 yr Oh I forgot - hate those new instructions where one can't tell dark gray from black. It's a pain in the *** >:( I always seem to end up with pieces in the wrong colours due to the impossibilty to decipher the damn instruction *sick* KimT
